So today someone has released a new video outlining the chef/campaigner Jack Monroe's many many lies AND it was announced today that one of her previous donors has been successful in getting her summoned to court to address an unpaid CCJ. As someone who has been irritated by her obvious lies for years I can't deny I'm so happy word is getting out!

The Many Li(v)es of Jack Monroe

@IClaudine The 3 I use regularly are the Sunshine Soup, the Cannelini with beurre blanc and the chickpea and peach curry. I was going to mention the red wine and mushroom risotto, but it's just that hers was the first red wine risotto I ever made, and like every other red wine risotto.

I will have a look, thanks for replying.

She's been on Twitter claiming that the empty seats at her public appearance last night was because of trolls block buying tickets then not turning up. Not because people didn't want to buy tickets. Deranged.

Even if she’s right that trolls were block buying tickets - and it does sound a bit bizarre - why should she care anyway? They’ve spent their money, so it makes no difference whether there 50 or 500 people actually in the auditorium, as long as the seats were sold.

SunflowerLovers · 20/05/2023 09:05

Look at the way trolls treat JK on Twitter. It wouldn’t surprise me if they did buy tickets.

watermeloncougar · 20/05/2023 09:08

Completely delusional. Kidding herself she's some sort of activist speaking truth to power and that empty seats are some sort of conspiracy against her.

No love, it's because not many people want to listen to a middle class woman faking poverty who lies and scams people in genuine need.

Nicknacky · 20/05/2023 09:08

It wasn’t that well publicised that she would be there, I doubt dozens/hundreds of people cared enough to buy tickets just to have empty seats.

Far more likely that people just didn’t want to spend £13.50 to hear that nobody talk 🤷🏻‍♀️

HatchetJob · 20/05/2023 10:30

Apparently there were plenty of seats available to buy yesterday still. I think she’s heard of it happening to Trump and make herself sound more popular than she is.

watermeloncougar · 20/05/2023 11:03

She's from a middle class family, grammar school educated, she had a job which was pretty damn well paid by about the age of 20. She then had a kid and pleaded poverty (despite their being plenty of evidence the kid's father was living with her and co parenting, and that her family would have had plenty of money and willingness to help too.) She played at being poor and thought she'd found a niche in the market for budget cooking (she didn't- there are real cooks around who provide plenty of resources for decent budget recipes)

The lies and vile behaviour towards others have escalated over the years, and she scams people out of money. Probably people who are genuinely struggling. Then she pleads ADHD/mental health/ non-binary status as if any of those are an excuse for being vile.

I'm glad more and more people are seeing the truth.

I really started to wonder about her when the Guardian published this article about her being a recovering alcoholic. Note the timescale between her getting sober and writing the article.

www.theguardian.com/society/2019/jan/05/jack-monroe-i-am-an-alcoholic-mea-culpa

That piece of writing in The Guardian is the biggest pile of self-indulgent, egotistical shite I've read by someone purporting to be sober.
I'm in alcoholic recovery and I've met thousands of people over my years of sobriety. 99% of them recognise that honesty is what keeps us sober.
That piece is offensive bollocks. She's a total grifter.

Yeah that is sickening

Whiskyinajar · 20/05/2023 12:56

She thinks it is Tattle trolling her. It isn't. Tattle have been calling her out since 2020. They generally just laugh about her though not bulk buy tickets to troll her

Ameanstreakamilewide · 20/05/2023 12:58

And she pretended that she had cancer, lest we forget.

Posted a picture of herself on Twitter, looking 'woe is me', asking for an oncologist to get in touch; while wearing a chemo head scarf.

This mysterious affliction seems to have just miraculously vanished overnight. That must have been one hell of an oncologist!

How anyone can still defend her after that, is beyond me.

This. Do better vitriolic posters. Not a good look.

Posters can decide for themselves who they are vitriolic about and why.

That is terrible. Omg.

Kennykenkencat · 20/05/2023 13:54

Is it odd that I have never met this woman and from the first time I saw a picture of her I got a really bad feeling

On paper she ticks everything that should interest me but I can’t actually look at her without my heckles rising and that was before anything negative had been written about her and when everyone thought she was amazing

Ohdearnamechange · 20/05/2023 14:00

I don't know. I think it's disgusting what she has done but it is clearly not coming from a place of sane, calculated manipulation - she's very obviously very mentally unwell. That's not to excuse her and I think she needs to (in her saner moments) make a conscious effort to apologise and take steps to make amends for some of the cuntier stuff she's done.

I guess I'm coming at this from a place of serious mental illness myself (I have borderline personality disorder, C-PTSD, OCD and am also waiting to be assessed for suspected autism/ADHD as well as having some substance abuse issues). I have, when in the midst of a very bad mental health episode, done some stuff that I'm not proud of - including making outlandish claims, losing jobs and offering stuff I can't follow through on like paying for an all-expenses paid family holiday for all my close relatives etc. The difference is that I'm not doing it in the public eye, my loved ones know and are understanding when I'm not well and I try to make things better when I'm out of the worst of it. I have also made a conscious decision not to have kids, partly because I wouldn't want to inflict myself on a child who has no choice in the matter (I feel bad enough about my endlessly patient husband and family!). But not all mental health issues present in the same way.

I don't think there's anything to enjoy about this tbh. I hope she can sort herself out and take a massive step back from the public eye, if only for her poor son's sake.

My point was that ‘being vitriolic’ is so bad for you. How do posters on Tattle or these threads feel after a good old sesh? 9/10 if you dislike someone you don’t know it’s displacement- they remind you of someone else or of something unresolved that happened to you or that you did. Whilst you’re sitting around the guillotine you’re not addressing that thing that could make you happier.

whynotwhatknot · 20/05/2023 14:37

I didnt know about the cancer lie-thats really low

i might start a patreon acco9unt seems to be easy to reel people in and do nothing

waterlego · 20/05/2023 15:48

@Ohdearnamechange, I’m sorry to read you’ve had so many struggles in life and I hope you’re currently well.

I have often thought Jack comes across as someone with BPD or bipolar. I don’t know very much about either condition except that both can be characterised by extreme mood changes and impulsive behaviour such as out of control spending. Whenever I’ve read about Jack’s impulse buys (multiple sideboards, designer dogs etc) it always makes me think of those disorders. Has JM ever claimed to have either of those? She has seemingly self-diagnosed with multiple conditions, illnesses and neurodiversities over the years so I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s got one of those too. Except this might be something she actually does have!

watermeloncougar · 20/05/2023 16:15

Lamelie

'not a good look' to speak out against these things?

  • lying repeatedly
-scamming people out of money -hurling vile abuse to anyone who disagrees with her -using funds given to her to buy booze and expensive furniture; then blocking anyone who has the temerity to ask where the money is -using disability/mental health/cancer as a 'get out' for vile behaviour

Ok then. Hmm

JohnPrescottsPyjamas · 20/05/2023 16:34

Genuinely curious, but every time a new thread starts on MN questioning funding and motives, it appears around the same time that the venom increases in JM’s Twitter account, and she’s immediately into attack mode.

Is it because she’s reading these comments and retaliating, or is it because the original poster has read hers first?

Ameanstreakamilewide · 20/05/2023 16:37

She always has plenty of opinions about Mumsnet. We're all hateful terfs, blah, blah, blah. 🙄

So, she probably is reading them, the silly mare.
