So today someone has released a new video outlining the chef/campaigner Jack Monroe's many many lies AND it was announced today that one of her previous donors has been successful in getting her summoned to court to address an unpaid CCJ. As someone who has been irritated by her obvious lies for years I can't deny I'm so happy word is getting out!

Haha 👏🏻 👏🏻

HatchetJob · 16/05/2023 10:14

And she hasn’t sued 30p Lee despite taking lots of donations into her private PayPal, there were better options if you want to be above board with this kind of thing. This can’t end well.
I imagine it was a huge amount of money and I wouldn’t be surprised if she doesn’t have it anymore.

Handsnotwands · 16/05/2023 10:17

oh i'd forgotten the 30p lee thing, didn't he accuse her of earning more than the PM or something, she said she's take him to court to prove that wasn't the case and then.....

HatchetJob · 16/05/2023 10:42

That’s it. She’s said several times that papers have been served and lawyers have been instructed. They’ve now come out and said they have heard nothing from her or her lawyers.
I can’t see how it’s not fraudulent.

BirbFriend · 16/05/2023 10:52

She's such a dirty lying grifter.

potniatheron · 16/05/2023 11:16

I believe she has some mental health struggles and also that she struggles with fame. Whilst I have sympathy in that respect, I do think that she does tend to give it the Big I Am on Twitter and then not follow through.

I understand that she used to do a lot of good work in highlighting the severe challenges faced by the low waged, but if her Twitter persona is now threatening to overshadow that, then I think she perhaps needs to ask herself if Twitter is the right platform for her.

NameChangePoP · 16/05/2023 11:18

Damn, the video has been removed from YouTube - really wanted to watch it!

HatchetJob · 16/05/2023 12:01

I’m struggling to see what good work she has done. She’s willing to pretend that she’s done work and take credit for things others have done certainly. I think she just wants to be famous.
Last summer she was still pretending to be very poor, I’m sure that led to a wave of donations as well. She can’t leave Twitter, it’s where her money comes from.

I think she plays the mental health card when it suits. She frequently suggests she is suicidal and then a few days later talks about how great and happy her life is. The same with her debilitating disabilities which come and go.

MereDintofPandiculation · 16/05/2023 12:05

She did useful work about 10 years ago publishing cheap recipes, and because of her popular following she was able to highlight how the cheapest foods have had increases way above inflation. That’s probably more good work than many of us have done

HatchetJob · 16/05/2023 12:25

I think that’s a low bar. I used to work in one of the poorest communities in the country, I think there are thousands doing more. They haven’t then used it as a platform to make money for themselves.
I have opinions on her recipes I might just keep to myself.

IClaudine · 16/05/2023 13:09

Ever since I spotted a glaring inconsistency in something she said, I have gone off her. I am not enjoying her downfall though. It is very sad and rather cringeworthy to see the likes of Daubney crowing over the debacle. Plus, her poor son.

She could have done so much good with her platform. Maybe her head was turned when she won against Hopkins?

potniatheron · 16/05/2023 13:56

I think she first came to prominence in the Cameron era (maybe around 2011?) which was also the era of cheap debt, vastly increasing middle class asset wealth and the common use of the perjorative 'chav' to describe the working classes. So I think she was useful as the modern 'acceptable' (ie well spoken and beautiful) face of poverty for use by peopoe who were not touched too much by poverty.

In the decade since, I'd like to think that our understanding of class and culture has evolved and also of course many more of the middle classes are seriously feeling the pinch, with foodbank use climbing higher up the social scale than ever before. So she no longer fits with the times. But back then I can see that she would have been a newspaper editor's dream - pretty, articulate and quite fun, to memory. I think she's changed quite a bit since and seems more erratic which is why I said that perhaps social media fame does not agree with her.

Itsdaftasabrushwithnohandle · 16/05/2023 14:05

She fascinates me in some strange way. With her MH issues , I am not sure she's 'playing the card' rather she does have MH issues but has good days when she's so proud of her achievements and loves her followers and lets them know, and embraces her intelligence and abilities, and then other days where she realises her criticisms and various fuck ups, or perhaps is struggling with something, and it comes up-she seems very unstable I shouldn't, but I feel a bit sorry for her although I do know she's brought it on herself. I agree with PP that fame just does not seem to suit her-she's not a stable enough character.

I went down a real rabbithole about her on tattle recently because obviously I have nothing better to do

I've been on those tattle threads too, the sheer of number of them put me off though plus it seems quite clique-y. I presume it's maybe people who know her or have followed her form the start but no way am I reading over 100 threads to figure out what's going on!

NowZeusHasLainWithLeda · 16/05/2023 14:12

Is her MH compulsive lying?

Loathsome woman.

Are we allowed to call her that this week? Hard to keep up.

funnelfan · 16/05/2023 14:14

YANBU to be pleased someone is being held to account for the money they have solicited from the public, many of whom were in poverty and/or vulnerable.

YABU to be so gleeful about the potential public unraveling of someone who clearly has mental health issues.

HatchetJob · 16/05/2023 17:12

And she is suggesting she is suicidal on Twitter again, which is what happens every time she is challenged. She’s not a good person.

Boomboom22 · 16/05/2023 17:53

Trouble is she's never actually been in poverty and she's a liar.

JulieHoney · 16/05/2023 18:12

She certainly seems a damaged individual. Nothing in this crazy vacillating tale of ups and downs makes any sense, there are contradictions everywhere. I don't think it's healthy of her to be online, and I feel for her son with all this madness going on.

TrustPenguins · 16/05/2023 18:19

Why would she lie?

squidgybits · 16/05/2023 18:25

TrustPenguins · 16/05/2023 18:19

Why would she lie?

she has admitted it

WhoWants2Know · 16/05/2023 18:25

TrustPenguins · 16/05/2023 18:19

Why would she lie?

For money and followers.

TrustPenguins · 16/05/2023 18:50

Geez, unbelievable.
I must be so naive!! 🙈

HatchetJob · 16/05/2023 19:38

i think it’s natural to believe how people present themselves. Also the idea that she is a poverty campaigner who experienced poverty has been told over and over in the media. Despite not really being true.
