'Queen' Camilla

Replitad · 04/04/2023 23:12

I wouldn't have called myself a republican before now but I think the 'Queen' Camilla thing has tipped me over the edge.

Pretty audacious considering their history and I think a lot of the public won't agree. I certainly won't be celebrating or even watching coronation.

I don't think Camilla and Charles are happy at all, he seems full of melancholy and self pity.

I gather they hardly see each other that the marriage contact is similar to the affair level of contact and that he kicks furniture with anger. We saw a flash of this with the pens.

how can you say he is full of self pity?
does he confide in you?

Charles, Harry and William are all full of self pity, it seeps out of them. I doubt any of them are easy to live with. No wonder Camilla is a date wife and spends most of her life away from her husband.

Sorry @ThanksForYourHelp I quoted the wrong post. I have reported

As the saying goes you can put a cat in the oven but that don’t make it a biscuit!
I’m a republican but these two make it so easy - he’s a petulant, spoilt man baby adulterer and she’s been trapped by her adulterous actions into a very depressing marriage.
For everyone one who says oh poor them, they’re allowed happiness etc absolute bollocks. They inflicted a lot of pain and difficulty on all those around them and are an affront to the previous Queen who actually brought honour, dignity and hard work to a role that I personally disagree with having but can acknowledge she did very well. These two will just drag it into the gutter where they reside.

Crumpetdisappointment · 05/04/2023 11:48

living separately?
well jolly good for them?
they both have commitments and engagement and are 75 years old

HappinesDependsOnYou · 05/04/2023 11:52

@SimplyAverage I suspect Harry's mother dying when he was a child, being forced to parade to satisfy the sick public who demanded a show from their sovereign when she was trying to protect them and give them space and tours of Afghanistan had something to do with the state of his mental health. Yes his dad and Camilla had an affair so did Diana but she doesn't get branded for destroying her sons mental health.

Society is set up for monogamy. It is a man made concept. We come from apes who are not monogomas. Affairs destroy families yes. I am the betrayed partner of an affair and I can still say that 20+ years later the public need to stop acting like Diana is some sort if victim and Camilla is a demon. They are human and humans have faults. Relationships and marriages break down. The housing situation in this country shouldn't be in a place where a solo parent needs support from benefits. That is a Government issue not a Royal Family issue and pretty irrelevant to their affair as Camilla, Diana and Charles do not receive benefits. I don't agree with the Royal Family as it is based on a belief I do not hold but I also do not expect them to be more them human because of those beliefs. Prince Andrew is a potential sex offender yet gets less hatred then Camilla and Meghan. Harry and William have both said they embrace Camilla. Harry's demoms are deeper then an affair.

The amount of armchair psychology going on in this thread regarding people we know nothing about and in my case couldn't care less about is unbelievable.

Just shows how easy it is to manipulate those vulnerable enough to believe the spin.

mollyminniemo · 05/04/2023 11:57

I'm the daughter of a father who cheated constantly and knew this as a very young girl. Believe me: the damage both of them inflicted on such young children (and their partners!) can't even be explained if you've not felt it yourself. To be so aware of a parent being unfaithful, having such a seedy, murky, adult world thrown at you and being exposed to you when you don't want any part of it- as still a very innocent child forces you to loose so much of your childhood and innocence its despicable. To have a pair of people with such loose morals as our "king" and "queen" is disgusting to me and so many.

Rockingcloggs · 05/04/2023 11:57

She's Queen Camilla to me. I really like her and I'm pleased for them both. I really couldn't care less about the 'history' surrounding them.

I honestly believe the people still whittling on about Diana need to get a grip. She wasn't your friend, you didn't know her and she's been dead almost 26 years. Give it a rest.

IcedPurple · 05/04/2023 11:58

He was made to step down as king of Spain. because of his mistresses, his bad behaviour and corruption.

Juan Carlos' mistresses had nothing to do with his being made to step down. That was because of a massively corrupt deal with a Middle Eastern state. He had had numerous affairs going back decades, supposedly also trying it on with Diana. All of this was very well known in Spain, but he remained king until the corruption scandal.

The king of Sweden is also known for his numerous affairs, and is still king. Being faithful to one's spouse is not a requirement for Heads of State. If it was, things would look very different. Besides, there's no reason to believe Charles has been unfaithful to the woman he's been married to for 17 years, is there?

I suspect those defensive of affairs have their reasons to do so. Maybe they are fragile souls who have to maintain relationships with cheats because they don't think they deserve people with decent morals.

I am sorry you suffered, so many who had cheating parents told me over the years the harms and I saw over my lifetime how cheats at work etc behaved. I think Harry is a knob, I can also understand why.

I am not impressed that as a taxpayer these types of people rip us all off like they do their families as we all pay socially and financially for their selfishness.

They want us to move on and shut up as they dont want anyone to look at the impact amd see them for what they are.

Agreed. Affairs are very very commonplace in aristocratic circles. Especially once the heirs have been born. As long as you are discreet and it doesn’t become a scandal.

PussBilledDuckyPlait · 05/04/2023 12:15

There are plenty of reasons to object to the existence of the monarchy but Camilla being known as 'Queen' isn't one of them.

Crumpetdisappointment · 05/04/2023 12:17

I support her

Leopardprintisaneutral · 05/04/2023 12:26

I like Camilla, couldn't stand the other one. It doesn't affect me in any way what title the King's wife uses, but constitutionally, Queen would be correct. There are more important things to worry about, this is a press smokescreen to distract from the corrupt shitshow our Tory overlords are making of running things

user1498572889 · 05/04/2023 12:29

They have dropped the consort bit to reward her for her loyalty. Shame neither of them showed any loyalty to their previous spouses and their children. The Monarchy should have stopped with the queen.

Nope. They have stopped using it in some circumstances as is the practice with all wives of kings. It's not a reward for anything, it's just standard practice.

SuzieBishop · 05/04/2023 12:37

Queen Camilla Queen Camilla Queen Camilla - just getting you used to it OP.
She is married to the King so she's Queen - just like many before her. And also no, its not against Elizabeth's wishes - she stated she wanted Camilla to be known as Queen.

Well there's a saying I've never come across before

Where is that used?

massivenamechnage · 04/04/2023 23:15

No it isnt- not on the invites- the consort is dumped

And a blue dress- who else wore an iconic blue outfit (for their engagement with a matching ring)

Oh, for God's sake. The cult of St. Diana the Wronged has shown up. She's dead, and has been for a generation. Get over it.
