'Queen' Camilla

I wouldn't have called myself a republican before now but I think the 'Queen' Camilla thing has tipped me over the edge.

Pretty audacious considering their history and I think a lot of the public won't agree. I certainly won't be celebrating or even watching coronation.

I cannot understand why anyone should giv a shiny shit that Camilla is called Queen and not Queen Consort.

Johnson moved the OW into 10 Downing Street and brought her to state events while still married. Now that I did think was a bit previous, but I seem to have been alone, nobody else was saying "maybe wait for the divorce to go through?".

That man and his woke woman are prime examples of why you shouldn't have anything to do with cheats.

They should have just let him marry her in the beginning and all this could have been avoided. I'm glad she is just Queen now Queen Consort just sounded silly and as much as we all love out elderly parents we don't have to carry on appeasing them after they have passed away.

This.

That word unhinged is being said a lot here about Diana. That is so sad.

As I said, numerous sources have said that In order to rehabilitate Charles image, Charles friends started a media campaign. The main aim of the campaign was to make Diana look mentally unwell, unhinged, paranoid and unstable.

It is because of this media campaign by charles friends, that you now see Diana described as unhinged

Almost the first thing you see people say about Diana on here is that she was paranoid, unstable, unhinged mentally unwell.

That image of her was fed to you by Charles's friends. They sure did a thorough job in shattering her image.

No, the reason she is called unstable and unhinged is because she was unstable and unhinged. Fred’s mates had nothing to do with it. We aren’t blind, nor do we have short memories.

The very definition of being gaslit - the BRF and the Establishment did their work 'brilliantly' once could surmise, broke and totally destroyed her to protect the line of inheritance.

Lol I’m not being gaslit, she was unstable, unhinged and melodramatic the way her Dumbo son and his dopey wife are now.

Ive listened to her tapes - talking about how she threw herself down the stairs so she could get Charles’s attention. She said that / that’s not a stable healthy human

Why do you care so much? Confused I don't think the Royals will be losing any sleep over you being snippy and butthurt, and throwing your toys out of your pram, and refusing to watch the coronation.

LordEmsworth · 05/04/2023 10:08

"Queen" literally means "consort of the king". And QE2 announced that her wish was for Camilla to be known as Queen in the year before her death. I'm not a supporter of the monarchy but this is an argument about nothing... If you think the monarchy should be abolished then it's irrelevant what titles are used.

Changeau · 05/04/2023 10:08

I thought Diana was absolutely awful at the time.

WOW. Did you mean to be so RUDE?!

Charles also filmed a documentary around this time , where he admitted adultery.

Have you forgotten that one? He did the exact same action as Diana.

Is he unhinged aswell so?

It was an interview.

Where he alluded to the fact he had an affair when his marriage irreparably broke down. A rather questionable thing to do but at least he was honest. Diana never admitted her many well documented affairs.

He didn’t behave in the way that she did, not even close. Read into her blaming William when she made harassing phone calls to Camilla. And how the poor boy at age 11 had to slide notes under the door when she was having a breakdown on the other side to check she was OK because she wasn’t responding to him. HER words.

I thought Diana was absolutely awful at the time.

Lots of us did as did the press - many of us were perplexed at the media’s sudden change of heart to ‘St Diana the People’s Princess’ attitude when she died. They fucking hated her for a good decade. People forget.

Diana did admit to her affair with James Hewitt, in her TV interview.

Ah fair enough, I don’t recall that bit bit it’s been ages since I watched it! She left out the many others however.

Mooshamoo · 05/04/2023 10:15

Diana was a teenager when she married. She married a man who was having a relationship with another woman. She had to cope with this in front of the world.

At a very young age..

How would any of us coped! No wonder she had anxiety

Diana did admit to her affair with James Hewitt, in her TV interview.

I don't condone that at all.

She was very young, the brain doesn't stop developing until 25, she was caught up in the gaslighting of the best PR in the UK from 19.

Yes they did, particularly when she was shagging Dodi.

fleurpots · 05/04/2023 10:17

Whether people are royalists are not is irrelevant. It’s her title, it’s been this way for centuries. She had been entitled to use it since the queen’s death, I suppose she hasn’t so far as a mark of respect.

Mooshamoo · 05/04/2023 10:18

Poor diana

SimplyAverage · 05/04/2023 10:20

I also think Fergie suffered the same type of mental abuse as Diana from psychopaths in PR and being around Andrew.

Diana and Fergie were friends before either married. Fergie was older when shd married and should have been wiser to it all. Fergie can't have given her teen friend, then a young mum - very good support and advice.

Laiste · 05/04/2023 10:22

The 'rehabilitation' of Camilla's, and to an extent Charles's image after Diana's death is well a documented and real thing. The palace machine went into action playing the long game in prep for her marrying him and her becoming queen. They had work to do. They've done it quite well.

Personally, 25 years has gone in the blink of an eye. I've got kids older than that. We're not talking a hundred years ago here, it's easily recalled living memory.

Some of us who clearly remember the whole messed up situation of Diana, Charles and Camilla, which ever 'side' we happen to have been on at the time, find it hard to see the pair of them gurning away, and being anybody's King or Queen. And 'wishing them well because they're SO in love and finally together' - hmm. They don't actually live together.

She was perfectly happy to be the affair partner back in the day. They're just self interested rich toffs.

No frothing. I just don't wish them anything at all, won't be watching the coronation and look forward to the day that the monarchy is abolished.
