I feel sick watching king charles

I don't want him as king. I feel sick watching a bit of the coronation this morning. I just caught a bit of it and I felt ill.

We are not subjects. It's 2023.
I don't want to be like an animal with an owner
I don't like the man. He has had so many scandals and bad friends. Why should he be allowed to rule over us.
This stuff shouldn't be going on in 2023.

Anyone think the same?

I can't believe people are so blasé about a hereditary monarchy in 2023. If I were British I would be out on the streets. Not my problem though. I'm just surprised at so many people who put their head in the sand.

Novella4 · 06/05/2023 12:00

@Noontimes

Oh yes of course the law

The laws that the queen and Charles get to pick over 1600 times to make sure they can exclude themselves from anything they don't like the look of

That law ?

Going against the grain on this thread is seems, but I'm with you OP. The queens coronation was in a completely different time, people didn't have the information back then about how much it all costs us and how much influence they genuinely do still have, I was sort of ok with the queen rumbling on in the background as a relic from a bygone age, but this new coronation just seems insane in 2023, it highlights the power of a completely unelected leader and yes they do still have power, and unbelievable wealth and land and we are subjects, serfs, in 2023!

How much does an American Presidential race cost? (and look who you end up with there and they DO have power- mostly)

And I know they have to raise money themselves - which buys influence

Jins2023 · 06/05/2023 12:00

He's the exact same age as my mother. My mother has been lying in a hospital bed for three weeks with metastatic bone cancer. The oncologist has gone on holiday and she seems to have been forgotten. I can't get any answers out of anyone. They're just giving her paracetamol and keep telling me there's going to be a meeting. I bet King Charles wouldn't be left in a bed for three weeks with paracetamol. And my mother's a much better person than he is. MUCH.

If I turn it off, it doesn't stop it from happening, does it?

The point is that I object to having him as King . I was wondering does anyone else feel the same

If you’re lucky, you could have Putin in charge? Would that make you feel better?

QueenMegan · 06/05/2023 12:02

I actually forgot to watch.
I respected the Queen as I would any hard working lady. He is a grumpy selfish opinionated old bastard. Not king material at all. Very fitting weather. He'll hate that.

It's lovely and sunny 🌞 where I am.

There are like 12 monarchies in europe only....

Yeah because Britain is the only European country with a monarchy…

So he’s just put on the ‘Robes of righteousness and garments of salvation’ 🙄

Do people really believe robes give these attributes? Bloody hell.

Of course not. It's symbolic.

Novella4 · 06/05/2023 12:05

@Skyblue92

It's the only one with a bloody coronation hence the laughable robes !

Darkandstormynite · 06/05/2023 12:06

I understand what you are saying OP.

I'm ashamed we have a royal family in this day and age, and what that says about our values as a country.

Those that throw out the Boris or Putin argument spectacularly overlook how it could have easily been Andrew being crowned today. Its simply an accident of birth.

Turn it off and find something else that gives you peace.

PrettyMaybug · 06/05/2023 12:06

Go get yourself a bucket out of the shed then @Mooshamoo

PMSL what a stupid thread. 😆 Bet you think you are soooo edgy and original posting this. Get a grip.

5128gap · 06/05/2023 12:06

Deadpalm · 06/05/2023 11:50

I wouldn't say this. Didn't go down well last time when people had genuine concerns 😳

It doesn't go down well because the 'concerns' are rarely genuine. Attempting to close down the views of someone by suggesting they must have MH problems to hold those views, rather than offering a counter argument is offensive, lazy and transparent. The OPs language was indeed dramatic. We covered that off on page one. She also put forward some points for discussion. The people who disagree with her, but can't form a coherent argument as to why, keep returning to her language to discredit her.

Fascist degree of control over the BBC coverage. Barely any focus on Kate and the kids or on Harry. That's why I have been listening more than watching.

If you don't like it....why not move?

Opinionated?

Yes.

About the environment. About biodiversity. About architecture. About so much more.

He has done much for disadvantaged youth.

He gets a bee in his bonnet and can get experts together to talk and sort.

Why is he not king material?

Today isn't about them, though.

loislovesstewie · 06/05/2023 12:08

As its the coronation I wouldn't expect the focus to be on the Princess of Wales or her kids. I'm not sure what you were expecting?

Aslanplustwo · 06/05/2023 12:08

pleasehelpwi3 · 06/05/2023 11:54

You're wrong- it does effect your life due to the money the ceremony and the whole family costs. Child in an underfunded school? Ever had to wait for a dr's appt? Driven over a pot hole? Maybe if we didn't have a family with about £350 bn worth of public assets as its own, we could fund other stuff properly.

Can you really be so naive??? Those issues are all the fault of the Royal Farmily are they, nothing whatsoever to do with your government??

Why would coverage of the coronation focus on Kate, the kids or Harry?

BusFullOfCats · 06/05/2023 12:09

Totally agree, seeing this wanker parade about in his fancy carriage while people are struggling to feed their families is sickening! I find royalists to be embarrassing at best, can’t imagine supporting the idea of a random twit being ‘chosen’ to rule over me 🤢

I know it isn't but they should move the cameras around during the hymns at least.. as you would see other royals attending royal weddings.

Zebedee55 · 06/05/2023 12:12

I'm not interested in the RF at all, so not watching or listening to any if it.

In a few days, the news will be back to current issues. Just a case of avoiding it all.
