Led by donkeys - enough is enough

Bloody hell, I’ve just watched the new “led by donkeys” video. People like Matt Hancock wanting to work for a fake consultancy firm for obscene amounts of cash.

I cannot tell You how angry MPs make me right now.

I have a relative that is an NHS dr on £14 an hour. She pays for her own travel and parking. All her study… she pays for. She is so busy she sometimes doesn’t eat.

then these idiots earn loads, and then claim back loads of expenses. Disgusting in my opinion. They then get second jobs that pay them £10k a day. Without even checking if company is real first.

In my opinion an mp should only take a second job if it’s in the nhs, army etc or a volunteer job for a registered charity. That’s it. No other reason.

I can’t even process this. I’ve had enough. What on earth can we do to change this? And yes I’ll not be voting Tory at the next election. They are a bunch of posh rich boys that want to just look after themselves. Politics should be more diverse. what on earth can we do?

@Thisisvenus

It is very easy to criticise politicians (and yes, I am as sick of them as you are) but why don't you become one?

Could it because you do not want to you and your family to be targeted by people threatening to kill or rape you and them?

I am suprised that anyone wants to be a politician at all.

jgw1 · 26/03/2023 11:31

allibaby · 26/03/2023 11:25

Nope I just read NHS doctor and reacted.
The OP later made a post that came across like her relative was a student so yes clarification was needed.

The OP did not make a post that suggested her relative was a student, to anyone who knows anything about students or doctors.

allibaby · 26/03/2023 11:32

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 26/03/2023 11:14

The above post made it sound like she was a student doctor.

Only to someone who has no idea how Drs training is structured. And there you were, making pronouncements from a position of ignorance whilst appealing to the authority of your own employment in the NHS. Maybe put your spade down now?

No I went off what was posted by the OP and later admitted I was wrong.
However it's now easy for the likes of yourself to act all clever AFTER the op clarified what she meant.

Also it's not up to you to tell me I can no longer post so.....

Besides I don’t think it is helpful to blame those that voted Tory last time. It does not help the future at all. Not does it do anything but anger people that could possibly vote for something else.

its like telling a kid that fell over and broke their arm that it’s their own fault.

not sure anyone could have predicted Covid, parties, I’m a celeb, snogging, Boris lying to this extent, rishi getting in, etc. it’s a soap opera!

Actually, yes it was all so predictable. We knew the BJ was an out and out liar, bolstered by racists and misogynistic cheats who were just out to line their own pockets. Unfortunately, some people chose to look the other way.

Matt Hancock requesting £1,500 per hour is just shocking

Labour MP Jess Phillips was paid £15,000 to host a single episode of Have I Got News For You.
Ms Phillips was approached for comment by the Mail on Sunday and accepted that £15k is ‘a lot of money’ but believes ‘it’s the standard fee’.

Well yes I guess expenses claims is another thread we can pull on - heated stables, moats and duck houses and all that.

But getting scammed by a fake South Korean company is a cause for concern whether you accept that or not.

Crikeyalmighty · 26/03/2023 11:33

You know those of you who couldn't vote labour last time because - 'well Corbyn' (I voted Lib Dem because I live somewhere that returns Lib Dem MOs) and you voted Tory anyway , May I suggest you have a reverse think and vote labour in because 'well Truss, Braverman, Patel, Rees Mogg etc' !! Vote Lib Dem in areas where they are likely to be the main rival to the Tory's (Home Counties in particular) Starmer May be a bit earnest, and labour might have a few policies you find a bit woo , but I would take bets that if anyone is found doing anything dodgy they will be out on their ear. Starmer is very into law and order - he won't be soft on corrupt MPs if in power. Many on the left don't like him for this reason , on law and order he's a bit less liberal than some would like. Personally I think he's a good man with strong principles and a very sharp brain- and not remotely corrupt -

@Janiie at risk of keeping this on topic about the midemeanors of Tory MPs, and not the fees paid to TV presenters that is off topic, can I ask you a simple question.
Why do you think it is acceptable for a 56 year old to have had a birthday party whilst denying that opportunity to millions of children?

allibaby · 26/03/2023 11:35

Yep she did

Crikeyalmighty · 26/03/2023 11:35

Oh and that video said it all to me- a bunch of jumped up Apprentice candidates with hugely inflated ideas of their worth. (Which is all based on access to who they know)

Except they never respond to the original posts, just ‘but Labour did this .. ‘. Classic whataboutery and deflection

I suggested you stopped digging yourself further into a hole, not that you should stop posting 🙄

Rhondaa · 26/03/2023 11:39

'You make the point that she pays for her own travel, parking and her choice to do further study…. Don’t we all?!'

Exactly. Why on earth should a junior Dr get free travel! No one else does.

In a few years they'll be earning a fortune driving about in a flash car. Their starting salary may not be great but it's the career progression and potential substantial earnings that these poor junior Drs must focus on.

I'm not digging myself further into a hole. I've admitted I was wrong about pay and there isn't much more I can do about that.

As usual though on Mumsnet there are posters who will continue to be argumentative just to try and make themselves look clever to a bunch of anonymous strangers on an internet forum.

kirinm · 26/03/2023 11:40

Anyone who was stupid enough to vote for the tories in 2019 knew exactly what they were voting for and are responsible for the shitshow we have now.

And most Labour MPs are nothing like the ducking charlatans we have in charge.

NotAnotherBathBomb · 26/03/2023 11:41

Thisisvenus · 26/03/2023 08:02

@Tiocfaigharla It’s not really relevant who I voted for last time. Since we last voted a lot of terrible behaviour has happened

😂😂😂

@Janiie Would it be acceptable for consultants with flash cars to drink and have parties at work like other 56year olds rather than getting on with their job?

Rhondaa · 26/03/2023 11:41

On a thread that The Nasty Evil Tories charge for various roles it is not 'deflection' to say Labour also charge for various appearances and roles. Is it? It's called context.

Is it better to try and look clever when you post or to try and look stupid?

blubberball · 26/03/2023 08:22

I'd never vote Tory in my life. Scum

Well aren't you a delightful enticement to people abandoning voting Tory, open your mind just a bit

kirinm · 26/03/2023 11:43

MintJulia · 26/03/2023 09:18

OP, I couldn't agree with you more. I won't be voting Tory next time.

But do you honestly think Labour is fit for government?

Because I don't. As far as I can see, they are every bit as bad. I think the UK is in for a rough few years because the values of our politicians (of all parties) are atrocious. 😕

Can you list what Labour have done that is as bad?

allibaby · 26/03/2023 11:43

'Anyone who was stupid enough to vote for the tories in 2019 knew exactly what they were voting for and are responsible for the shitshow we have now.'

Well thank God so many of us did or we'd have had that ragtag bunch of halfwits trying to steer us through a global crisis.
