To be so angry with ‘DH’

Maisemoo · 14/04/2023 19:14

I was bought a pair of trainers for my birthday by my DM- they were expensive at £180 in comparison to my normal converse so use them when I know not muddy etc.
Cleaning hall and found them covered in paint and mud- DH saw them and hadn’t seen me in them for a few weeks (baring in mind he works away 4 nights a week so doesn’t see me everyday) so decided to use them for work- he works in a building site!
they are completely ruined and stink of sweaty man feet and I am really upset as they are not just something I can replace due to cost. DH thinks I am being dramatic and has whacked them in the washing machine- but I hate trainers in the washing machine as they never feel the same and right now am so angry I want to throw them in the bin or at at his face

All these posts mocking someone for height are a bit grim... and that is as a taller than average woman!

It’s not his height it’s his tiny feet.

I am a six 6 and he is a 7 so has stretched them all to fit - but yes he does have small feet and a small brain 🤨

I'm sitting on my hands here not to make the obvious response, although I don't think you'd mind if I did.

Yes, he needs to buy you another pair, same again. He might not have meant to ruin them but he did.

ShowUs · 14/04/2023 20:05

I would be absolutely fuming!

He should have at least asked first even if he didn’t realise the price or thought they were ones you don’t wear anymore.

I would go as far as saying he wore them knowing how much they cost/you like them.

He definitely needs to get a replacement.

TiedUpWithABlackVelvetBand · 14/04/2023 20:05

OP - I really hope this isn’t just a sad venting thread, and that you’re actually going to follow through.

I mean, why wouldn’t you? Are you wary of upsetting the inconsiderate, selfish fucker?

Almostlegible · 14/04/2023 20:07

We don’t know your DM’s financial situation but gift worth £180 is quite a lot, so she possibly splashed out on something she knew you’d really like.
Would he be happy to explain to her that he thinks her gift to you is nothing special?

MysteryBelle · 14/04/2023 20:07

He ruined your new shoes, a birthday gift from your mother. Of all the shoes to wear to ruin at a job site, he picked the very expensive recent birthday gift given to his wife. I can’t get over that. Not sure anybody could be so dumb. Had to be on purpose. I’m sorry, op, he is an absolute idiot. With tiny feet. We can say that because he is ethically deficient. Ick.

Minimalme · 14/04/2023 20:07

I would have to wonder if he was having a passive aggressive pop at me. Sorry op Sad

Surely he has a pair or work boots which are more comfortable than a pair of women's high end trainers a size too small?

My dh regularly gets it in the ear because he puts his muddy boots on top of my white trainers. If he wore them I'd know he actually hated me.

Why on earth did he do that!
He needs to replace them

raincamepouringdown · 14/04/2023 20:09

Of course he should replace them. And apologise. He's trashed your expensive belongings, which were a lovely gift from your mother.

He's being an ass.

Ooh, careful there, @MysteryBelle - you’re going to hurt his poor little feelings.

TheMatriarchy · 14/04/2023 20:09

He took an expensive gift from your mother and ruined it, even though it must have caused him discomfort to do so. This is not an accidental action or mistake or oversight. Its a deliberate act of aggression. I would be looking at escape routes, you might not get off so easy next time.

I cannot get over that you've slept with a man with size 7 feet.

Is he 4ft5?

For some reason I find the thought of a man with small feet revolting.

What a vile comment!

Does it matter if he’s 4ft5?

Fucking hell.
He’s got feet a couple of sizes smaller than average and you think it’s revolting?!

Feet size and height are 2 things that you cannot change.
Body shaming someone for something they can’t control is the lowest of the low.

My friend got bullied horrendously because she’s 6ft and has size 9 feet. I suppose you also think she’s revolting?

You’d lose your mind if you ever saw a dwarf.

Maisemoo · 14/04/2023 20:11

I have ordered a new pair on his card- means he can’t go to his hobby this weekend as gets paid next week he didn’t dare moan or comment as I point out he could then finish the odd jobs in the house now

Partyatno10 · 14/04/2023 20:12

If he didn't replace, revenge it is. I'd take something pricey of his that he loves and use it all up/ruin it/pretend I'd lost it. See how he likes those apples. I'm petty af though

NotAnotherBathBomb · 14/04/2023 20:12

Yeah obvs replace the shoes.

I am a woman with size 10 feet, we exist.

MrsClatterbuck · 14/04/2023 20:12

I would take a favourite or expensive tee shirt or other garment and use it to clean the kitchen and bathroom floor if he refuses to replace them. Petty but I can be like that if sufficiently riled.

Glad you've ordered a new pair.

All those who think men with small feet are revolting and the comments about what size is his pee pee are gross. What would you say if a man said the same - big feet = big fanny? How big is her fanny if her feet are size whatever?

Agree, how can it not be on purpose? He stuffed his feet, granted only one size down in a lady’s shoe, into your expensive birthday gift and ruined them on a construction site.

Only a PSYCHO would do this.

Proceed accordingly.

SupplyIsLimited · 14/04/2023 20:14

I'd be furious. He owes you new shoes, even if he has to save up for a while. Still not completely satisfactory if you share money, of course. Ideally, he should delay or skip something he'd buy himself to pay for the new shoes.

I'd also tell him that he's no longer allowed to wear your shoes. It doesn't matter if you haven't worn them in years. They're yours! Hands (and stinky man-feet) off!!

It’s ok if he’s a malicious psycho. As is the case here.

Men DO say that, I’m sure.

But when women give men a taste of their own objectifying medicine, suddenly it’s unacceptably shocking.

Exactly. If some of the women on this thread were told they have big fannies they’d be reporting the shit out of the report button.
