Someone's taken credit for anonymous treat!

Quick silly one but not sure what to do.

Friend has had a hard time so I've sent them a cream tea type surprise treat. Left the card anonymous but she finds it difficult to receive without reciprocating and I wanted her to have something just for her with no strings, to cheer her up.

She posts it on social media, another Friend (I don't know) comments, saying enjoy, glad you like, you deserve it type thing

My friend says ahhhh was it you, youre amazing

Other friend says wink wink it's anonymous so I guess you'll never know

Now, to me there alluding it was then. Taking all the bloody credit. I know I didn't send it for credit or even thanks but I'm a little pissed off!

@Monstersinked I had affogato on Saturday lunch as well, first had it in Bologna and now can't have many desserts as Diabetic but that doesn't seem to spike my blood sugar too much. I had to make DH one a decaf for dinner as well.

Another vote for this thread to be added to the classics!

I actually really liked it. The cream made the day old scones less dry!! I have absolutely no idea which side I'm going to stick with.

Friend has not rang me or text me since 9ish this morning so I have nooooo idea how it went with cheeky cow.

I've sent her this to try and prompt a response . I realise it's the wrong scone (as in not rhyming with gone) but I hope it makes her remember us and the fact we need updates.

A little story....I had split from my bf and on my birthday 3months later I came home to find roses....chocolates....and baloons(filled with confetti)and a card say from an admirer...
As I thought it was from him I binned the lot!!! Much much much later....I found out my sister left it! 😢Always...always tell them who sent them!

I'd say keep it classy. Cheeky cow might have got it wrong/give her benefit of the doubt. Totally agree she's out of this world cheeky but I'd also say don't be too mean!! (I know I'm soft 🙈🙈)

Well @Monstersinked I followed through as promised: despite startling at bloody spooky government siren blast, I baked those 8 big old scones (skons) yesterday at 3pm, all but 1 have now been scoffed. Yesterday we made do with ropey old slightly off cream from the back of the fridge (waste not want not) and this morning, DH actually only went and bought a fresh pot of cream from Sainsy's to have with the remainder this afternoon! (**BUTTER THEN JAM THEN CREAM!!) Nom nom.

Who'd have thunk cheeky cow would have prompted such a nationwide bonding over mass cream tea consumption?! Job well done I'd say.

Tomorrow is the first chance I'll have to get my stuff for a cream tea!

side observation, does no one make their scones? Commercial prepared and packaged scones are shite.

I get mine from the bakery section. Hate the ones that are prepackaged. If I try and make them they’re never big enough.

I make my own. I'm always disappointed with bought, mass produced ones. They go really well with home made jam and (bought) clotted cream. Warm from the oven mmm

Just seen that Betty's afternoon cream teas for delivery have all sold out!

Absolutely unacceptable and YABVU. Don't you know that you should try all recipes out at least three times before you serve them to friends?

I hope that @AliceOlive and I (mostly me as I actually sent it) are getting free tea from Betty's!!!

@ThatFraggle Sorry for the late reply, been trying to procrastinate less and do some actual work but snuck back here out of curiosity after having one (two) of my shopping delivery scones!

The joke, as a few posters confirmed is usually What is the fastest cake in the world... Scone!" but in our house we say Why is a scone the fastest food in the world? Because one minute it's here, the next minute...scone!

It's the law to say it every single time. Especially when you spot an empty plate. I don't make the rules* I just follow them👀
