'Queen' Camilla

1000 replies

Replitad · 04/04/2023 23:12

I wouldn't have called myself a republican before now but I think the 'Queen' Camilla thing has tipped me over the edge.

Pretty audacious considering their history and I think a lot of the public won't agree. I certainly won't be celebrating or even watching coronation.

What church and service was Fergie going to each Christmas and Easter? Couldn't Andrew keep her company?

Brefugee · 11/04/2023 10:36

it's all a bit baffling (like the "it should skip a generation, i don't like Charles" stuff) because: if you have a monarchy this is what you get.
If you get a monarchy in a backward society that still hands down titles based on male primorgeniture (not the crown any more) and patriarchy, you get a Queen if you have a King who inherits the crown, and no King when you have a Queen who inherits the crown.

You don't get to vote on it - that is the monarchy, you have to suck it up or come to the republican dark-side and agitate for a president like they have in Germany with no executive power. My choices are Doreen Lawrence or Tanni Grey Thompson.

She probably didn't go at all and Andrew was expected to go to church with the Queen, now with the King, Anne, Edward and all their children.

When they married, Charles promised Camilla would be princess consort . Not ever queen - despite the frothing from the bootlickers on here - he said she would not be queen

Not quite, Novella
As with so many of these things, "spokespeople" - ie: the spinners - gave out various statements, but AFAIK Charles never commented himself.
The closest he got to that was when some kid asked if Camilla was going to be queen and he stuttered something like "Umm ... well ... that could be ... umm", which some may consider an unfortunate state of affairs when speaking of the next monarch's consort

Oh well if Denise Welch, paragon of virtue and perfectness doesn’t like her then that’s it settled isn’t it 🤣

Rhondaa · 11/04/2023 11:25

'Oh well if Denise Welch, paragon of virtue and perfectness doesn’t like her then that’s it settled isn’t it '

She is horrendous isn't she . You'd think with her own well documented problems with relationships, mh, booze etc might have made her a bit more tolerant but nope, she's always gobbing off sticking the boot in.

I'm a monarchist but not a royalist. Personally I can't stand either of them.

Chucky is a buffoon who likes talking to his plants and Cammy's a lazy entitled frump.
Cammy apparently has form for 'stealing' other people's men. She got involved with Andrew PB when he was dating Princess Anne in the 80's. Then she took up with Chucky when he was married to Di.

Still, we can't change it and will have to learn to live with them - a bit like having warts.

Anne was married to Mark Phillips in the 80's so APB was certainly NOT her boyfriend!

APB married Camilla in 1973. They divorced 1995.

So Camilla has had 2 relationships.

As for being a "frump" - do you always rate people solely on their appearance?

As for referring to Charles and Camilla as "Chucky" and "Cammy" - emarrassingly peurile.

I suspect you are a pre pubescent and ought to be doing some homework.

No @Puzzledandpissedoff -not some 'kid' ( where do you get these ideas?)
If you find the bbc link I posted below it is all set out

Charles blustered when the bbc asked him re Camilla and queen and they referenced the intention that she be princess . He didn't correct them

AFlockOfTigers · 11/04/2023 11:42

Camilla dated APB in the late 60s, they broke up, he dated Princess Anne fairly casually in the early 70s and then got back together with Camilla. Anne and APB remained friends so it seems unlikely that she saw him as being "stolen".

CarolinaInTheMorning · 11/04/2023 11:43

What difference does using a different title (and she was always going to be Queen legally, regardless of what title she used) make to anyone?

I think this is a point that a lot of people on this thread are completely ignorant of. There is no legal basis for the wife of a King in the UK not to have the title of Queen. She could have been called a lesser title like Princess Consort, but she would still be Queen, just as she was in fact Princess of Wales but used a lesser title of Duchess of Cornwall. Intentions have changed and she uses the higher title now.

Oh a Christian family are they?

I assumed you were young based on your posts - you must be new to this

Have a google :
Charles and Saville
Charles and Peter Ball
Andrew and Epstein
Mountbatten and FBu file/ Belfast court case current

LBFseBrom · 11/04/2023 11:46

To whoever said Camilla has had two men: Andrew Parker Bowles was Princess Anne's sort of boyfriend in the 1970s before Mark Phillips. She had a fling with him at the same time Camilla was having a fling with Prince Charles as he was then. Charles really fell for Camilla but she was in love with Andrew.

Anne remained friends with the Parker-Bowles couple. She went on to marry Mark Phillips and had children but had an affair with her detective and later on with Tim Lawrence who has now been her husband for many years. Mark also had affairs.

Camilla and Andrew had been on and off since she was 17, they both had liaisons with others but there was undeniably a strong connection between them because they always went back to each other and, as we know, eventually married. After a few years she took up with Prince Charles again as his mistress which continued after he married Diana. During this time Andrew PB also had affairs.

I often think had Charles and Camilla married in their twenties she would have become APB's long term mistress.

It's nice they all remain good friends :-).

CarolinaInTheMorning · 11/04/2023 11:48

Anne and APB were always going to be a non-starter because he is Roman Catholic. At the time, she would have lost her place in the line of succession if she had married him.

Yes, didn’t she leave Lesley from Benidorm and jump into a relationship with a much younger man straight away?

Oh bless, you’re labouring under the misapprehension that all Christians are good and virtuous. You’re obviously new to the concept of Christianity. It seems that actually some of them fit the true Christian bill

C&C were 22/23 when they met

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/04/2023 12:26

Ah - apologies, Novella; I thought a child asked Charles during a school visit (google suggests it was actually Camilla) but wasn't aware that the BBC had posed the question too
I still maintain though that it's a pretty shabby situation if the question needs to be raised. If we've got to have these people at all - and personally I'd rather not - I'd hope for better standards than that

Oh and BTW you missed Laurens van der Post off that list of paedophile pals Wink

LBFseBrom · 11/04/2023 12:31

@DappledThings
Oh it was only Charles' intention that Camilla be princess ! Well that explains it .

Just as when Andrw had every 'intention'of helping the FBI

And when Charles said he'd have a slimmed down coronation ! £100 000 000 + later here we are...
Got it
When talking about the royals
Intention =lie

Intention certainly doesn't = promise, does it? People change their intentions all the time. Last year I intended to go on holiday in April this year, in fact I'm going in May. Does that mean I was lying last year?

LBFseBrom · 11/04/2023 12:40

Again ObstinateHeadstrong, referring to your post in which you mention people with whom the royals have had an association, who turned out to be unsavoury, have you never liked or admired someone who was eventually revealed to be quite dreadful? I have and it was quite a shock, difficult to believe at first, I've also known others who have had the same experience.

The ones you mention had many 'friends' in high places, not just royals. However none of them had real friends, they couldn't have managed that.

Those sort of people beguile others with wit, charm, even eccentricity. They are extremely plausible and manipulative.

They make our adulterous, bed hopping royals and aristocrats look saintly by comparison.

Rosula · 11/04/2023 12:44

Novella4 · 11/04/2023 09:02

It matters

No, it doesn't matter in the least. The simple fact is that she is Queen, and it makes no sense to call her Princess. It's obvious that in 2010 they intended for her to be Princess because that was what it took to appease the Saint Diana faction, and because. P eople didn't really know Camilla that well. 13 years later, they do, and she is accepted and indeed liked. It's perfectly sensible to make the assessment that there is no reason to depart from precedent and that they should comply with QEII's wishes.
