Someone's taken credit for anonymous treat!

Quick silly one but not sure what to do.

Friend has had a hard time so I've sent them a cream tea type surprise treat. Left the card anonymous but she finds it difficult to receive without reciprocating and I wanted her to have something just for her with no strings, to cheer her up.

She posts it on social media, another Friend (I don't know) comments, saying enjoy, glad you like, you deserve it type thing

My friend says ahhhh was it you, youre amazing

Other friend says wink wink it's anonymous so I guess you'll never know

Now, to me there alluding it was then. Taking all the bloody credit. I know I didn't send it for credit or even thanks but I'm a little pissed off!

Sistine Chapel thread still available and if you haven't read it you're in for treat! It was the work of a troll but I don't care, its so damn funny!!

Back to cream teas, jam or cream first I don't care. I alternate, bloody delicious either way.

You did a lovely thing for your friend OP. I know you weren't looking for any credit but it sure seems CF was willing to take it!!

Going to organise a wee cream tea tomorrow, suddenly in the mood for one!

On that thread, the "Sistine Screamer" one, someone wrote about an inheritance classic thread that sounds like a fun read. Does anyone have a way to point me to that thread?

The Sistine screamer was a fake.It was from a book by Alexander Mccall Smith which was also a part work in a scottish newspaper.

My DH just treated me to a lovely afternoon tea where plain and fruit scones (of arc) were served, I carefully split the scones and tried one half (strawberry) jam first then cream on top and the other cream first topped with jam, in complete honesty I didn't notice a discernable difference. My second scone I decide to layer first jam, then cream then jam on top which seemed perfect 🤣

Just started reading it. It is hilarious. I bet it’s written by a pro like Alan Bennett or someone in that ilk.

I saw that when I was reading it. I had wondered what type of person would behave like that! I didn't know whether to laugh or cringe until I got far enough into the thread to read it was faked. I admit I was relieved.....😎😇😬😆

Thank you!! 👏 I am going to have a fun night reading. Now, if I only had a cream tea set to make it perfect. 😆😉
Can anyone help me find the "step inheritance" thread?

I didn't know that.

I love McCall Smith's writing. He's most well known for the Ladies Detective Agency, I think, but the Professor Doctor von Igelfeld books are even better - laugh-out-loud funny.

It was one of the 44 Scotland Street books
I haven't read any of the Von Iglefield books yet, must try them.

Artinsurance · 30/04/2023 23:59

I used to walk to school along Scotland Street. I will have to look those books up and see if he mentions places I remember.

I've just discovered that McCall Smith has also got a detective called Varg in another series. I haven't read these but intend to asap.

Last night I went on My Christmas work do and somehow cream teas became a discussion. A heated discussion. I thought to myself, I wonder what ever happened to that thread I started on Mumsnet. And so I searched it and here I am.... Not entirely sure why it went quiet but I DO have an update if anyone is still about and if anyone Is at all interested?
