OP posts:
ToddlerMama27 · 23/05/2023 14:48

I’m already far too hot and a little bit sunburnt 😩

Lightsgoingout · 23/05/2023 14:48

I hate being warm I’m with you OP

spuddel · 23/05/2023 14:49

Why on earth would a nice sunshiney summer fill anyone with dread?

RoseRobot · 23/05/2023 14:51

We've had the longest winter I can remember. Bring on the sunshine!

drspouse · 23/05/2023 14:51

If this temperature is really uncomfortable for you, then it's probably your housing that's making it that way. Now is the time to order a fan, a portable A/C and some blackout curtains for your bedroom. They will be sold out in June if we have a hot one.

Come to London, we haven't had sun for ages

What apart from all of last week?

PinkRiceKrispies · 23/05/2023 14:54

People kept saying last year was a rarity but I know what you mean OP. It is pretty warm even now and I am worried about it getting even hotter as the summer progresses. Last year in London was revolting.

the80sweregreat · 23/05/2023 14:56

I can handle the odd warm day, but last years heatwave was awful and yes, seeing any higher temperatures forecast makes me want to weep
I loath it too hot

Plump82 · 23/05/2023 14:56

Its 12 degrees where I am. I had my heated throw on today I was that cold.

sydsmum · 23/05/2023 14:56

YANBU. Sleepless nights and sticky days lay ahead. Hate it.

I am eternally and endlessly cold, my husband is convinced I'm some sort of reptile because I just always want to be warmer, so for me that looks like heaven. He's Norwegian and hates anything over 20° and daughter has inherited his love of the cold so they're both dreading it bless them.

Last weekend when it was 23° husband was walking around the house in just shorts whimpering, and I was curled up on the sofa in a fluffy robe, fleece throw and slipper socks. Sometimes I doubt we're the same species.

Ha ha - I’m always gold. Anything below about 20 degrees and I’m miserable.

I’ve l still got a 12.5 tog duvet plus a thick blanket on my bed. I only took the electric blanket off a couple of weeks ago.

When i wfh I’m usually fully dressed with a fleece dressing gown over the top.

I love the years we have a hot summer - 2020 was made by the weather in lockdown. And those few glorious days last year were absolute paradise for me. Perfect

RampantIvy · 23/05/2023 14:59

The first "I hate

RampantIvy · 23/05/2023 15:02

Oops.
The first "I hate summer" thread, and the temperatures are not that hot.

We have had an absolutely miserable spring. All my plants are behind, my heating bills are ridiculous and the reservoirs are full. Now let's have some nice weather for a change.

PurelyBelter · 23/05/2023 15:02

I hate the heat but I worry about the bigger picture more.

PaperSheet · 23/05/2023 15:02

It's nearly June and I haven't left the house without a coat yet. Other than the past week or so it feels like it's rained pretty much every day for months. I'm still wearing long sleeved fluffy pjs around the house. 24° is perfectly normal temperatures for late spring/ early summer. I know everyone on here likes to predict the apocalypse over high temperatures but 24° really isn't it! If it was 24° in January I'd understand!

ActDottie · 23/05/2023 15:02

I don’t think that is even that hot

leilani83 · 23/05/2023 15:04

No mate - I've been waiting for this for months! BRING. IT. ON. 🌞

SaraBarca1 · 23/05/2023 15:05

Temperature is so divisive - I'm happiest at 30 degrees, I finally feel relaxed at that temp. I wasn't even unhappy last summer at 40, I much prefer 40 to 10.

I have friends though who seem almost incapacitated at anything over 20 and just melt in the hot weather. They still get many more days in their favour throughout the year in the UK so I am not that sympathetic!

Ihatepickingausername3 · 23/05/2023 15:08

No! I bloody love it! 😆

Ginmonkeyagain · 23/05/2023 15:09

I undrarand the concerns aboutcimate change but 20/21 degrees is perfectly normal late Spring/early Summer weather in the UK.

As for dry gardens, here in London the place is bursting with verdant greenery after a couple of very wet months

Wexone · 23/05/2023 15:09

Really ? I dunno about anyone else but its been a cold spring, my heating only went off two weeks ago and am still lighting the fire the odd eve. Normally that will be all cleaned out ready till October. Its cold wet and miserable most of the year i relish the sun coming, its only for a few days aswell, it can lash for the whole month of July. Everyone needs a bit of sun, its such a good boost to the mood. BRING IT ON

And a lovely one it is :) no coat needed, but not just going out in t-shirts either. Cardigan/jumper weather. My favourite.

PureBlackVoid · 23/05/2023 15:12

Nope, I’ll save my tears for when its subzero temps and I’m charged £250+ a month to be cold again!

☀️☀️☀️☀️

I need a jacket at those temperatures.
