Dalai llama ask a child to suck his tongue

Has anyone seen the new video of the Dalai Llama asking a child to suck his tongue. Yes. It sounds bizarre. But it is in the news right now. The video is out there. And the dalai llama is apologising on social media now

Im devastated! I went to see the Dalai Llama in India. He gave a speech on accepting and loving everyone, and that it didn't matter what religion we are. I always told people that it was one of the highlights of my life.

I went through life thinking he was a good person, that he was one of the good ones. To see this today, makes me think oh no is he yet another abuser.

Some people have remarked about this video that sticking your tongue out at someone is a greeting in Tibet.

However - the Dalai Llama kisses the child on the lips in the video, and asks the child to suck his tongue. It does not look right at all.

He has apologised on twitter now.

What do you all think?

Gandhi used to sleep with naked young women to test his power of abstinence.
Another creepy pedo imo.

Not young women. Girls. Young girls. Children. People seem quick to turn a blind eye to him too

He wasn't caught on camera (because the technology wasn't there) but even if it had been the case, I can see that he would also have had his apologists. It is proof that these cults aren't really about seeking truth but more about establishing and maintaining control. I was raised in a cult (not on a farm in the middle of nowhere kind of cult but a more urban set up where some people attended a little and some attended every waking hour). It is still going strong and I thought I saw something going on when I was the same age as this boy which never looked right. Perhaps they are literally untouchable.

Yeah I agree with you. I shouldn't hero worship anyone or think anyone is better than anyone else.

But we are taught to view religious leaders as better than anyone else. There is a hierarchy in religions. The pope is seen as the best person in the catholic church. The Dalai llama is seen as the best person in his religion.

This is definitely a lesson to me that religious leaders are not better than anyone else in any way shape or form

I think I just feel like a total idiot. Because i really thought he was a great person and that what he taught was kindness and compassion. And that he was someone to look up to.

And I think also it is because I grew up in rural Ireland where there is a lot of corrupt and horrible priests in the catholic church.

I really wanted to believe that there was some other religion out there with truly kind people, that taught kindness and compassion. That is why I ended up gravitating towards the Dalai llama and his teachings

Lesson learned.

As I see now, every religion is open to corruption. Every human is capable of cruelty. The idea of religious leaders is not a good one.

There have been many bad Pope's and many Catholics aren't keen on some of them. They don't have to follow a bad Pope.

What do posters who say that the poor, kind Dali Lama has dementia and doesn't mean it think about the people around the DL enabling him to abuse his unique position of power and make sexually suggestive comments to children? He isn't acting like this inappropriately in a vacuum. Who even comes up with this sort of phrase?

Lapland123 · 10/04/2023 17:17

I’m still wondering if he my comment was deleted when I didn’t say anything different to the sensible majority on this thread. Care to shed any light on this, mumsnet?

Fucking sick of this shit. Every time a man abuses a kid or batters his wife or cheats on her or any other shit thing there's a little chorus of women saying "oh no, maybe he's got a brain tumour/is depressed/didn't mean it/was just joking/needs a doctor/is having a midlife crisis

No, he's just an abusive prick. Stop defending them.

Thankyou.. Also fucking sick to death of this complete bullshit!!

KalimbaMoon · 10/04/2023 17:19

People need to stop making excuses for the DL. It’s inexcusable, no matter the wider context, it’s absolutely NOT okay.

Boussa · 10/04/2023 17:20

or so open minded that child abuse is normalised

I feel sick, what the hell is wrong with people. That poor child has just had all of his trust broken. And I suppose that there will be some excuse. Ugh

RealMcKoy · 10/04/2023 17:29

Unfortunately, on this site with a surfeit of tertiary educated women, there has been a thread that asked if one would report their rapist son with the overwhelming majority saying "no". Another pretend dense educated woman couldn't comprehend how anybody could disown a relative if they were found to be a paedophile. Her need to believe that Paedophiles ( who are pretty much cardinal in character and cannot stop being paedophiles) can change came above the fact that many people do have to disown any family member if they are a paedophile, just for the fact that certain agencies will not let them navigate life without consequence if they themselves have children. As her job, this woman worked with paedophiles and subconsciously has ended up working FOR them, too, so much have they manipulated her.

Do not underestimate the narcissism of too many educated liberal women when it comes to ignoring the bad behaviour of men, especially if said men tick "minority" boxes..thus low key showing how they really feel about minority women and children and poorer white women and children.

A wise woman told me that for too many women, their sense of feminism goes out of the window when they either have a son or a man. The women begin to extrapolate every bad man with the men that they know and as they presume the men that they know are good people, that bad man must also be good.

It's a fucked up psychology. However, most of us have seen it hundreds of times.

Mooshamoo · 10/04/2023 13:50

The catholic church teaches that everyone is equal under God? Are you serious. I nearly laughed

No it doesn't. It might have said that somewhere at one point, but the catholic church definitely does not practice that. I grew up in Ireland.

The Catholic church definitely taught that women were worth less than men. There is millions of incidences of the catholic church telling people that women were worth less than men and of them treating women as less than dirt.

Just one example. I work in customer service. A man rang in to me last week to all about his bill.

He started talking about his life and he told me when he was young, he remembered women being raped in Ireland, and then after these women were raped they were seen as being In shame. These women were then imprisoned by the catholic church into institutions called Magdalene laundries and were kept as slaves by the catholic church for their entire lives. Working with no pay. There is a lot of coldness and cruelty in the catholic church.

The catholic church has a long long history of abuse towards women and children. You know that.

You know who hates women in the Catholic Church, Satan, he rebelled because a woman was to birth Jesus, it was also revealed to him that a woman (Mary) would destroy him, those were the people doing harm.

As you see in the secular world with those wanting to corrupt children in libraries, there see men who will do and wear anything to access children and harm women in their single sex spaces.

It's the same men throughout history, enabled by the same people, whatever the country, political party, BBC, NHS, religions or no religion, they influtrate institutions and corrupt.

Invadersmustdie · 10/04/2023 17:34

You can see from some of the responses on this thread why it's relatively common for women to hand over their children to men for their sexual gratification. The excusing and minimising is fucking disgusting. Talk about turning a blind eye.

I was just about to write something similar with regards to Islam. We're not allowed to idolise/ worship/ bow down to other human beings.

Yes but people still do it though. Many religious people do assume religious/spiritual leaders, or more so thre ‘holy people’ in their communities are morally superior even if it’s not written in teachings for them to believe so. Which is why they go to them for advice or ‘follow’ them as they assume they have more wisdom and sense. Safeguarding becomes lax around these people as they’re seen as safe people because of their outward piety/good PR in the communities/in the media but once the person has been caught/ or caught on camera there aren’t any excuses but people seem to be making plenty excuses for this guy.

CordyLines · 10/04/2023 17:47

These are organisations that have had sex abuse allegations proven against them so far -

Organised Church (members)
Religious organisations all faiths
Police
Swimming
Scouting Associations
Schools
TV presenters (JS e.g.)
Trafficking
Parents/family members

I'm half afraid to go on. What are the common denominators?

Over40Overdating · 10/04/2023 17:50

@ImaniMumsnet you’d like peace and love on a thread where some women are working a full time job to excuse the sexually abusive actions of an elderly man towards a young boy?

I’m out.

The boy is the same culture as the holy DL and was clearly uncomfortable. The whole exchange was forceful and none of the sidekick monks sitting around them intervened to help the boy, nor did anyone in the audience. Poor poor boy.

In my extended family it was normal and expected to kiss relatives on the lips. Even still I absolutely hated it. I remember squirming every time I had to say goodbye to my nanna who had dementia, her lips coming towards me for a slobbery kiss. Leaving aside the tongue part for a moment, is kissing children on the lips considered abusive now? Genuine question Confused

Every time Beckham posts a picture of him kissing his daughter on the lips there are plenty online making comments.
