To ask how long your deep clean takes ?

I have a small 2 bedroom flat and I deep clean probably about once a month, if that. It takes me about 4 hours. How big is your house and how long does a deep clean take ??

Has any man ever worried about a ‘deep clean’?

My husband cleans more and better than I do by far. My brother did as well and was infinitely more organized.

Deep cleaning? The last time I did that when we were just about to put our house on the market, 20 years ago!
How long did it take me to do? About 6 weeks.

I think it's for people who have tidy houses. I'd need a couple of weeks off work before I could do a deep clean.

Nah. I am really not super tidy. Hemce why it requires lroper scrub once or twice a year. It's nlt forty, but just gets bit disorganised so things needs to go to better place, bits need cleaning because "out of sight out of mind" and so on. It's great for kitchen cupboards tbh because there is always something forgotten in a back

We did what I would call a full clean on Friday. 4 bed 2.5 bath, 3 reception. Not massive.

To us a full clean is, full dust ceiling lines, skirtings, blinds, light fittings, etc. including moving everything to get around and behind, full bathroom cleans (everything movable out and back in after), full wipe down of cupboard fronts/sides to kitchen and utility with anything sitting to surfaces moved and wiped/cleaned, etc inside of windows, frames and handles wiped. Hoover and wash floors, change beds. I got all washing done too thanks to the weather being so lovely. This took me and my husband 5/6 hours a piece.

I did clean the oven too over the extended weekend, but I throw in Oven Pride, walk away for the day and just wipe out and shove the shelves and attachments in the dishwasher once they’ve been in the solution) and the other white goods on the Sunday, but I see these as easy jobs as I just shove cleaner through them in the main and then wipe down so these probably take an hour total.

In the summer I will also have a bit of a day where I wash curtains and clean out the inside of window/door frames and another where I do the insides of cupboards. I like to get this done at least once a year. So a ‘spring’ clean I guess without it being Spring!

We both work FT/more than full time most of the time so we have to take our opportunities where we find them…. The rest of the time I will roughly do a room every other evening when I get home to
keep on top of things and hubby (he works til 9pm most days of the week) will vacuum twice a week.

Life with cats and allergies…. 🤣

I also have a 2 bed apartment and it takes me one whole day (sometimes even two days ie. the whole weekend). I do it every second weekend. I clean the fridge, freezer, oven, mop all floors, dust, clean all surfaces shelves etc, wash all toys, change all bedding etc). My child is extremely messy though.

I used to be like this, everything was pristine and clutter free, I'm not sure when I decided, fuck it, life's too short and I can't be arsed anymore.

Depends on what you mean by deep clean?

Deep clean to me is emptying cupboards/draws, sorting though all the shit container there in, then cleaning the space and reorganising when putting back contents.

I have a 5 bed house so it would take...about 2 months?

If you mean just cleaning inside of fridge/going over skirting boards etc etc, then about once every 2 weeks. Doesn't take too long as I do it so regularly so it probably only adds an extra 15-30 minutes per room, depending on the room.

Deep clean to me is wipe skirting boards, new bedsheets, clean out fridge, mop floors, wipe down all surfaces, hoover etc. Certainly not any dusting or anything like that.

I wouldn't call that a deep clean. Apart from the skirting boards I'd say that was normal cleaning.

I think cleaning under furniture, dusting the top of the door frames, emptying and cleaning cupboards is a deep clean.

I never do all of that in one go.

I am only doing this until she is a teenager! (Which means another 5-6 years, sob) Hoping she will help out later on.

When I had a partner we had a cleaner but I can’t afford it any longer so I do it while she is with her dad, every second weekend.

TheOrigRights · 11/04/2023 20:21

The problem I have is that it's only when I starts say removing cobwebs I realise how much I could do. So I don't Grin

Start with teaching and helping her to clear up after herself NOW. Teens not generally known to suddenly start doing housework!

Stop making a rod for your own back.

I realised over covid that time was not the barrier to me doing a deep clean Grin

Ha ha! I'm like that with cooking. I always told myself it was because I was too busy, but nah....I have time to cook now, but choose to spend my down time doing anything other than that!

Cluelessat33 · 12/04/2023 21:00

3 hours every Monday, 4 hours every Friday? That's a full working day a week!? I mean who had a spare working day in their week! and that's presumably on top of ordinary day to day washing up, washing, kitchen cleaning, tidying etc

I'm off camping and wild swimming this weekend. The house will still be there when I get back, those days will be gone.
