To be so angry with ‘DH’

Maisemoo · 14/04/2023 19:14

I was bought a pair of trainers for my birthday by my DM- they were expensive at £180 in comparison to my normal converse so use them when I know not muddy etc.
Cleaning hall and found them covered in paint and mud- DH saw them and hadn’t seen me in them for a few weeks (baring in mind he works away 4 nights a week so doesn’t see me everyday) so decided to use them for work- he works in a building site!
they are completely ruined and stink of sweaty man feet and I am really upset as they are not just something I can replace due to cost. DH thinks I am being dramatic and has whacked them in the washing machine- but I hate trainers in the washing machine as they never feel the same and right now am so angry I want to throw them in the bin or at at his face

He needs to replace them like for like

How big are your feet/how small are his?!

Misses point of thread

readbooksdrinktea · 14/04/2023 19:18

He needs to replace them with the exact same kind. Obviously. What an ass.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 14/04/2023 19:18

You say ‘man feet’ so you’re obviously a M/F couple. How did he fit his feet into your shoes?

Also, put him in the bin along with the shoes. Neither are fit for purpose.

Not missing the point at all I couldn't get past the fact he could wear the Ops shoes his feet must be very small!

Ktime · 14/04/2023 19:19

He needs to replace them.

If he refuses, divorce the dick.

GoodChat · 14/04/2023 19:20

Yeah he's replacing them - even if it means working overtime for a few weeks.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 14/04/2023 19:20

So it seems to be quite surprising to some people on this thread that women and men can have the same size feet.

My SIL and my dad are both size 8s.

Anyways OP, he owes you new shoes. It's a simple idea but if he refuses I'd be really concerned with how he viewed me

Maisemoo · 14/04/2023 19:21

I am a six 6 and he is a 7 so has stretched them all to fit - but yes he does have small feet and a small brain 🤨

pointythings · 14/04/2023 19:22

He needs to buy you brand new replacements. Nothing else is acceptable. You don't just wear someone else's things and fuck them up just because 'you haven't seen them wear it'. You are fully entitled to have the rage.

RedHelenB · 14/04/2023 19:22

Wait and see how they are after a wash.

Well of course they can but I would imagine it was statistically very unlikely for a married couple where one was a man and the other a women to have exactly the same sized feet.

Obviously he should replace them but it's not an odd thing to comment on given how unusual it must be.

SmirnoffIceIsNice · 14/04/2023 19:23

How mad that he thought new/good condition trainers, that weren't even his, would be suitable to wear to work on a building site. At the very least he should have asked if he could wear them.

I'd definitely be insisting he replace them like for like.

As an aside, don't people working on building sites have to wear safety footwear?

Mutabiliss · 14/04/2023 19:24

MuffinToSeeHere · 14/04/2023 19:19

Not that this is relevant, but I have size 7 feet and my partner has size 8 so he can squeeze into my shoes. He's only a couple of inches taller than me at 5" 8 so not that surprising his feet are a similar size.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 14/04/2023 19:24

He absolutely needs to buy you new replacements. He's a fucking idiot OP Flowers

And if he says they're too much money you can tell him to stop being 'dramatic'.

FlounderingFruitcake · 14/04/2023 19:24

Surely they can both be size 8s? That’s a pretty typical crossover size! I doubt DH’s feet are a size 4 or that OP’s are an 11.

But he needs to replace them. Then he can use the washing machine ones for work since he likes them so much. Whilst you enjoy your nice new pristine ones.

Topseyt123 · 14/04/2023 19:25

He needs to replace them. Like for like, and pronto.

BringtheJury · 14/04/2023 19:26

He must have been in agony, squishing his feet into trainers a whole size too small!

mumarooni · 14/04/2023 19:26

Sorry going to go against the grain, he owes u an apology for sure but new shoes?! That seems mad to me. So wasteful. It's not fair you don't get them as new, but I from my perspective new shoes is overkill. But then I have a £35 pair of trsiners and have had the same ones for years and years so I appreciate I'm not normal.

MuffinToSeeHere · 14/04/2023 19:26

Maisemoo · 14/04/2023 19:21

So not only did he take your new shoes but he also chose to take a pair of shoes that were too small for him. He doesn't have much respect for you does he.

StaceySolomonSwash · 14/04/2023 19:27

Doubt he'd be wearing trainers on a building site.

"OSHA standards require puncture-resistant and slip-resistant footwear for construction workers. Safety boots on construction sites also need considerable impact and shear protection to shield workers from falling objects or heavy equipment. Steel-toed boots are best-suited to meet all OSHA safety boot requirements."

So based on that and a little bit of common sense, thread is bullshit.

TiedUpWithABlackVelvetBand · 14/04/2023 19:27

He needs to replace them. And if that means going without a few things and saving up to be able to buy them, so be it.

But I just have a cold, hard certainty that you have no intention whatsoever of insisting he do this, so ….. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anna713 · 14/04/2023 19:27

Me and my husband both have size 6 feet. He is 5ft 8" so not very tall but not unusually so. Your husband needs to replace them and buy you a big bunch of flowers by way of an apology

PeloMom · 14/04/2023 19:27

He needs to replace them and get you an apology candy or flowers too. Why did he put them on? Doesn’t he have his own shoes??? If he refuses, at the next gift giving occasion (his bday, etc) instead of buying him a gift, buy yourself the shoes!
