To get the ick with a man I have loved since I was 16. I’m 49

I went out with a guy when I was 16 and he was 23. Loved him, like actually adored him.
I got divorced 3 years ago and looked him up on Facebook. He was also divorced so we got chatting. Everything was great and we got on like a house on fire. Been out for a few drinks, slept together, it’s amazing.
Tonight we went to Tesco. I was at the checkout and he wanted to go back for milk. I stood there and waited, and then heard this god awful squeaking noise. Literally the whole shop
turned round to him doing a toe jabby run, squeaking his trainers down the aisle. I was beside myself with embarrassment.
The attraction has literally disappeared after 30 years. I’m so sad :(

You could cure that.

Whatshisname , that actor who I think was in that 50 shades film, I saw him on graham Norton and he demonstrated how he had to be cured of walking on his toes.

I knew a job coach who did similar he walked like he was on springs on his tiptoes feet inwards and yet managed to drag his feet simultaneously? It was...odd he was actually quite good looking the men and people who hadn't seen it said they couldn't understand why he was single, women and colleagues winced they knew why 😂

The ick is the ick. It’s can’t be reasoned or controlled. Mine came when a guy I was with did a weird swallow. Like a bird.

I just practised doing this myself because I couldn’t quite imagine what it looked like, then looked up to see my husband giving me a weird look.

Have I just icked myself?

I once got the ick from a bloke I really fancied, it’s was his phone case 😂 one of this flippy ones that opens like a book. He had all his cards in it and for some reason that made it worse . .

Chances are you didn’t actually like him it you liked the image you had of him from years ago.

Is a jabby toe run similar to a Dad run? Peter Kay does a v good impression of a Dad run for anyone wondering. I feel like Jabby Toe Run (JTR?) is a definite offshoot of a Dad run. The ick is the ick. I wonder what trainers he was wearing and if he wears sports socks… nothing gives me the ick like reebok trainers & sports socks on a man older than 25. Eugh making me shudder at the thought!!!

A lovely bloke I used to work with gave me the ick for wearing a vest on a date lol x i really do regret that now lol. To be honest I would have laughed out loud at noisy trainers but I do have a strange sense of humour. Don’t bin him yet try and have a romantic night to usher the feeling a way.

I’ve just watched that and this makes more sense - I was imagining the toes jabbing down rather than up. Up makes more sense.

yeah I get the 16 thing is a bit creepy now, but it was all fine then.
I don’t know what to do. Like the pp with the moustache thing (I laughed at that) I am literally turned right off. He’s gone from being Bruce willis to mr bean. I can’t get the image out of my head and when he ran up to me I felt
nothing but shame that everyone who had rubber necked at the noise knew he was with me.

It really was not all fine then. It's was predatory and creepy, just more widely ignored.

I get this is meant to be lighthearted, but you're going to pretend to be asleep to avoid sex? You don't feel able to say no?

I once quite liked someone. Then I imagined him queuing up to buy the t-shirt he was wearing and after that I could barely look at him.
