To wonder how a biological male has won a women's cycling race?

Seriously why are the sporting organisations so slow to stop biological men from entering the world of women's sport that they so predictably end up winning and stealing titles and opportunities from biological women.

The mind boggles in rage.

@QuintanaRoo @PSNonsense @Sugarfree23

I meant it difficult to know what to do to get the rules changed to biological womans only and biological men only.

Boycotting would be detrimental to the athletes who have dedicated their lives to competing.

Two options accepted that sport is based on sex not gender, revert to the sex based testing - women have tolerated it for decades after male cheats were seen as cheats tried to enter female competition.

Various 'athletes' dropped out when the 'nude parade' was introduced. It was later replaced with blood tests.

Or pander to the trans and allow an Open category - highly unlikely that any female will ever win against males - so really rebadge the male category.

At the minute it's very much in the pander stage . How are we going to get it to the based on sex stage ?

Two is quite sufficient Open and female.
Which is what i think swimming have said they are going to do with.

True

I agree women should not have to boycott so I guess it’s just campaigning. The woman who was in Lia Thomases team speaks out a lot. Plus a girl who suffered serious injury in a volleyball match. Plus Sharon Davies. Even Caitlin Jenner. I believe things have changed in swimming and athletics.

Male competitors need to come out in support of females, they need to speak up.
Sponsors need to speak up, refuse to support competition with males in female categories.
Governing bodies speak up.

The International Olympic Committee they speak up, maintain the standards. Males in female sport has been an issue since 1938, the nude parades and blood scared them off from the 1940s onwards.

It's insane.

But this is the world we now live in. It's transphobic to point out the clear unfairness of males winning women's prizes.

And in other news today a lesbian KC has been deplatformed from speaking at the Edinburgh fringe festival because women can no longer speak about issues that impact us freely without being told it's transphobic.

https://www.heraldscotland.com/politics/23492494.decision-cancel-joanna-cherry-fringe-show-plainly-unlawful/

And this happened because staff, including box office staff, refused to work on the event.

A small number of people, many of them young women, are setting the agenda on this.

The tail is wagging the dog.

Because its their name, a name and a pink leggings don't make someone female

L1ttledrummergirl · 02/05/2023 09:31

Two of my dc compete in a physical sport. Dd trains hard and competes at national level, ds1 hasn't trained properly in years (university). After lockdown when they would both have been in the same category, ds1 would have won a contest hands down, full on, dd could even be risking injury.

Men do not belong in women's sports.

MaryCrawford · 02/05/2023 09:32

I long for the day when a male tennis player enters Wimbledon and wins all around him because something as high profile as that might wake the general population up.

Or a male football player gets on the Man City Women's football team and causes carnage.

Something that everyone can see and most will say WTF.

bellinisurge · 02/05/2023 09:36

MN has tried to put threads on this subject onto a specific topic . Glad it's making its way back to AIBU because, seriously, WTF. This cyclist is a cheat. Lance Armstrong level cheat.

Cincinnatus · 02/05/2023 09:45

Maybe it’s time all the biological women refuse to take part if a transwoman is taking part? Is that possible?

I don't actually believe a word of it. The venue are being cowardly and have bowed to TRA pressure. As if the staff have such control over bosses.

Bring on the discrimination claim. Refusing a service on the basis of a protected characteristic is blatant discrimination.

Why should they? Women and girls train hard.

Time for men to stop cheating and to stop sporting bodies for being so misogynistic and enabling the cheats.

I think the issue for professional athletes is if they boycott they are going against their sponsorship deals so loose the money they need to live on and support their training.

They are stuck in a catch 22.

VegetablesFightingToReclaimTheAubergieneEmoji · 02/05/2023 09:52

I know someone personally affected by this. The way funding and sponsorship works meant their career was effectively stolen, you don’t get the same funding, training support, coverage and sponsorship for 3/4/5th.

unfortunately getting people whether it be male/female to get involved in something that does affect them is difficult.

They have sisters, wife's and daughters speak up for them.

The governing bodies need to speak out or simply they'll end up with two categories of male competitions. Men / pink t-shirts

There always seems be alot of support from biological woman whenever this debate happens . Which doesn't help, I'm really not sure what the answer is to change the rules.

Yellowdays · 02/05/2023 10:18

"Time for men to stop cheating and to stop sporting bodies for being so misogynistic and enabling the cheats."

Absolutely. I'm fine with trans but in sport its ridiculous.

bellabasset · 02/05/2023 10:18

If a female athlete took male hormones to improve her performance she'd be accused of cheating. What's the difference between that and a biological male competing in a female event?.It's an unfair playing field.

SleepyRich · 02/05/2023 10:31

It sounds like the organisations in favour of this madness seek out anyone involved who would publicly speak against the trend and hound them/their employers/sponsors. Unfortunately quite a clever targeted campaign to try and ruin their standing. No one wants to be labelled a bigot/similar, more so if you're already in the public eye reliant on sponsorship money for income, or your brands reputation to sell product unfortunately which is probably why many remain silent.

I work for a uniformed public service, there's one trans women who uses the women's changing room and toilets. It's quite obvious the women are extremely uncomfortable with this person having access to the changing rooms - people just want to change and go home but they end up stopping and waiting in the lounge area exchanging looks till it's clear. We all know what's going on but no one says it out loud. I doubt any of us will ever formally speak out about it because I very much suspect that our jobs would be at risk/labelled a bully or similar.

From when this transwomen started on the service they were excepted, as a colleague seemed like normal interactions/friendship groups at work, as in well involved/invited on nights out/sat with at meal times and had friends at work. Whilst ultimately I'm sure some thought it was a bit odd it's not our business how someone wants to present themselves as male or female, essentially they just wore a lot of makeup (counter to the uniform policy but again who's going to tell a transwomen to not wear bright makeup!!). However since they've started walking in on women getting changed, walking around from the shower naked (male bodied) the mood has massively shifted they're barely tolerated as a person, not involved and sat alone. I can't see this changing anytime soon. I expect the future will be that public buildings are going to have to stop shared shower/changing areas and just have a series of cubicles.
