To ask how long your deep clean takes ?

I have a small 2 bedroom flat and I deep clean probably about once a month, if that. It takes me about 4 hours. How big is your house and how long does a deep clean take ??

It depends on what you call a deep clean in the kitchen. Without doing inside cupboards I can deep clean my downstairs rooms and stairs, not including my larder in a day (9am-6pm). So probably two and a half days for the whole house.

LostAtTheCrossRoad · 06/04/2023 23:35

Deep clean?!

Deep clean?!

Exactly 🤣

SlipSlidinAway · 06/04/2023 23:36

My what?

Xmasbaby11 · 06/04/2023 23:37

I’ve never done it all in one go tbh, I guess 2 or 3 days? Large 4 bed house, 2 bathrooms, 2 reception rooms. Takes a full day to do the kitchen and utility room and that’s not even a vg job of it!. I do it every few months.

Imperialleathers · 06/04/2023 23:37

Deep clean to me is wipe skirting boards, new bedsheets, clean out fridge, mop floors, wipe down all surfaces, hoover etc. Certainly not any dusting or anything like that.

Years I suspect. Many years

Imperialleathers · 06/04/2023 23:41

I suspected I'm not thorough enough 😂

SallyWD · 06/04/2023 23:42

I never do it in a day. I do it over a couple of weeks and just do 30 mins a day or something until it's all done. I never have a whole day free just to clean.

Imperialleathers · 06/04/2023 23:43

Those of you who do it over a few days, don't you feel as you clean when the days go by it gets messy again already !

Once every two weeks
Takes me a full day but that's because I have a 3 and 1 year old destroying everything I tidy and end up doing it twice
Deep clean for me includes dusting, bedsheets, full bathroom clean, organising drawers and wardrobes, fridge, kitchen cupboards and floors
I love cleaning day

On a normal day I make the beds, mop the kitchen floor and hoover the living room every evening before bed

Inca22 · 06/04/2023 23:53

That is not a deep clean! We do that at least every week. There's three of us and takes us a couple of hours over the weekend as we split the chores.

JaceLancs · 06/04/2023 23:58

A deep clean would take me days!!
a weekly ish clean here covers dusting, vacuuming, bathrooms - toilets - kitchen cleaning
the things I don’t do often are things like cleaning cupboards, skirting boards, light fittings, spare room, under beds etc

This! I’ve got a 3 bed with a conservatory, and I do a 2-3 hour clean on a Monday and a 4 hour clean on a Friday, and that’s just a couple of bi weekly BASIC cleans. I could spend 4 hours on one room on a proper deep clean, I wonder what the op thinks that means 😂

goodkidsmaadhouse · 06/04/2023 23:59

I suspect it would take so long that by the time I'd finished, the house would be ready for another one.

Sorry, but I am going to reference your post @JaceLancs as this is exactly what I do. Life is too short to be faffing around with skirting boards, cupboards, light fittings etc.

Binfluencer · 07/04/2023 00:02

LOLS never done one

@ariaknox

BUT HOW DO YOU HAVE THE TIME?

Binfluencer · 07/04/2023 00:04

Seriously where do you all find all these hours for cleaning?

Merryoldgoat · 07/04/2023 00:04

Nope.

Netcam · 07/04/2023 00:04

I thought we might do it one day when we retire

Oakyloaky · 07/04/2023 00:06

Have never heard about deep clean before mumsnet. Do people actually have that much time to allocate a few hours a week just to clean? I generally hoover a couple of times a week, dust occasionally, get mop out every few weeks and about once a year clean cupboards, fridge etc unless an obvious spillage! Change bedclothes every couple of weeks and teenagers when they are getting smelly.

ariaknox · 07/04/2023 00:07

@Binfluencer
I'm self employed (own a business)
So on a normal day I work from early morning into all hours of the night
A lot of the time my children are at work with me
So I always make sure I have a full day off to sort my house out and allow my children a lazy day So they play while I do my jobs
My cleaning day is always takeaway night so no washing up or cooking
I do other things like food shop or errands during the week in between work

JaneJeffer · 07/04/2023 00:09

My whole life.
