Led by donkeys - enough is enough

Bloody hell, I’ve just watched the new “led by donkeys” video. People like Matt Hancock wanting to work for a fake consultancy firm for obscene amounts of cash.

I cannot tell You how angry MPs make me right now.

I have a relative that is an NHS dr on £14 an hour. She pays for her own travel and parking. All her study… she pays for. She is so busy she sometimes doesn’t eat.

then these idiots earn loads, and then claim back loads of expenses. Disgusting in my opinion. They then get second jobs that pay them £10k a day. Without even checking if company is real first.

In my opinion an mp should only take a second job if it’s in the nhs, army etc or a volunteer job for a registered charity. That’s it. No other reason.

I can’t even process this. I’ve had enough. What on earth can we do to change this? And yes I’ll not be voting Tory at the next election. They are a bunch of posh rich boys that want to just look after themselves. Politics should be more diverse. what on earth can we do?

Sea

You do accept he allowed anti semitism to thrive in the party dont you though? Racist vile thugs to threaten Jewish MPs? Yes?

Underminer · 27/03/2023 01:33

My twopenneth:

All MPs, from whatever party they are from, should be made to wear a uniform when at work, like in Formula One sponsorship, with the logos/names of people or companies who are paying them.
There should be no exception. It should be that transparent.

There must be a “None of the Above” option in elections. If all the candidates are shite, enough people don’t want any of them, the parties should be forced to go back and reselect someone else.

We are in a Tory area. There is no chance of anyone else ever being voted in, yet people hate the actual MP. He is an embarrassment even to staunch Tory voters. There is no way to get rid of him. None of the above would sort this out.

SeaWitchly · 27/03/2023 03:52

Bane, I don't accept that, no.

thebaneofmylifeisacat · 27/03/2023 07:14

Ok so you don't accept that then I can't really debate with you. It's a matter of public fact snd accepted by the present Labour leadership. Corbyn allowed anti semitism to flourish under his Labour leadership by incompetence or design or both

thebaneofmylifeisacat · 27/03/2023 07:18

I like the uniform idea to be fair it's a good one. The nine of the above candidate idea though I think would lead to anarchy.

If you don't like your MP you have to campaign peacefully against them That's democracy

beguilingeyes · 27/03/2023 07:25

I think we need proportional representation. The FPTP system perpetuates this awful two party stalemate we have and so many votes are 'wasted' because people who live in safe seats feel that their vote doesn't count and it's almost impossible for a party like the Greens to make any headway... although they get a fair proportion of the votes.

namechangeforthisbleep · 27/03/2023 07:28

SeaWitchly · 27/03/2023 00:00

And for those saying voting for Labour under Corbyn was terrifying ridiculous Hmm - Labour's manifesto focused on protecting the NHS and the rights of workers.

You reap what you sow.

Manifestos are not worth the paper they're written on. Full of lies. They're all lying bastards and I'd happily blow every shitting party up

IamnotSethRogan · 27/03/2023 07:30

its like telling a kid that fell over and broke their arm that it’s their own fault. completely disagree. Johnson has always been a deceitful Charlton and he doesn't even try to hide it. A better analogy is "it's like telling a grown adult, who was told if they do something they'll break their arm, then does it anyway, that it's their fault"

thebaneofmylifeisacat · 27/03/2023 07:33

Manifestos should be legally binding that might restore some faith

GoodChat

That's why we need the covid enquiry to see why the nhs allowed this cruelty to happen.

As a nurse myself I found it shamefully cruel snd it should never ever happen again.

Boris bating is the distraction to this.

You are a nurse, but don't know what a junior doctor is.

Ok.

What the Brady footage tells me is.... it is a very very part time job being an MP and Chair of the 1922 Committee. 4 jobs!

Interesting he stood down a few weeks after realising he'd been duped.

Thisisvenus · 27/03/2023 09:23

I just love led by donkeys. If anything this has made me want to support them even more

Yes he did but that part of Labour history history is now over, move on, as have the many Labour Jewish MPs.

The all "but Corbyn..." waffle, is done to divert from the real issues in British society, our economy, the state of education, the NHS, roads, housing, cost of living... Why exactly has the UK the highest energy costs in the world right now? together with the highest inflation in Europe too.

Tory supporters, please explain?

You are just jealous that you are not as talented as he is, I suppose in the same way that many are jealous of Boris and his amazing way with women which is of course how he knows so well what one is and how to treat them.

YukoandHiro · 27/03/2023 09:36

"I don’t believe voting labour next time will help us."

Well there you are then OP. That's your problem.

Maybe address how your cynicism has led you to believe that democracy doesn't function rather the admit that you made what has turned out to be a bad decision.

pompomdaisy · 27/03/2023 10:20

The basic philosophy of Tories is one of market principles and not social principles. It is important therefore who you voted for as this drives their behaviour and beliefs. I've never voted for them. I never will.

YoungMotherHubbardsDog · 27/03/2023 10:23

Blossomtoes · 26/03/2023 23:26

You mean like UKIP did?

Reform is polling at 10% now...

Blossomtoes · 27/03/2023 10:24

YoungMotherHubbardsDog · 27/03/2023 10:23

Reform is polling at 10% now...

It might well be but unless it infiltrates the Tory party that won’t translate into parliamentary seats.

YoungMotherHubbardsDog · 27/03/2023 10:26

beguilingeyes · 27/03/2023 00:12

UKIP didn't technically win seats, but they've basically taken over the Tory party. A lot of the 2019 Tory intake were ex-kippers.
Why start a new party from scratch when you can infiltrate and existing one and make it virtually unrecognisable. See also the Tea Party in the US.

You are mistaken.

UKIP has had 2 MPs

Douglas Carswell and Mark Reckless, both of whom defected from the Tories. Carswell was later returned at a General Election in 2015, and later left the party to sit as an independent.
Reckless lost his seat in 2015 having previously won a by-election. He now sits in the Welsh Assembly for the Brexit Party (elected under a UKIP ticket).

Roussette · 27/03/2023 10:30

And then we have Ann Widdecombe. Wonderful woman. 🙄

YoungMotherHubbardsDog · 27/03/2023 10:30

Blossomtoes · 27/03/2023 10:24

It might well be but unless it infiltrates the Tory party that won’t translate into parliamentary seats.

Not necessarily.

When the Brexit Party was operational people were scared to vote for them because they didn't want to let Labour in (under Corbyn).
Now, no-one is scared of Starmer (who is a closet Tory) so we might get some interesting results.

Watch this space, as they say.

Blossomtoes · 27/03/2023 10:32

If you think Starmer’s a closet Tory I have a bridge to sell you.

If he was a true Socialist he wouldn't have accepted a Knighthood and that bung from David Cameron.

I have some magic beans, if you want to make that part of the offer too.
