@countrygirl99

And people with conditions like arthritis suffer more in the cold wet majority of the year.

I've got arthritis as well, so suffer in both the heat and cold/damp, but actually find the heat far worse.

And my dad always found relief in warm weather

I can accept that some of us have a variety of health issues that are affected by the weather, we're not all the same.

Yes, my arthritis is bad when it's cold and damp, then improves when it's warmer, but my Multiple Sclerosis (the source of my heat intolerance) is horrendous in the heat but actually better in the cold.

Of the two, personally, I'd much rather 'suffer' the arthritis than the MS, as I have more than 20 different symptoms that can be triggered by the MS, so if one factor sets off problems, they can be compounded by any (and multiples) of my other associated symptoms, making it the bigger evil.

Hence me saying that my summer electricity bills are higher than my winter ones, because my body handles the cold/cooler temperatures better, so I keep my home at a pretty constant 11-14⁰C all year round, which is far easier/cheaper between September and May than it is from June to August!

I appreciate you have complex needs and it sounds like you suffer all year. But whenever there is a thread like this you will get people saying they suffer in the heat with no recognition that for some people heat eases their condition.

Yes, but maybe not for a reason that immediately occurs to many. I discovered quite late in life I am anaphylactic (survived a sting, covered in hives and adrenalin-injected at hospital), two squamous cell carcinomas neatly excised from my forehead (exposure to a hot climate when very young, I was told). Now, I mostly stay out of the sun entirely until 5 o'clock. I am aghast at Bournemouth on TV (choose your beach), packed with citizenry gaily basting their bodies in fierce exposure, many later turning tearfully to the over-burdened NHS when retribution arrives. On holiday, I've always cowered out of the sun, well-clothed, no doubt silently mocked by those besporting theirr tanned frames on deck chairs around the pool

I still enjoy the sun and warm weather even if I don't sit in it. I am waiting for a BCC to be removed and wear factor 50 and can cover up where it is, but being able see my garden thrive, dry my washing in nature's tumble dryer and just not feel cold all the time is a win for me.
