To be so angry with ‘DH’

Maisemoo · 14/04/2023 19:14

I was bought a pair of trainers for my birthday by my DM- they were expensive at £180 in comparison to my normal converse so use them when I know not muddy etc.
Cleaning hall and found them covered in paint and mud- DH saw them and hadn’t seen me in them for a few weeks (baring in mind he works away 4 nights a week so doesn’t see me everyday) so decided to use them for work- he works in a building site!
they are completely ruined and stink of sweaty man feet and I am really upset as they are not just something I can replace due to cost. DH thinks I am being dramatic and has whacked them in the washing machine- but I hate trainers in the washing machine as they never feel the same and right now am so angry I want to throw them in the bin or at at his face

What a horrible post.

What’s revolting is your catty attitude.

Can you imagine if it was a man saying ‘the thought of a woman with size 9 feet is revolting’

Melonmango70 · 14/04/2023 19:44

I feel your pain! My husband once used a CD of mine to unblock the toilet (I wasn't home) - I found half a broom handle that he'd whittled to a point so that he could fit the CD on and then use it as a plunger. I was absolutely bloody livid. His response was that I was being ridiculous, no apology from him, just "I didn't realise it was your CD." "Did you know it wasn't YOUR CD?" "Yes." "Then who else could it have belonged to? There are only two of us living here!" It sounds petty now, (it was about 20 years ago), but it was the sheer thoughtlessness that got me, and the complete lack of any understanding that I was upset. And the lack of remorse and/or an apology! And I never got a replacement, now I think of it!

TiedUpWithABlackVelvetBand · 14/04/2023 19:44

Men say stuff far, far worse than that about women all the time.

Mustardandchickensandwiches · 14/04/2023 19:28

I cannot get over that you've slept with a man with size 7 feet.

Is he 4ft5?

For some reason I find the thought of a man with small feet revolting.

This is just unnecessary rudeness...

Yep, or if he commented that she was flat chested.

Completely nasty.

But why upset OP because her husband is an idiot?

BCBird · 14/04/2023 19:46

He should be replacing them.

Craftycorvid · 14/04/2023 19:48

It doesn’t matter whether they were new or old, he took your things, mis-used them and neither cleaned nor replaced them. He absolutely should replace, and minimising is very uncool. I’d be tempted to take a favourite item of his and ‘forget’ he was using it. 😡

mumarooni · 14/04/2023 19:26

Sorry going to go against the grain, he owes u an apology for sure but new shoes?! That seems mad to me. So wasteful. It's not fair you don't get them as new, but I from my perspective new shoes is overkill. But then I have a £35 pair of trsiners and have had the same ones for years and years so I appreciate I'm not normal.

He's the one who was wasteful....putting on a pair of someone elses new shoes, stretching them out, getting them covered in paint and then throwing them in the washing machine.

OP hasn't been wasteful at all.

amiold · 14/04/2023 19:51

Glad my partner can't squeeze his size 13 flippers into my size 6 trainers

For everyone saying small feet are unattractive ... are big feet any better? They're all awful. Mine too 😂

He should replace them op

My comment was in response to @Kingdedede saying ‘can you imagine if it was a man saying ‘the thought of a woman with size 9 feet is revolting’ - men say this, and far worse, all the time.

The comment was from a random MNer on the internet about a man she’ll never meet and never know. She wasn’t saying it about a partner or loved one, which yes, would be unkind.

The question was, ‘can you imagine if a man said X?’ Well, yes, I can imagine a man saying it. Easily.

suburbophobe · 14/04/2023 19:52

Also, put him in the bin along with the shoes. Neither are fit for purpose.

LOL @TheLightSideOfTheMoon.

MN is always over the top though...

He needs to replace them. If he refuses, divorce the dick. @Ktime

Sorry OP, that's a dick thing to do by him. I would be upset too. Like he doesn't give a shit about your stuff, just his own convenience.

how the hell did he fit into a pair of your shoes?!

It’s not just a random man though, it’s OP’s DH.

Criticising his appearance rather than his actions is just nasty.

Jubaju · 14/04/2023 19:54

Oh this would give me the ick.
🤮

pinkyredrose · 14/04/2023 19:54

Wtf is wrong with him! Has he always been thoughtless?

I’m sure he’ll cope.

Brefugee · 14/04/2023 19:55

I'm vindictive and petty so I'd be getting rid of his favourite 3 pairs of shoes. And then I'd be packing either his or my bags because this kind of disrespect for personal possessions is unacceptable.

(FWIW: DH and i are the same height and have the same size shoes - 41. I have been known to wear his docs on occasion)

denim1700 · 14/04/2023 19:57

The man has trotters, should have been chucked yonks ago.

WakeMeUpInspring · 14/04/2023 19:58

Wow. He's sp selfish. Who does that?!

DeedlessIndeed · 14/04/2023 19:58

All these posts mocking someone for height are a bit grim... and that is as a taller than average woman!

Autumntree · 14/04/2023 19:58

I'd be furious, not only because of the shoes but also for how incredibly immature and stupid he is!
He must replace them.

pollykitty · 14/04/2023 19:58

Wtf. YANBU. I would be absolutely fing furious if my husband did this. But he knows better than to touch anything, and I do mean anything, in my wardrobe. It goes both ways, many years ago I wore one of his tshirts without thinking and he was (rightly so) furious as my boobs stretched the front. I felt so bad! Never again!

LakieLady · 14/04/2023 19:58

MuffinToSeeHere · 14/04/2023 19:23

Well of course they can but I would imagine it was statistically very unlikely for a married couple where one was a man and the other a women to have exactly the same sized feet.

Obviously he should replace them but it's not an odd thing to comment on given how unusual it must be.

I once had a boyfriend with the same size feet as me (7).

He had a very nice pair of Kickers, and I think I wore them more than he did.

Anyway, OP, your DH is not only an idiot but disrespectful as well. He needs to replace them.

Stravaig · 14/04/2023 20:01

No one squashes themselves into their partner's super expensive extra special gift trainers and wears them to work on a building site by accident! That's a deliberate act of spite and anger and aggression.

Either he is horrified by what he has done, he grovels apologies, he rushes out to buy you the exact same pair or better ones of your choice - or he's gone.

Ktime · 14/04/2023 20:01

TiedUpWithABlackVelvetBand · 14/04/2023 19:54

I’m sure he’ll cope.

And yet you’d be the first to report any mean comments made to you.
