I wouldn't have called myself a republican before now but I think the 'Queen' Camilla thing has tipped me over the edge.

Pretty audacious considering their history and I think a lot of the public won't agree. I certainly won't be celebrating or even watching coronation.

Camilla always had the title PoW but didn't use it. Norfolk Live's journalism has an interesting mix of supposition.. but am not seeing the "promise" you mention @Novella4

Camilla basically did the reverse of what William and Catherine do atm.

She had the POW title but used the Cornwall one.

They are Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, but use the POW one (as it’s more senior).

Purely for public opinion at that the time.

And? Maybe he did always intend for her to be Queen and the Princess thing was chucked in to stave off having to announce that. Maybe he genuinely did accept she wouldn't be Queen and did intend for the Princess title to stick. Maybe he changed his mind 2 minutes or 10 years after that announcement.

Why does anyone care? It makes no difference to her position at his side, it makes no difference to the long-dead Diana.

And I'm glad Camilla will be on the throne and have blood diamonds plonked on her head and her head anointed with holy oil and the whole shebang !

Because my instinct months ago was that that the image of Camilla crowned ( and Charles to some extent) will prompt much more negative feeling than postive

What difference does using a different title (and she was always going to be Queen legally, regardless of what title she used) make to anyone?

I agree it was Camilla's and probably Charles' plan all along that she be queen .

He to be fair , Charles had Andrew front and central at the Easter Sunday pap walk so no wonder the 'royals' believe they can do what they want

They never promised anything at all. They never said ‘she will never be Queen’. 17 years ago they planned for her to be Princess Consort. But times have changed and the RF must change with those times. This ‘they promised’ like whining children is pathetic and embarrassing.

Like William I's coronation, when his soldiers outside thought there was a fight starting in the Abbey and set fire to the place.

I'm a monarchist but not a royalist. Personally I can't stand either of them.

Chucky is a buffoon who likes talking to his plants and Cammy's a lazy entitled frump.
Cammy apparently has form for 'stealing' other people's men. She got involved with Andrew PB when he was dating Princess Anne in the 80's. Then she took up with Chucky when he was married to Di.

Still, we can't change it and will have to learn to live with them - a bit like having warts.

Yes I think the reality of immorality might kick in at that point. A sense that something not quite right about it or just a disatisfying distasteful niggle.

Yes there may be total weirdos who think Camilla should spend her life wearing a ‘sorry Diana’ t-shirt but in the real world normal people have moved on regarding a stranger’s marriage almost 3 decades later.
