Led by donkeys - enough is enough

Bloody hell, I’ve just watched the new “led by donkeys” video. People like Matt Hancock wanting to work for a fake consultancy firm for obscene amounts of cash.

I cannot tell You how angry MPs make me right now.

I have a relative that is an NHS dr on £14 an hour. She pays for her own travel and parking. All her study… she pays for. She is so busy she sometimes doesn’t eat.

then these idiots earn loads, and then claim back loads of expenses. Disgusting in my opinion. They then get second jobs that pay them £10k a day. Without even checking if company is real first.

In my opinion an mp should only take a second job if it’s in the nhs, army etc or a volunteer job for a registered charity. That’s it. No other reason.

I can’t even process this. I’ve had enough. What on earth can we do to change this? And yes I’ll not be voting Tory at the next election. They are a bunch of posh rich boys that want to just look after themselves. Politics should be more diverse. what on earth can we do?

"The HoL ironically has shown far more rationality and sense as a whole than the HoC for a long time now."

Those that actually turn up to HoL have shown more rationality and sense. A sizeable proportion dont turn up or contribute (that may be to our benefit however).
Not sure Dorries or Dacre or Johnson Snr will add much to rationality - nor will head of IEA.

Blair got rid of Clause 4 30 years ago @YoungMotherHubbardsDog. But then you knew that anyway.

Well, yes, Blair was another closet Tory.

Maybe time for some proper Socialist principles ?

Worth noting that Labour have already announced some policies that would reform parliament - specifically the HoLs, which whilst not a solution to this particular problem, is part of the solution to the corruption that has been a feature of Tory governments for the past 13 years.

The HoL have also stopped the Tories doing a lot of stupid shit, though.

Well, Tony Blair tried to reform the HoL and that went down a storm didn't it?

Ditto for Labour. That's the point of the HoL, it acts as a brake and check on proposed legislation.

@YoungMotherHubbardsDog yeah I'm just saying that they've actually proven their worth in lots of respects. I think we might be agreeing here but I'm not certain Grin

I know of one Tory MP (family member's area) who is not allowed to darken the doors of parliament because he is being investigated by the police for rape & sexual assault charges. As far as I know he is still being paid (by us). He hasn't been in parliament since last April. She has written to his office, the PM & the Tory party chairman asking why they have no representation in parliament all this time.

Boris Johnson was a proven liar & had been sacked more than once BEFORE he became PM. Some of the electorate don't take it seriously enough.

wellstopdoingitthen · 27/03/2023 17:57

They haven't replied & blocked her on SM when she tried that route.

Seems to be a lot of it about......

Three ministers ‘on list of 56 MPs accused of sexual misconduct’

Three members of the Cabinet and two Labour shadow ministers are allegedly on the list.

I go out for the afternoon and come back to find that we have been joined by a real live one. How delightful.

Sallybates · 27/03/2023 18:05

Tories have wrecked our society. NHS is ripe for privatisation, childcare costs are obscene- Labour had far better systems in place to support families. Brexit has not been done, elderly care is abysmal. Water companies are destroying our healthy systems to line the pockets of their shareholders. I could go on but find what is happening obscene and depressing. Get them out!!!!!!

MadeInYorkshire69 · 27/03/2023 18:16

The whole system is rotten. My ( non-Tory) vote is basically wasted because a pig in a blue rosette would get elected where I live. I do not understand people.

It is simple enough. RIOT! Back in the day when the British people had a backbone rioting was regarding as an absolute right - in fact it was the British who started it. Take a big leaf out of the French peoples' notebook. Instead of whining and moaning about how unfair it all is that kids are starving and people are freezing, get out onto the streets. Politicians do what they do because they know they can. They know that we are a broken country and they capitalize on it. Look at some videos of the miners back in the 60's/70's! People used to fight for their rights. Not sit at home whining about how unfair it all is. Our modern day politicians arn't really politicians at all. They are posh con men and many should be in jail for their actions. Read about the history of rioting (The Guardian recently wrote a brilliant article about it urging people to riot again). By doing very little to actually SHOW how angry we all are the politicians will continue on this path. If you always do what you've always done, you will always get what you've always got. Is this really the future you want for your children? A run down country with no decent schools, no NHS, no chance of being able to afford university? Think about it. Students are working 3 jobs and still starving. IMO many politicians are incapable of understanding the suffering of ordinary people. We need politicians who are at least part human who actually 'get it'. I do not condone violence at any level but sometimes we need to stand up as a nation and say 'NO MORE!' I am now elderly and disabled and I have never seen my country in this state. I worry for my grandchildren. I wonder what will even be left for them.

You first.

CriticalAlert · 27/03/2023 18:21

The fact of the matter is that the Tories have always been scum. The lot we have now are a rather foul version of said scum. I'm sorry but I do blame previous Tory voters for getting this government into power, because this government have negatively impacted on my life. However, with luck the Tories will get hammered in the next election. I never want to see them back, they have dragged this country down and sucked it dry with their parasitic ways of making themselves richer by the day. Oh and don't worry Tory voters on this site! Starmer is no socialist (I wish) so your little parochial Tory lives won't be altered too much!!

Beanies12 · 27/03/2023 18:22

I should also add that I am a Waspi woman and along with many, many others I have been robbed of £1000'S of state pension by the Tories. What other country would actually put up with all of this?

nopuppiesallowed · 27/03/2023 18:43

LakeTiticaca · 26/03/2023 08:48

You are very naive if you think only tory MPs have second jobs, claim huge expenses, have second homes etc. They all do, yes even labour!!
Perhaps it is time for a new broom to sweep clean but who do you think is capable of running the country? Have a look back at the last Labour government.

The cash for honours, cronyism, illegal war, flogging off our gold reserves, raided our pension pots.
It wasn't quite the utopia people seem to think it was 😉

I sometimes despair of some of our policies. I liked Keir Starmer, but then I read this - Daily Mail....

'Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has a unique pension deal that allows him to avoid tax on his savings, despite being a vocal critic of the Government’s pensions shake-up for big earners, it was claimed last night.'

I have hopes for Rishi but who knows? And for those who think we'll be living in heaven on earth if Labour win the next election, I still remember Tony Blair and his weapons of mass destruction....It destabilised the middle east.

nopuppiesallowed · 27/03/2023 18:44

*despair of some of our politicians...

GoodChat · 27/03/2023 18:48

Please do not introduce facts into the discussion again. We live in a Govian post expert society where facts are to be discouraged and those who use them belittled.

See for example the ability to argue that Boris Johnson did not break the law because drinking alcohol and eating cake is essential for work.

Bluekerfuffle · 27/03/2023 19:15

Vote for the party whose morals and world view you respect

Yes, well sometimes you have to pick the one you least despise. Anyone moaning about people who voted for the tories, do you really think Corbyn had better morals and world views? That creep who could always be found being all chummy with one undesirable or another, who wasn’t willing to do anything about the anti-semitism in his party.

nopuppiesallowed · 27/03/2023 19:16

As far as I'm concerned, Boris behaved appallingly. There is absolutely no excuse in my mind for his 'parties'. Unless Rishi behaves like a grown up politician, there is no way I'll be voting Conservative in the next election....Right now, as I can't bear the idea of Diane Abbot on government, I'll probably vote for the Raving Loony paety

croydon15 · 27/03/2023 19:21

You complain about politicians what about Tony Blair and his lies which took us to the war in Iraq and opened the doors of hell for years to come giving us Isis so labour are no better l don't know what the answer

Boomboom22 · 27/03/2023 19:27

Does anyone actually think the labour party stand as socialists? That is not their bag. They are centre left neoliberals. Starmer and Rishi are quite similar in most policies, both are a lot like Blair tbh. No party is actually on the right, maybe ukip, the current bunch are trying to look a little but further right with stop the boats to make sure they don't lose their base. Corruption is rife but not just tories.

Boomboom22 · 27/03/2023 19:29

Keir doesn't even want to renationalise most utilities! Far from socialist.
