All the salad police on here! Some posters are clearly joking, but others seem to be serious.
'Salad' is a word with a broad meaning. Mainly, it means cold food with some raw vegetables as a base (though not always, as you can have roasted vegetable salad).
I give you: Cobb salad, salade Niçoise, potato salad, pasta salad, wakame salad, fruit salad, chef's salad, Caesar salad, Russian salad or salad Olivier, Greek salad, rice salad, Waldorf salad, salad Caprese. Most, if not all, salads are not just leaves and raw vegetables. Most of them have some kind of protein and/or carbs on them, some of them several.
The word 'salad' looks really strange to me now, like those 'a sad lad' typing exercises from the old day.
