'Queen' Camilla

Replitad · 04/04/2023 23:12

I wouldn't have called myself a republican before now but I think the 'Queen' Camilla thing has tipped me over the edge.

Pretty audacious considering their history and I think a lot of the public won't agree. I certainly won't be celebrating or even watching coronation.

She's not my Queen and never will be.

I could accept Queen Consort but not this. It's the second marriage as a result of an affair. It makes a mockery of the institution of the monarchy, and certainly Charles being head of the C of E.

The public have been played for fools ('oh they'll complain at first but they'll accept it eventually').

Hoping for a short reign and W&C to take over as soon as possible.

William 😂 I take it you're unfamiliar with the prince of pegging?

Mooshamoo · 05/04/2023 01:26

You say they don't need to be voted in. They represent the UK currently at many levels.

So should that one singular family continue to be there forever and ever, no matter what?

What if in the future, one of the princes is a rapist or a murderer? Should his actions not matter. Should they never be held accountable?

Should one single family continue to be in that position forever no matter what? It's just so fucking ridiculous.

Well that’s kind of the point of a birthright. Representing a country doesn’t mean there needs to be a democratic vote on which family is Royal. Once again: they have no ruling power. We vote in rulers, not PR dollies.

Im sure they will run out of steam one day.

Vanderlayinfustries · 05/04/2023 01:31

The former wife dying is irrelevant here. He divorced her before he died. The divorce is the reason the Queen did not attend. Charles was not a widow. He was a divorce. You seem to penalise others for conflating issues but live to do it yourself. Didn't you.go to bed ages ago? Or was that a flounce?

Once again you have no idea how the Cofe church works (or rather worked then). You couldn’t marry in a CofE church at one point if you had a former living spouse. So Diana’s death had everything to do with it - not that they had a CofE wedding anyway, but I’m explaining why the Queen didn’t attend.

Vanderlayinfustries · 05/04/2023 01:35

In a democracy people are allowed to question the Hallowed Titles. Just because you're a suck up doesn't mean the rest of us have to be

WTF is a Hallowed Title 😂

People can question what they like in a democracy but they don’t have a right to vote everyone and everything in. We didn’t even vote in our last 2 PMs FFS

CuriouslyDifferent · 05/04/2023 08:15

I’m a royalist.

But she’s not a Queen, she’s not my Queen, never will be.

I won’t be watching.

Maybe I was a royalist, but if we became a replica tmrw, I’d not care now.

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 05/04/2023 08:16

Mooshamoo · 05/04/2023 02:02

It does stick in my throat a bit that Camilla is queen.

It feels like she played a very long game. And there was a huge campaign to promote her and get people to accept her.

Remember when she was absolutely hated.

The campaign to get the public to accept and like her worked. Apparantly the media campaign fed positive stories about her to the press. So we would begin to accept he and like her

We are all so manipulated.

Why’s do you have a problem with promotion for popularity? Did you expect her to go ‘Meh I’ll still be hated and have people call me camel face, I deserve it’? Why do you want someone to be hated so much?

Mooshamoo · 05/04/2023 02:05

Did anyone listen to the audio tape where diana talks about Diana confronting Camilla?

Diana said something to camilla like " I know what you two are doing. Dont play me for a fool".

And camilla was angry and said "what are you angry about Diana. You've got everything. You've got two sons. And the world loves you. What more could you want".

And Diana said " I want my husband".

Well if deluded drama llama Diana (who herself had plenty of extramarital affairs) claimed it it must be true.

OP seemed to ask should she be queen not could she. So is it right she is queen not is it within the rules she is queen.

It is interesting how many so aggressively answered the question in the wrong way.

Not having a go. It genuinely is interesting.

In this country so many always cite what you could get away with rather than what you should get away with.

Well it's allowed so ...

Just an observation generally not on this topic

You are the one who claimed the Queen (the late one) didn’t want her to be Queen

Also no one is wrong - Queen Consort is normally titled as Queen X. The Queen Mother (formally Queen Elizabeth) and Queen Mary were Consorts.

You also hilariously claimed Camilla had a child with Charles that was born before they even met. My advice: stop reading the National enquirer

dinkytoon · 05/04/2023 08:20

It's a nonsense and an affront to decency, but then that's the joke of a country we have become.

BignBootiful · 05/04/2023 08:22

Do you remember at some state affair when Charles had to stand in for the queen who was ill? Everybody else seemed down in the dumps - presumably worried about the queen - except for Camilla who was beaming from ear to ear. She played the long game and won; and there is no glamorous granny Diana around to steal her thunder. Wow. And to think my mum drummed it into me that thieves never prosper.

darjeelingrose · 05/04/2023 08:24

Replitad · 04/04/2023 23:34

Exactly! I forget how royalist everyone in here is. They can do no wrong it seems.

You come across as slightly deranged. Everybody is so royalist, what are you on about? People just don't care. You are whipping yourself up into a frenzy but most people, mumsnet and elsewhere don't care in the slightest.

Theluggage15 · 05/04/2023 08:25

The pearl clutching on here is hilarious. She is the queen no matter what some nutters think. And time to get over Di snuffing it, try and move on!

Camilla didn't steal anything, FFS. Ridiculous approach to take.

vera99 · 05/04/2023 08:28

Any mistresses watching on in here, the usual Mumsnet rules don't apply where you know you are the filth off the shoe breaking up marriages bringing in chaos you are literally the Queen anointed by the Archbishop of Canterbury no less. Not in my name. Not ever.

Affront to decency? The woman who has been married to the King for 18 years becoming Queen?

It's not as if there aren't precedents for divorcés remarrying and staying on the throne within the Royal Family.

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 05/04/2023 08:28

BlueThursday · 05/04/2023 07:43

Not quite on topic but should Charles pass before her would she then be known as dowager queen? As obviously she’s not the mother of the new monarch

If going by the rules of consorts before her she’d remain HRH Queen Camilla I think. But there’d also be Queen Catherine of England…etc.

As a PP pointed out at one point we had 3 queens! Queen Mary, the Queen Mother (titled so because her DD was Elizabeth too and it would be confusing) and Queen Elizabeth II.

Crumpetdisappointment · 05/04/2023 08:29

and i cant believe that a poster actually complained that she is wearing blue, because diana wore blue
crazy opinions
and william, why would you want him to be king, he doesnt want that YET, poor George is so young

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 05/04/2023 08:30

Puzzledandpissedoff · 05/04/2023 07:59

They should have just let him marry her in the beginning and all this could have been avoided

Could it though? What's to say, given his massive entitlement, that Charles wouldn't have just had another mistress?

She didn’t wanna marry him she wanted to marry Andrew PB.

QuizzlyBear · 05/04/2023 08:30

Get rid of the lot of them! In this day and age it's a joke to say that one family are intrinsically 'better' by virtue of their birth. It just perpetuates this horribly damaging class structure in this country - giving them people to look down on and giving us people to doff our caps to.

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 05/04/2023 08:30

Lunde · 05/04/2023 08:02

I though they agreed to the marriage because Charles threatened to take his case to the European Court of Human Rights claiming his right to a family life was being restricted.

Source?

Somehow I don't think the King and Queen are devastated that what they do isn't in vera99's name.

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 05/04/2023 08:33

Blort · 05/04/2023 08:03

Agree with this.

They said when they got married she wouldn't be queen.

But to hell with what you promised the country ey? After the conservatives I suppose they know we will just roll over and take it.

Oh FGS they didn’t ‘promise’, they planned. and 22 years later those plans changed, as announced by HMQ. It happens. And a monarchy SHOULD change with the times rather than be stuck in the past.

Possiblynotever · 05/04/2023 08:36

I wonder how she can be Queen and married to a King, head of a church, after all the drama happened with,Diana. I truly do not understand. Any practising Anglican here?

Dear God misogyny is rife on this thread. A woman smiled. At a public event?! And she’s not conventionally attractive?! Burn the witch!

HM Queen Camilla, kings and queens are Majesty, not Highness.
