Letting children wee in the night yes or no?

ToWeeornotToWee · 14/05/2023 20:39

Do you let your children wee during the night? I’m talking school age children who are old enough to hold out till morning.

Imagine the noise of them using the toilet wakes up the grown ups in the house disturbing their sleep.

Does that change your opinion?

How can you stop someone using the toilet in the night?! If they wake and need to go, they go surely

Lackofimagination · 14/05/2023 20:40

Why on earth would you restrict them from going to the toilet in the night? I cannot fathom it. No need to flush anyway if worried about waking others.

CooCooCaChu · 14/05/2023 20:40

Surely no one would refuse to let anyone use a toilet whenever they need to?!

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 14/05/2023 20:40

I don’t understand what you’re asking. There’s no letting my children wee or not wee during the night. If they need a wee they go. Are you actually suggesting that they hold it in until the morning????

chipsandpeas · 14/05/2023 20:40

Wtf if they need to go then they go

Pammela · 14/05/2023 20:40

This is mental. Swap going for a pee with dealing with urine infections.

Paperlate · 14/05/2023 20:41

WTF?

Rockschooldropout · 14/05/2023 20:41

Are you for real ? 😳

Shoxfordian · 14/05/2023 20:41

Is that really a question? Of course they should go for a wee and flush the toilet- leaving it is disgusting

1FootInTheRave · 14/05/2023 20:41

Wtf?

If this is for real, you are a disgrace.

MakesMeFeelSad · 14/05/2023 20:41

What? I often need to go for a wee in the night. Why would I make children hold it.

DancingintheSpoonlight · 14/05/2023 20:41

…you are extremely unreasonable. Just have a rule not to flush but ffs that’s barbaric to just “not let them”. Water/kidney infections can be awful too

Circe7 · 14/05/2023 20:41

I would. If I need a wee during the night I go. I certainly wouldn’t make young children wait. They’d be really uncomfortable. It’s not good to hold in wee for a long time anyway.

noseposey · 14/05/2023 20:41

😂😂😂 it would be a bit hypocritical of me considering I normally have to pee in the night. How could you stop them? Why would you want to? Just ask them not to flush?

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 14/05/2023 20:42

Why on earth would you stop a child using the toilet when they needed to?

I'm an adult and I've always needed to get up to pee during the night. If someone tried to stop me I'd tell them to fuck off, quite frankly.

It should be no different for children.

FortofPud · 14/05/2023 20:42

I think stopping them having access to the toilet would be dreadful, regardless of who it wakes. I might have a rule about a specific toilet (eg please don't come and use my en-suite in the night as it wakes me, use the main bathroom), but access to a toilet is a basic need that it's abuse to withhold.

mousedogbirdcat · 14/05/2023 20:42

I do hope you are a troll because if your not I'd say this was abusive.

AtrociousCircumstance · 14/05/2023 20:42

I’m assuming this happened to you as a kid. If so, I’m sorry. No, it’s not ok to stop children going to the loo at any time they need to.

mfms · 14/05/2023 20:42

Mine go when they need to go. Regardless of noise or time

Theimpossiblegirl · 14/05/2023 20:42

Surely it's a basic right? To go to the toilet when needed?

Hercisback · 14/05/2023 20:42

WTF.

eatdrinkandbemerry · 14/05/2023 20:42

Batshit crazy 🙄

Oldnproud · 14/05/2023 20:42

If your flushing toilet is noisy enough to wake people up, get your plumbing sorted or buy ear plugs!

JanesSadLittleLife · 14/05/2023 20:42

Are your children cocker spaniels?

SingingWaffleDoggy · 14/05/2023 20:43

Anyone, child or adult, should be able to use the toilet whenever they feel that it would make them more comfortable.
Maybe if you’re a VERY light sleeper ask that they don’t flush for a wee
