To be so angry with ‘DH’

I was bought a pair of trainers for my birthday by my DM- they were expensive at £180 in comparison to my normal converse so use them when I know not muddy etc.
Cleaning hall and found them covered in paint and mud- DH saw them and hadn’t seen me in them for a few weeks (baring in mind he works away 4 nights a week so doesn’t see me everyday) so decided to use them for work- he works in a building site!
they are completely ruined and stink of sweaty man feet and I am really upset as they are not just something I can replace due to cost. DH thinks I am being dramatic and has whacked them in the washing machine- but I hate trainers in the washing machine as they never feel the same and right now am so angry I want to throw them in the bin or at at his face

After how mad I went I genuinely don’t think he will be brave enough to touch my stuff again!
have ordered a takeaway on his card- poster suggested this earlier and sounded a good idea and am writing him a list of jobs for the weekend as he can’t go to his hobby now due to lack of funds 🤣

Excellent!

bellswithwhistles · 14/04/2023 20:39

I'm calling BS. No bloke on a building site goes in 'designer' trainers. They'd get laughed out of the cabin.

Maisemoo · 14/04/2023 20:42

As I pointed out I was being lazy writing building site - he was in a clients home this week finishing/ snagging last bits for the company he works for which is why wasn’t in proper shoes

I'm a size 5
And my husband has size 11 feet.

He couldn't get a couple of toes in.

Thank god

MuffinToSeeHere · 14/04/2023 19:19

Not missing the point at all I couldn't get past the fact he could wear the Ops shoes his feet must be very small!

Not necessarily my feet are a size 9 and my husband is a size 10 so we could share shoes if the need arose 🤣

Ludlow2 · 14/04/2023 20:44

Could you not wear his shoes and accidentally step in dog shit.

ClaraBourne · 14/04/2023 20:45

He trashed an expensive gift from your mum. He needs to replace them. Washing trainers weakens the glue and they will never be the same.

Find smething he loves, a gift, a treasure, anything and ask how he would feel.

AffIt · 14/04/2023 20:46

My feet are slightly bigger than average for my height (5'9") and I take a size 8/9. My OH is 6' are wears a size 9 or 10, so yes, occasionally there is a bit of crossover, particularly in trainers.

But as a PP rightly pointed out, this is Mumsnet, where all men are strapping 6'4" rugby players with size 12 feet (who can inhale three loaves of bread and half a side of salmon at one sitting) from the age of 14 and anything less is disgustingly effete.

Sorry, OP, I'm getting off track. Yes, your partner should replace your shoes without question.

CordyLines · 14/04/2023 20:48

Good for you.

Only comment I have is did you buy Nikes? If you did I am not impressed. Look up Dylan Mulvaney and Nike. That's the only thing I'd object to.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 14/04/2023 20:49

Some of the comments on this thread are amongst the most unpleasant I've read on here in quite a while.

Grow up, folks, your comments make you sound deeply unpleasant and immature.

@OP your DH is an inconsiderate tit but hopefully he'll think twice before shoving his feet into any of your shoes.

AffIt · 14/04/2023 20:50

Aha - I've just read your update, OP! Good job. 😀

Coyoacan · 14/04/2023 20:38

I cannot get over that you've slept with a man with size 7 feet

Well never go out with a Mexican, size 7 is quite a normal size for men's footwear and no, they don't have particularly small penises

There is something inadvertently hilarious about this post.

Why ‘Mexican’, of all (on the small side) nationalities? Grin

And I don’t think someone who’s not keen on men with small feet even needs to be told to avoid smaller men.

GoodChat · 14/04/2023 20:51

@TiedUpWithABlackVelvetBand presumably she has experience with Mexican men, considering she can comment on their foot and penis size.

TiedUpWithABlackVelvetBand · 14/04/2023 20:51

Well, yes, presumably. Still funny, though.

ShimmeringShirts · 14/04/2023 20:53

I don’t know one self respecting man that would try and wear women’s trainers a size too small for him. Does he not give you the ick like that?

Mamamess · 14/04/2023 20:53

bang out of order. What a random thing to do though? Like surely he has work boots/shoes?? I’m a bit on the paranoid side but would he have done it on purpose? Seems just so disrespectful? I have a pair of old slipon’s to nip in and out of the house in, my dh sometimes just sticks them on to do the bins ect he’s 4 sizes bigger than me. It baffles me why he uses them, I find it pretty annoying, but to wear a clearly sparkly clean pair of sneaks to work? What? Replace without question. If my mum had bought me an expensive pressy that dh wrecked I’d be pretty upset.

Good.

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 14/04/2023 20:55

I’d be fucking furious OP and I’m glad you’ve ordered yourself a new pair. Luckily my DH is as precious about his trainers as I am so if we were the same size he wouldn’t dream of doing this.

Our 13 year old recently had another foot growth spurt and we realised on a PE day that his trainers were too small, this made him the same foot size as his dad-I did the only proper thing and rang DH and discussed with him which pair of his trainers DS could borrow for pe…wouldn’t have dreamt of just taking a pair without discussing it first.

The clue is in Coyoacan’s username. It’s a place in Mexico Hmm

impz · 14/04/2023 20:56

Who buys £180 trainers? 🙄

And I agree with some, the thought of a little guy with his dainty feet sharing my shoes...

mouche202 · 14/04/2023 20:57

I too am surprised at how surprised people are at husband and wife having the same size feet. My husband and I both have the same size feet, and being the same height, can - and occasionally do - wear each other's jeans and T shirts!

Why would that be a ‘risk’? Racist much.
