Is this Manchester?
this coming weekend is first one is as long as I can remember I’m not working, might to come to do the zoo!

BreviloquentBastard · 23/05/2023 14:24

I am eternally and endlessly cold, my husband is convinced I'm some sort of reptile because I just always want to be warmer, so for me that looks like heaven. He's Norwegian and hates anything over 20° and daughter has inherited his love of the cold so they're both dreading it bless them.

Last weekend when it was 23° husband was walking around the house in just shorts whimpering, and I was curled up on the sofa in a fluffy robe, fleece throw and slipper socks. Sometimes I doubt we're the same species.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 23/05/2023 14:24

Yanbu I hate the hot weather unless away on holiday. I love the cold and the rain.

Gymmum82 · 23/05/2023 14:25

Fills me with utter joy. I love hot weather. There is no negatives to us actually getting a summer

tailinthejam · 23/05/2023 14:26

Pretty normal for June. Midsummer's day is the 24th June.

Popetthetreehugger · 23/05/2023 14:26

I know it’s a sign of advancing years …. But my main concern is getting the hose working so my garden doesn’t shrivel up !

Ginmonkeyagain · 23/05/2023 14:30

22 degrees isn't hot. It's perfectly normal and pleasant weather for late May/early June in the UK.

We are going to an outdoor event on Sunday - with temperatures like that i'll wear jeans, sandals and a t shirt and take a light jacket for later.

It is 19 degrees in London today and I am wearing jeans, socks, a long sleeved t shirt and a cotton/wool mix scarf.

Dontsaymyname · 23/05/2023 14:30

YANBU. I'm thinking of the reservoirs, not to mention the planet.

I am in Spain atm and it is cooler here, and raining!

whynotwhatknot · 23/05/2023 14:31

yes my living room is like a greenhouse im dreading it

Moveoverdarlin · 23/05/2023 14:32

I can not wait. It was warm in the South West yesterday and it makes such a difference. I enjoyed hanging the washing out! Driving through country lanes with the windows open, children in their summer gear, we ate outside all weekend. The TV has been off because we are outside until later. I want a long, hot summer, starting from now. If we could have it around 25 degrees between now and the end of September I could put up with the crap winters.

andymary · 23/05/2023 14:33

It looks dreadful to me. I'm always warm, and enjoy the window being open with a cool, fresh breeze. But with these higher temps the last few days it's been getting so stuffy in the office and in the house, and I'm sure it'll only get hotter as the months go on. Who wants to spend 9 hours working in a stuffy, hot office with no air 😰
Have already swapped the duvet over to just a sheet for bedtime.

lieselotte · 23/05/2023 14:34

20 degrees is normal weather for May - it has been stupidly cold this year, and I don't even like hot weather.

YouNeverSeeTheRealMe · 23/05/2023 14:35

I hate hot weather - I'm too fat, I get migraines, and I burn. What's to like?

1984Winston · 23/05/2023 14:37

This is fine, the 30 degrees we had last year was absolutely dreadful, I hated every second of that heatwave

Orangebadger · 23/05/2023 14:37

Nah, these are the best temperature, early to mid 20's. Looking forward to some sunshine!

SW2002 · 23/05/2023 14:37

20-22c is lovely. Any higher, no thanks!

That's warm enough for shorts and to sit out in to eat or read a book or whatever but I don't want to sweat like a beast just going about my daily business.

willWillSmithsmith · 23/05/2023 14:39

LittleHare · 23/05/2023 13:36

I'm in the OP's camp - 18 - 20 degrees all the way here. No more, no less!

Perfect. 21 at a stretch. Warm but not oppressively hot.

penniesmakeshillingsandshillingsmakepounds · 23/05/2023 14:39

Cannot bear the thoughts of it. Hate it.

Vanillaradio · 23/05/2023 14:41

Not dread at all for me. I don't think that looks hot or unusual for the time of year - some of those temperatures are only just in the 20s which imo is definitely not hot. I would prefer it slightly warmer- mid 20s would be perfect for me. It's been unusually cold up to now for May- I'm still wearing a coat to go out and my oodie every evening and ds is still wanting a hot water bottle every night! So slightly warmer temperatures would be great!

Dinkler · 23/05/2023 14:42

Kind of sad that it thrills people. Last year lot of plants and wildlife died off. It's not worth it.

Ardiaei · 23/05/2023 14:42

22 23 is not hot it’s perfectly pleasant and means I can go out without a coat on!

Choccablocca · 23/05/2023 14:44

I'm the same as you. Looks like I might finally be able to put my hot water bottle away 😂

Kennykenkencat · 23/05/2023 14:45

I am not built for the cold and miserable weather we have for nearly all of the rest of the year.

40degrees and I am jogging and running around pain free. I love it. I do a physical job and on the hottest day of the year last year I was sledgehammering a concrete base, putting the concrete slabs in the back of my car and taking them down the tip.
I can work pain free.

i can get out of bed without pain.

Whilst you are enjoying the damp and the cold for the majority of the year, realise how lucky you are that your misery is only a few weeks where as a lot of people with things like arthritis their misery lasts for most of the year and it is only those few weeks that they are pain free

rumpsteak · 23/05/2023 14:45

It's not hot at all

MangosteenSoda · 23/05/2023 14:46

It has been a cold, wet year so some dry sunny days are long overdue.

In real life, I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who dreads weather in the early 20s. Or anyone who freaks out about reservoir levels when a couple of dry weeks are forecast. This falls very much into the ‘only on MN’ category for me.
