Don’t forget that if you don’t fancy a “massive salad” you can have something else instead as long as it’s with “lots of veggies”.

ArabeIIaScott · 02/06/2023 13:01

MON THE SHRROOMS.

BeverlyHa · 02/06/2023 13:02

These are three meals in there, not a salad. Boiled potatoes and more than egg is two meals already. Salad is meant to be salady vegetables, with half an egg or few meat pieces etc

PartyFarty · 02/06/2023 13:02

Id eat salad a whole lot more if it looked like yours @ChiChaNaYubi as opposed to the other bowl shown on here!

PollyThePixie · 02/06/2023 13:02

But I'm glad I'm not the only one who had eggs and chicken on salad

I would have them as well but it would only ever be called a salad with chicken and eggs on the side. A salad grows in the earth.

TEAM MUSHROOM

Iusedtoliveinsanfrancisco · 02/06/2023 13:03

id have a big Mac and fries. Less fat and fewer calories and no vomit.

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 02/06/2023 13:03

Aside from the mushrooms, that looks delicious!

The size of the salad is fine but you are being highly unreasonable by adding mushrooms 😂

I remember when there was a fad for raw food, including mushrooms! If they've been in sliced olive oil and lemon for half an hour they're rather good. The eggs need another couple of minutes.

Echo..mushrooms have zero place in a salad

ArabeIIaScott · 02/06/2023 13:04

I can't believe the mushroomphobia on this thread. It's literal fungicide.

You’ll have to come round at Thanksgiving and let DH introduce you to a jello salad. Personally I’m still not entirely convinced that the grated carrot and the mayonnaise are meant to be in there nestling next to the raspberry jelly and the tinned fruit cocktail, but I know better than to start that fight on a patriotic holiday.

That is the saddest salad I have ever seen.

I know. Indulgent and confusing Hmm

I've also committed the 'triple protein' sin for my lunchtime salad (chick peas, tuna and Lidl fava bean dip, which is also fails the MN food acceptability test because it's probably a UPF). It wasn't even deliberate, I was just using up some bits from the fridge leftover from a BBQ earlier in the week.

People are weird. For everyone berating the OP for 'indulging' in more than one protein, there's another who told the OP on the tuna salad thread that she should swap 3/4 of her tuna for some chick peas, but without giving a reason why.

dempseyb · 02/06/2023 13:04

I think that's normal but all the MNetters with the bird like appetites probably find it completely massive!

ArabeIIaScott · 02/06/2023 13:05

'bird like appetites' - is this when you eat chicken?

Rosscameasdoody · 02/06/2023 13:05

ChiChaNaYubi · 02/06/2023 12:58

Not cold mushrooms. Fresh, hot garlic mushrooms!

OK then, I take it back if they’re hot - perfectly acceptable. I can’t make out what that is in between the three egg halves and the mushrooms. Is it a king prawn or a mis-shapen bit of egg ? Kudos on the consistency of the egg yolk by the way.

Catchasingmewithspiders · 02/06/2023 13:06

I don't understand why you have more than half an egg on there. Dont you know there are egg shortages and some people are stuggling to buy then? You are hoarding eggs, which is selfish, and posting pictures of them on here is just going to cause panic buying. I bet you use more than half a sheet of toilet paper at a time too OP!

BarbaraofSeville · 02/06/2023 13:06

Oh god, I completely misread. I thought it said it was the saddest post I've ever seen, which is what I was agreeing with. I think the OPs salad looks fine. If people look beyond the offending triple carbs, there's a load of salady stuff underneath.

PollyThePixie · 02/06/2023 13:07

ComtesseDeSpair, I’ve heard of it and I’d give it a go, especially if I was a guest in someone’s home.

I’m Laughing at a fight on a Patriotic holiday - in our house the holiday fights are the best.

DeliciouslyDecadent · 02/06/2023 13:07

There is just no way I could eat all of that- hummus, and eggs, and chicken, and potato in mayo, and garlic mushrooms.

Hell, no.

ghostyslovesheets · 02/06/2023 13:07

would this be a good time to tell you all of Aldi whipped Feta and mint dip?

Thindog · 02/06/2023 13:07

I have that salad too, except that I fry the eggs, mushrooms and potatoes.

universityhelp · 02/06/2023 13:08

I think it needs to be in a much bigger bowl, and mostly consist of leaves. No carbs! Protein also not part of the salad, but served alongside it. This is what I imagine when I read about massive salads on MN, eg served with lasagne.

HolaPedro · 02/06/2023 13:09

Off topic but where did you get the eggs? Look lush!
