’Multiple near collisions’ ‘Could have been fatal’… Yeah but it wasn’t thought was it?! Surely there’s more important news stories to take up all the news channels with! Right?

Sounds abit made up to me...

Wonnle · 18/05/2023 07:32

It's being reported as alleged now !

More publicity for the couple who want to stay private

Like I said root cause, there would have been no accident if she wasn't being chased in the first place. It makes no difference to me who she was, I just think two young children unnecessarily lost their mother due to the people who created the demand for paparazzi in the first place

I certainly agree there, I was horrified by the whole thing and wished they’d locked the paparazzi up at the time.

custardbear · 18/05/2023 07:34

@x2boys - I think they mean jump on her bandwagon so Megain can jettison herself into a 'caring person admired by millions' when actually she's seen as a bit of a joke and any incident like this the world rolls it's eyes 🙄 because it's all self centred, self promotional nonsense

Given what has been said about her in the past , she may have even set this all up .

Gilmorehill · 18/05/2023 07:42

Could someone please explain why they got out of their car and into the taxi? It makes no sense to me.

YouWonJayne · 18/05/2023 07:42

KittyAlfred · 17/05/2023 22:56

It’s an irony that they left the UK to escape the publicity and paparazzi , and moved to USA, where they got themselves as much publicity as they could. And now it turns the American paparazzi are no different from the UK!

Actually British paps have a silent agreement with the RF, and have for some time now, that no paparazzi shots will be taken as long as the RF provide ample opportunities for photo calls. If you see a paparazzi shot of a member of the RF in the UK it’s because it’s taken by the foreign press.

So actually if they were still working Royals and living here this wouldn’t have happened unless a foreign press pap bothered to dog them - which for the expenses of flights and accommodation to the UK probably wouldnt be worth it unless they were papping and affair or similar.

They’re not moving because there was a crash.

Even though NYPD confirmed there were no collisions?

Ah but this is the very same attitude some men have towards women who dare step foot outside their house, they're "asking" to be stalked, harassed, videoed and photographed by willingly being out in public - at the gym, going shopping, working, attending a concert, or God forbid holding any kind of public position or power at all. Pretty depressing the "they were asking for it" attitude is still so prevalent at all levels of society.

IMO there is never, ever any excuse for stalking, harassing or intimidating anyone, I don't care how famous the person is or how much the public think they "deserve it". It's not ok at any level and it's time paparazzi were held accountable the same as anyone else who behaves this way - with restraining orders and criminal charges for breach of said orders.

Nonone is stalking H&M in the way ex boyfriend stalk women.

I have been stalked by an ex. I didn’t have my own security, put out details of highly publicised events where I’d be and otherwise court attention for my own gains.

What I experienced is nothing like what they experience.

Whenharrymetsmelly · 18/05/2023 07:45

PinkTonic · 18/05/2023 07:29

I’m not saying it isn’t awful to be harassed by press but Diana died as a result of multiple poor decisions. They had no need to run away from the paps that night, they were in a safe place. We all know what happened next.

H&M were being followed by paps trying to see where they were going next which is legal in NYC. H&M wanted to shake them off so they drove around with their entourage and created a drama. They could have just gone to a hotel if going back to their digs was such a massive issue. Getting out of your secure car and into a yellow cab so that a bunch of photographers don’t get to know where you’re staying is utterly ludicrous. Like everything else they do it stinks of bullshit.

I agree re multiple poor decisions, but I guess that night she had enough and just wanted some privacy and fair enough. Sad it cost her life 😔

History really seems to be repeating itself for poor old Harry - first, his calls are being bugged just like his father and now he's very nearly been killed exactly like his mother. Or possibly he is a very damaged person suffering from serious paranoia who should be in treatment and not gallivanting around the globe, and if his wife really loved him she would surely be saying the same rather than grinning happily whenever she spots an 'evil pap'. Or... he and she are both just making up crap to get attention which means more money. I'm not sure whether it's worse if he's suffering such significant mental health issues that he's reliving his parents' traumas or if he's using his parents' traumas to get attention and cash.

I wonder how much of his self confessed drug use plays a part in his OTT paranoia

Gilmorehill · 18/05/2023 07:42

Could someone please explain why they got out of their car and into the taxi? It makes no sense to me.

They apparently had a "security officer" with them. Seems like the "security officer" made a series of very bad decisions.

What it seems to boil down to is is that they are defining "being followed by a few cars" as "a near catastrophic car crash".

THEY were the ones who made the decision to drive around for hours to throw off the paps rather than going straight back to wherever they were staying. THEY were the ones who did the whole stopping at the police station, into a cab, out of a cab nonsense.

What SHOULD have happened the second they spotted a pap following is that security gets on the phone to the police, says they are being annoyed, he is taking them to X address and could the police please make sure there are a couple of officer at the friend's house so his VIPs can get inside right away? But handling the situation in that way doesn't leave any scope for a breathless, dramatic, "near catastrophic" statement.

I mean, who cares who they were staying with. That's not newsworthy.

DeeCeeCherry 800,000 people could lose their jobs if the Brexit deal isn't amended but they would rather get angry with H and M. English people are sheep they will allow this government to lie and make them poor and now they are begging the government to help them. Even Farage is looking red faced it didn't work out for them. Let's take the heat of the real issues and chat shit about Harry and Meghan. I know what the Brexit vote was all about but they have to get over that a black woman has married a prince and they have children. LOVE AND RESPECT HARRY AND MEGHAN.

Oh FGS it’s not one or the other people can care about Brexit and also have an opinion on H&M.

ILL LOVE WHO I WANT THANKS AND IT ISNT THIS PAIR OF CLOWNS.

Also no one cares that she’s mixed race. They had immense amounts of support until they started sulking about their privileged lives.

Wonnle · 18/05/2023 07:51

Can't wait for the South Park version !

Sugarfree23 · 18/05/2023 07:51

Has anyone found video footage yet?
I'm getting the feeling this is a lot of hot air. H&M probably had a phone with camera each.
Near catastrophic - really?

I almost get the feeling they are trying to make themselves seem important.

CosmosQueen · 18/05/2023 07:44

And no cctv showing a car chase either?

I think there was an incident further up the road and they just got caught in the traffic jam behind. The police behind them with the flashing lights and sirens weren't for them but for the other incident. There was a report in a newspaper from a bystander.

It hardly looked like they were being mobbed by paps and no one was following them. But I'm sure there will be lots of videos that will come out showing vehicles on pavements, etc.

Such a shame they had to spoil what was a special night for Meghan - there was a positive response to her in that lovely gold outfit, receiving an award.

But no, they have to release a ridiculously over the top statement about a minor incident. Two hours being pursued in a car chase? Were they driving to Canada? Even the police put them in a taxi to get rid of them.

They remind me of the office bore who comes in every morning and breathlessly tells a dramatic story about their journey into work, while everyone stares at their screen and ignores them.

Its a shame because that night isn’t about whatever it was about it’s now about this nonsense.

Re the awards - Meghan and Doria look like sisters, her mum is so youthful and gorgeous and Meghan was stunning!

maranella · 18/05/2023 07:54

They're really unpopular - this is an easy way for them to gain people's sympathy - particularly as it mirrors how Diana died. I think it's typically cynical of them. The taxi driver went on CNN last night and disputed their version of events.

Sisters ?

Should have gone to Specsavers !

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 18/05/2023 07:58

All they needed to do was drive at a normal speed directly to where they were staying and when they got there, have their security prevent paps from
entering. So what if paps got a photo in the car or outside the car? Winding the situation up by getting in a car chase helps no one. Poor decision making by their driver and security-as well as them obviously.

The pap agency has said that it was the H&M security detail blacked out SUVs that were driving dangerously and recklessly.

All this sounds like a scene from a John Wick movie where there’s high speed carnage on the city streets but nobody notices anything.
