I’m so happy to see this. All those winter lovers, snuggly jumpers, boots, comfort food have had their time! Bring on the sun, salad, fresh fruit for breakfast in the garden - it’s our time now!

angela99999 · 23/05/2023 15:59

I hate really hot weather too, particularly if it's humid. I've got a good tower fan and better blinds in my house this year which I'll use when necessary. I've also had holes drilled through my walls for my portable air conditioner hose!

Qbish · 23/05/2023 16:01

We're a maritime climate. It doesn't just keep getting hotter until September.

Hbh17 · 23/05/2023 16:06

What a fabulous forecast, OP - not even hot! I am looking forward to a lovely summer, so I see no reason for any kind of "dread"!

Paperlate · 23/05/2023 16:08

That's not even that hot. Just pleasantly warm. I'm delighted.

Ginmonkeyagain · 23/05/2023 16:08

Well indeed. Even in last years hit weather we had a week in mid July where the week started at nearly 40 degrees and by Friday it was barely 22 degrees.

Warm weather can feel hot this time of year as the sun is suddently stronger - hence the preponderance of accidental sunburn in May. The only time in my life I ha e got sunburnt was in Scotland in early May!

Verbena17 · 23/05/2023 16:15

YANBU!
Anything hotter than over 15 degrees and I’m done in. I hate it!
Last summer was an absolute nightmare and I’m really not looking forward to this summer’s hot temps.

I love sunny and fresh or rainy and mild. And I love winter cold weather.

If I ever say that to anyone IRL they go crazy. I’m like well if you can adore hot weather, I can not adore hot weather. They still don’t get it.

Ilovetocrochet · 23/05/2023 16:21

I love it! Now I am retired, I can sit under my awning and enjoy the warmth. At 24° it’s not too hot to be outside and my house does not get much direct sun so tends to stay cool. I hope the fine weather lasts for a few weeks as I’ve just ordered some new garden furniture which won’t arrive until 14 June - I bet it will rain then!

I appreciate that I now longer have to teach in a hot classroom that resembled a greenhouse with just the slightest hint of sun!

YoucancallmeKAREN · 23/05/2023 16:23

I can't wait🌞

Speermint · 23/05/2023 16:26

Dreadful. It means I have to wear long sleeves and a hat with a wide brim, and cover myself in sticky sunscreen. I’ll be trapped indoors most of the time avoiding the sun. I prefer the autumn when I can go outdoors without worrying about avoiding suntans and wrinkles.

Ginmonkeyagain · 23/05/2023 16:29

@Verbena17 I usspect that they think you are crazy because whilst everyone has different weather and season preferences 15 degrees C is objectively not hot.

StaunchMomma · 23/05/2023 16:30

As a strawberry blonde fatso with white eyelashes I can safely say yes, it's gonna be shite and I will be staying indoors with all the curtains closed for a good month 😂

Maia77 · 23/05/2023 16:32

Love it. 21 degrees is mild. In Croatia (where I'm from) average summer temperature is 30+ and it's pretty much like that for three months. 21 is a spring kind of a temperature.

nokidshere · 23/05/2023 16:33

I'm not a lover of heat but I have my super efficient fans already in use, windows/doors open all day and cold flannels for my neck so I'm good to go. And definitely happy about lower fuel bills

FrownedUpon · 23/05/2023 16:33

It’s just normal May weather. People on here are always moaning, it’s too cold, it’s too hot, too rainy. It’s so annoying.

kethuphouse · 23/05/2023 16:34

It’s June in a couple of weeks ! 20 degrees is perfectly normal for the start of Summer.

ScoobyBooby · 23/05/2023 16:36

Honestly cannot wait for the warmer weather the winter was so long and miserable.

Tophy124 · 23/05/2023 16:41

Sorry OP but this is funny. I live in a country where it’s often 40c and we would consider 20-21c pretty cold (and yes I’m from the UK and know heat can feel slightly warmer in the homes there).
This looks like beautiful weather! If it’s in the 30s and up I wouldn’t think you were unreasonable as it’s hard to cool down in Uk homes with no ac.

speakout · 23/05/2023 16:44

23 degrees is hardly hot.

SundaeLove · 23/05/2023 16:45

allthewoes · 23/05/2023 13:44

Weather in the UK doesn't work like that.

We often have lovely summery weather in May, then June could be a washout. Enjoy it while it lasts ☀️

Exactly, just because we have a warm couple of weeks coming up doesn't mean that July and August will get hotter and hotter, that's one of the things about living on an island, the weather makes it up as it goes along 😂

I love temps around 20-22 max personally.

OliveTree75 · 23/05/2023 16:54

Fills me with joy!

strawberriesandkreme · 23/05/2023 16:55

Out of curiosity, is there any other country in the world where people complain that it's too HOT when don't even reach mid 20 temperatures?

powerrangers · 23/05/2023 16:58

Wow. I'm so gobsmacked at how low people like the temperature. I can't wait for high 20s. 26-28 is perfect for me

@strawberriesandkreme
We wouldn’t be British if we weren’t moaning, it’s part of our cultural heritage 😁
It makes a change from Brexit and the wicked Tories.

Irecan · 23/05/2023 17:00

What? It’s tepid, spring weather at best? I’m in London and can’t wait for the real heat to come. I miss living in the US where it would be proper summer by now and yes like a pp mentioned, in lockdown it was hot from early April all the way through summer, I remember because I nannied and outside time was always the motivator for getting the kids to do their morning schoolwork.

and remember that incredible summer we had in 2018, it was in high 20’s for three months straight, that’s normal in most other countries.
