He’s had a lot to say this morning, probably things, he, and many others, have wanted to say for a long time, very interesting. He and Ruth seem to be v well
liked and respected in the industry and are good, decent people.
It seems karma is working it’s magic, which is so rare with workplace bullies and arseholes, I’m so here for it. May the decent people prevail!

Yes yes! I would happily watch them together!

That would be amazing. I might start watching if that happened. You should be producing the show.

Eamonn is a product of his upbringing and he can come across as misogynistic at times. Funnily enough, I don’t think he’s pompous. If you watch that clip for example, he acknowledges how unimportant morning tv is in the scheme of things as most people are out when it’s on.

Can you tell us something about his upbringing, I don't know anything about it so don't know how it has made him misogynistic.

I just meant that he’s a white middle aged man of a certain age … nothing more than that … and if you look at his Wikipedia page there’s a heading titled “controversies” of which he has (allegedly) been involved in quite a few.

He has been involved in controversies but why blame his upbringing? He's had far more years as an adult than a child, if and it's a big if, his upbringing taught him to be a misogynist then he needs to educate himself. I'm older than him and I know plenty of men his age and older who don't share his views so to me saying it is because he's a white man of a certain age is a cop out.

He managed to get over his Catholic upbringing when it suited him to get a divorce so no reason why he should be making racist/sexist remarks.

Well why disingenuously ask about his upbringing if you already know all about it?

xoomer · 25/05/2023 07:06

Lots of people in the industry are supporting EM. He socialises with them lots. Just Google photos of him. When do you ever see PS doing the same?

RL wouldn't put up with him if he's as bad as some of you make out.

Abitofquietinthemorningplease · 25/05/2023 08:45

@xoomer Exactly, I really like him and they seem v well liked

I know he's a Catholic from Northern Ireland, my background also. Funnily enough nothing in my or my male siblings upbringing made us misogynists so I wondered what particular part of his upbringing was responsible for his attitude. You quoted about his upbringing being responsible so I assumed you had some specific knowledge but obviously you don't.

Wow so if you don't socialise with people from work it proves what exactly?

Sigh. You seem very invested in this Iwasafool

I’m Catholic too… and I admire Eamonn for speaking up.

Can we please leave it at that? You obviously didn’t register the “and”
in the following sentence… the two aren’t connected necessarily.

“Eamonn is a product of his upbringing and he can come across as misogynistic at times”

I was referring to his age. Lots of older men are more misogynistic. Nothing to do with whether your family are or not.

Oh yes I can imagine someone asking you to explain about his upbringing seems over invested. Maybe making up excuses for him means you're a bit overinvested.

xoomer · 25/05/2023 22:00

@Iwasafool Wow back at you.

BonnieBobbin · 26/05/2023 20:04

Well it turns out PS has left ITV completely, admitted he had a relationship with the much younger male runner (but it wasn't illegal!) , that he cheated on his wife; that he lied to ITV, his friends, his colleagues and his management agency (who have now dropped him) and that as far as he knows there wasn't ever any type of injunction covering any of this.
It doesn't mean there wasn't an injunction because it could have been put in place by members of his team without his knowledge. Or, the media did what they did with other potential scandals, and all just agreed to look the other way because PS was denying everything.
Other ITV presenters have come forward and said they complained to management about his relationship with the runner and the management did nothing.

Rosesandstars · 26/05/2023 20:12

Eamonn used to be blatantly mean to Ruth on 'This Morning' though.

Yes he snubbed her and treated her as inferior to himself. One of the many reasons I can't stand him and am not the slightest bit interested in his bad legs or whatever. I can't believe anybody is, but he's keen to tell the world. Let the young talent through, for god's sake.

Stabee · 26/05/2023 20:19

I say that as an older person by the way. I don't believe the very few prestigious jobs in the BBC should be held for 40 years by a few people.

BonnieBobbin · 26/05/2023 20:44

Since PS' statement admitting his affair and his lies, lots of other presenters and guests are coming forward with stories about what went on.

Inawoodtherelived · 27/05/2023 09:01

Well, Eamonn may come across as being misogynistic at times but he was definitely on the right side when it came to this story involving PS. He and his wife Ruth took a hit on their careers for speaking up too. And by the sound of it, speaking up and putting in a formal complaint was not (allegedly) an easy thing to do either.

They got sacked and likely called names for looking out for a vulnerable young lad rather than safeguarding the charismatic predator.

Nobody is perfect, they are not nice like others, others who seem nice are risky, Eamonn and Ruth are not risky, I don't like risky, risky is dangerous.

The older I get, the more I come across examples of where the outwardly curmudgeonly and grumpy turn out to be good folk and the smiley and agreeable, not so much …

Thank you @VikingLady , @TheFairyCaravan @tuvamoodyson @AbreathofFrenchair for attempting to set me straight.

I still had to Google because yes, I know he was the Not Drink Driving One, I didn't watch Byker Grove and I couldn't picture their heights.

He's the one who looks like a friendly wee lad, not the one with the big forehead.

'Big forehead?' Lol which one has a big forehead? Lol!!!!!!

Top headline of Daily Mail, it's mostly all there!

So a bunch of lies, then

bellac11 · 30/05/2023 21:32

When people say that colleagues and other workers reported the affair, reported it to who and on what basis?

What were they concerned about, had the young man made allegations about Schofield?
