’Multiple near collisions’ ‘Could have been fatal’… Yeah but it wasn’t thought was it?! Surely there’s more important news stories to take up all the news channels with! Right?

History really seems to be repeating itself for poor old Harry - first, his calls are being bugged just like his father and now he's very nearly been killed exactly like his mother. Or possibly he is a very damaged person suffering from serious paranoia who should be in treatment and not gallivanting around the globe, and if his wife really loved him she would surely be saying the same rather than grinning happily whenever she spots an 'evil pap'. Or... he and she are both just making up crap to get attention which means more money. I'm not sure whether it's worse if he's suffering such significant mental health issues that he's reliving his parents' traumas or if he's using his parents' traumas to get attention and cash.

DeeCeeCherry · 18/05/2023 01:18

Some disgusting comments in this thread. They are people. H&M have young children. UK hostility towards them is off the scale to the point some are a really hoping and watching for harm against them. Madness.

I don't doubt that it was distressing for Harry and Meghan. But they bear some responsibility for the situation in my opinion. Apparently they were staying with a friend and they drive around New York for an hour trying to lose the photographers because they didn't want to disclose the location of their friends house. But appearing at a glitzy event was guaranteed to get them attention and it's not really the night to stay with your mate! They should have stayed at a hotel close to the venue and accept that there would be photographers on the route. When they couldn't shake off the paps, they stopped at a police station and then left in a taxi in another attempt to lose the photographers. But presumably the taxi driver wasn't vetted - he could have been anyone! And they weren't wearing seatbelts which just beggars belief. They didn't plan properly and do not have good advisors.

Your solution is far too simple, and wouldn't fit in with their perpetual victims narrative.

Humanbiology · 18/05/2023 01:43

DeeCeeCherry 800,000 people could lose their jobs if the Brexit deal isn't amended but they would rather get angry with H and M. English people are sheep they will allow this government to lie and make them poor and now they are begging the government to help them. Even Farage is looking red faced it didn't work out for them. Let's take the heat of the real issues and chat shit about Harry and Meghan. I know what the Brexit vote was all about but they have to get over that a black woman has married a prince and they have children. LOVE AND RESPECT HARRY AND MEGHAN.

DeeCeeCherry · 18/05/2023 02:08

Humanbiology Yes. H&M trigger racists, people who are disappointed in their lives, clickbait journalists making a living from scorning H&M because they know dull-witted people will lap it up. Negativity and hate sells.

Meghan's said nothing for months, rightfully she's not bothering with UK nonsense. Yet to listen to crazies you'd think she's going into print daily, and courting their attention. She isn't. & They can't stand it. So they won't shut up about her - yet pretend she won't shut up about them.

Not to mention those who speak as if Harry was their man that got away. Government and media do as they please as manipulative hateful diversion is easy, The Daily Heil is the order of the day.

Azealeasinbloom · 17/05/2023 18:48

I have no strong feelings with H&M, but I cannot help wondering why they would have their driver engage in such a chase , knowing , so tragically, what can happen ?
and I think the fact that their spokesperson was the one to announce it smells of attention seeking.
Which is a shame, Meghan had made the news at the awards ceremony, and did not need the attempt at linking them back to Diana.

It was a taxi, a yellow cab.

And the NYC mayor commented on it.

EpicChaos · 18/05/2023 03:30

If they genuinely thought that they were in any danger, what the hell right did they think they had to endanger the life of an innocent taxi driver??? Not to mention bystanders/pedestrians/other drivers, etc.
They left fully trained security guards and police, to endanger someone with no relevant security training and no special driving skills!
How bloody dare they?!
Just like when he ordered someone to drive through the tunnel in Paris at high speed!
It comes across like other people are disposable to him, just as long as he gets what he wants!

🤣🤣🤣

Sheisthedarkness · 18/05/2023 04:10

The Mayor Eric Adams has also said “I would find it hard to believe that there was a two-hour high speed chase”

While the cabdriver is quoted as saying ‘“I don’t think I would call it a chase,” he said. “I never felt like I was in danger.’

(the full quote so it can be read in context)
‘Washington Post as saying ‘Singh told the Washington Post he drove them for about 10 minutes while being pursued by two vehicles.
“They kept following us and were coming next to the car. They took pictures as we stopped and were filming us,” Singh said.
“I don’t think I would call it a chase,” he said. “I never felt like I was in danger. It wasn’t like a car chase in a movie. They were quiet and seemed scared but it’s New York – it’s safe.”
Singh told the Associated Press the group “didn’t say much” but left a generous tip.’ ‘

This is a very good point. Especially the last comment about people being disposable. And the taxi driver got paid a few dollars, which sounds like the going rate.

His mother died because she was being driven by a drunk driver.

And because she wasn’t wearing a seat belt.

And because they were being chased by the paparazzi. You have to be a special kind of mean person to ignore the root cause!!

Felixoo · 18/05/2023 05:02

I'm actually getting really worried about Harry he seems so paranoid almost delusional. They aren't a good match she seems to feed into it instead of adding happiness to each others lives. They are both toxic together.

Oh right, so because the UK have other problems, suddenly we're not allowed to actually talk about our opinions about anything else, righto! 🙄
Many people actually see right through H&M and their bull shit, and we're perfectly entitled to say so
Others on the thread have pointed out H is suffering MH issues, M isn't helping him clearly, let's hope Doria is able to help him somehow as they've managed to cut off the rest of his support network

What’s mean about stating that tragic and key factor? Of course they were being chased by the paparazzi, but that doesn’t change the fact that Henri Paul was drunk and on medication, and the investigations found him grossly negligent and solely responsible for the crash. Diana died from a tiny gash in her lungs - she’d have survived if she’d worn that belt.

Paparazzi have cameras, not guns. The worst thing they can do to you is take your photograph, unless you go tearing off and turn it into a car chase. That can kill you.

DownNative · 18/05/2023 06:47

NYPD, NY Mayor and the taxi driver have all pushed right back against the Sussexes overly dramatic account of a "car chase".

Another one that shows H & M being economical with the truth....🤷‍♂️

pilates · 18/05/2023 06:56

I think it’s a classic case of “recollections may vary”. Harry needs help.

That's true too. I think though if someone you loved was killed in a similar situation the driver wouldn't be the first person you blamed. It's disingenuous to say otherwise. It's quite disgusting if anyone thinks it was acceptable how Diana was chased by paparazzi. Can't say I was a fan of hers, but even I'm not so pig-headed to not see it was wrong and extremely intrusive and should not have been allowed

Like I said root cause, there would have been no accident if she wasn't being chased in the first place. It makes no difference to me who she was, I just think two young children unnecessarily lost their mother due to the people who created the demand for paparazzi in the first place

dayswithaY · 18/05/2023 07:22

Such a shame they had to spoil what was a special night for Meghan - there was a positive response to her in that lovely gold outfit, receiving an award.

But no, they have to release a ridiculously over the top statement about a minor incident. Two hours being pursued in a car chase? Were they driving to Canada? Even the police put them in a taxi to get rid of them.

They remind me of the office bore who comes in every morning and breathlessly tells a dramatic story about their journey into work, while everyone stares at their screen and ignores them.

Willyoujustbequiet · 18/05/2023 07:29

Their taxi driver almost laughs at their description of the chase in his interview.

Same desperate attempt to play eternal victims and gain attention just like in Oprah and his book?

People aren't fooled anymore.

I’m not saying it isn’t awful to be harassed by press but Diana died as a result of multiple poor decisions. They had no need to run away from the paps that night, they were in a safe place. We all know what happened next.

H&M were being followed by paps trying to see where they were going next which is legal in NYC. H&M wanted to shake them off so they drove around with their entourage and created a drama. They could have just gone to a hotel if going back to their digs was such a massive issue. Getting out of your secure car and into a yellow cab so that a bunch of photographers don’t get to know where you’re staying is utterly ludicrous. Like everything else they do it stinks of bullshit.

They’ll do anything to link themselves to Diana

Umm she was his mother!
