Petty AIBU but… sandwiches!

I make my partner sandwiches to take to the office most weekdays.

I do this in the evening then put them in the fridge for him to take in the morning.

If he decides to work from home instead, he still eats the sandwiches, despite lots of other options instead - eggs on toast, salad, quiche etc we have in the house.

This annoys me as it seems so lazy and I have sandwiches to make again for the next day. He could save the ones I made for the following day.

I’d love to know if this would annoy others too. It drives me mad.

Tell him to make his own lunches. Every day.

Flyinggeesei234 · 15/05/2023 12:56

As to why I make his lunch, he does stuff for me too, this is just how we’ve divided some tasks up.

In fairness I wouldn't fancy 2 day old sandwiches either.

Although why doesn't he make his own? That bit would annoy me more.

Brendabigbaps · 15/05/2023 12:57

I wouldn’t want to eat 2 day old sandwiches

Stop making him any sandwiches

Your life will be happier and he can be a grown up

TheFlis12345 · 15/05/2023 12:57

Who wants to eat 2 day old sandwiches?!? YABU.

Daisydu · 15/05/2023 12:57

I wouldn’t eat 2 day old sandwiches…

Ted27 · 15/05/2023 12:57

Well I woudn’t want two day old sandwhiches for lunch

But I wouldn’t be making my partner’s lunch anyway

Needanewnamebeingwatched · 15/05/2023 12:58

Also who wants old sandwiches 🥪 🤷‍♀️

Dishwashersaurous · 15/05/2023 12:58

Two day old sandwiches are horrible.

Even when I work from home I'm so busy that I don't have time to do anything other than grab a pre made sandwich.

If you resent it then just don't make them

londonrach · 15/05/2023 12:58

Sorry but sandwiches need to be eaten that day.

YouWonJayne · 15/05/2023 12:59

Are you from 1940?

Why on Earth are you making a grown man sandwiches?!

This problem is easily solvable: he can make his own

Ktime · 15/05/2023 12:59

He needs to tell you the day before if he is working OOH or OOO.

JustRingJoeDuffy · 15/05/2023 12:59

I'd be more annoyed and he didn't have them for lunch at all!

Asparename · 15/05/2023 12:59

He should be making his own sandwiches. But also sandwiches aren’t more complicated to make than the other options that you have for lunch and also fresher sandwiches are nicer.

TheRowdy3 · 15/05/2023 12:59

Why are you making his sandwiches?

My OH hates making sandwiches, I don't mind. If he was WFH they would eat something else because they CBA making sandwiches to take out for lunch.

Does he have a set working schedule?

7Worfs · 15/05/2023 13:00

Massive YABU. Two-day old sandwiches would be tasteless mush.

YouWonJayne · 15/05/2023 13:00

Brendabigbaps · 15/05/2023 12:57

I wouldn’t want to eat 2 day old sandwiches

Also this.

In fact having sandwiches made the night before and put in the fridge makes me wanna heave. They must be stale by the time you’d eat them!

FlounderingFruitcake · 15/05/2023 13:01

If they’re already made then it seems perfectly sensible to eat them if WFH. Saving them another day and eating 2 day old soggy sandwiches is gross. However, if you’d like him to be a grown up and start making his own lunch then totally fair enough. It’s a bit weird to make it all about the location though!

bananaboats · 15/05/2023 13:01

I thought you were going to say your annoyed that he doesn't eat them! YABU noone wants 2 day old sandwiches

Scoobydoobydoobydoo0987 · 15/05/2023 13:01

Jeez, I wouldn't want 2 day old sandwiches. I thought the problem would be that he isn't eating them!

Booklover40 · 15/05/2023 13:01

I started making dh sandwiches as he moaned he couldn't buy brown bread ones in the shop near his office.

For five days on the run he forgot to take them out of the fridge. So I stopped making them - simple. He still moans about having to buy white bread sandwiches. It doesn't seem to occur to him to make some himself and take them to work - lazy sod.

BarbaraofSeville · 15/05/2023 13:01

He probably can't see the difference.

Your agreed division of tasks means that you make his lunch for him I hope you get something good in return.

Therefore, if he didn't eat the sandwich, you'd need to make him his salad, eggs, quiche or whatever as his lunch is 'your job'. Or he's just seeing the sandwich and thinking 'lunch today'.

If you're actually hoping he'll just make his own lunch when he's at home, as in making his own salad, then why doesn't he just do that every day, whether he's at home or the office?

TheRowdy3 · 15/05/2023 13:02

I make sandwiches for 2 or 3 days. Very boring, no salad keep ok. Oh would rather eat those than make them himself. I prefer fresh every day for myself if I'm in the office.

FredaFox · 15/05/2023 13:02

I hate sandwiches made the night before, I'd rather get up earlier and make them

As for 2 day old sandwiches, no ta
