Led by donkeys - enough is enough

Bloody hell, I’ve just watched the new “led by donkeys” video. People like Matt Hancock wanting to work for a fake consultancy firm for obscene amounts of cash.

I cannot tell You how angry MPs make me right now.

I have a relative that is an NHS dr on £14 an hour. She pays for her own travel and parking. All her study… she pays for. She is so busy she sometimes doesn’t eat.

then these idiots earn loads, and then claim back loads of expenses. Disgusting in my opinion. They then get second jobs that pay them £10k a day. Without even checking if company is real first.

In my opinion an mp should only take a second job if it’s in the nhs, army etc or a volunteer job for a registered charity. That’s it. No other reason.

I can’t even process this. I’ve had enough. What on earth can we do to change this? And yes I’ll not be voting Tory at the next election. They are a bunch of posh rich boys that want to just look after themselves. Politics should be more diverse. what on earth can we do?

MPs probably need to be paid more to attract decent people and for them not to have to take second jobs. Unpopular opinion I know!

You can say the same of Dr's, nurses, teachers, care assistants, police officers, fire officers (and many more)....... But we pay them peanuts, treat them like shit, expect them to serve society and tell them it's a 'vocation' and we don't want people doing it for the money to justify it.
MP's should be no different if that's the deal.

(And to be clear I don't think it should be).

'do you have anything to say about the former Chancellor trying to grab over £100,000 pounds for a few days "work" for a compnay claiming to be in South Korea?'

Haven't you rtft. Look at Clavs helpful c&p. Labour do exactly the same. Maybe not a made company but I'm sure they've been caught with their trousers down, a Chinese alleged spy springs to mind.

I thought you want the Conservatives to do better than Labour?

thebaneofmylifeisacat · 26/03/2023 20:35

Upset?? 😂😂😂😂

Again your sheltered life! Far too old to be upset by politicians lying! It's what they do. Some get away with it and some don't.

Let me possibly just give you some benefit of age. No party is the moral party they all need watching.

Off out now but a good debate 👍👍

thebaneofmylifeisacat · 26/03/2023 20:36

Oh yes poor old Barry gardener and the Chinese spy ring bless him 😂😂😂😂

beguilingeyes · 26/03/2023 20:36

What about the 'Abba party' that happened in the PMs flat after Dominic Cummings was ousted. Was that a work event too?
And on a completely unrelated sidebar...the man's a multi-millionaire, why can't be get a suit that fits him? Representing the country looking like an unmade bed. It's embarrassing.

@Janiie I have read the thread through, no one has made any attempt to defend the actions of the former Chancellor and the other Tory MPs. There have been as you have identified attempts to go whatabout this or that much like there were in the attempts to defend Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak's law breaking. I guess there actions are indefensible.

Why does the phrase "Off out now" remind me of another poster?

GoodChat · 26/03/2023 21:45

What 'they did' was have laws to reduce community spread so folk couldn't keep mixing households willy nilly while also saying SD or mitigation needed to be in place for those who couldn't wfh.

What they did was make it illegal for you to hold your parents hand while their spouse of 40+ years was being buried in the ground. The spouse who they couldn't visit when they were dying, because that was illegal too.

Then had 'leaving parties' and staff 'celebrations' because they 'worked' oh so hard to 'protect' us while letting thousands of people die lonely, scared and unnecessarily.

I have been unreliably informed many times over the past year, that many NHS staff were regularly having parties in their staffrooms throughout the pandemic.

I don't believe you have been informed of any such thing and unless you were actually in any of those staff rooms how can you state 'unreliably'?

Blimey you've been at this all day, have you nothing better to do? 😀

Funnily enough if you read the whole thread there was a poster this very evening saying unreliably informing us all.
They think it is some kind of defence of Boris breaking the law.

thebaneofmylifeisacat · 26/03/2023 22:26

Well I was off out now so that's what I said? If you choose to see a conspiracy that's your prerogative. Been on mumsnet for 24 plus years 😂😂😂 but feel free to check with HQ as obviously if someone disagrees with you there must be dark deeds a foot.

thebaneofmylifeisacat · 26/03/2023 22:30

GoodChat

That's why we need the covid enquiry to see why the nhs allowed this cruelty to happen.

As a nurse myself I found it shamefully cruel snd it should never ever happen again.

Boris bating is the distraction to this.

Howtostart · 26/03/2023 23:23

No !! THEY ARE NOT ALL 'THE SAME'

This is the trope being peddled to get you to vote for the same bunch of charlatans !!

When 'Led by donkeys ' did their background work they did it from 'members interests' which lead them to pick on the people they did ..

You mean like UKIP did?

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 26/03/2023 23:41

I blame all of the people who voted Tory. Boris's lack of integrity was extremely well known before his government was elected, so I presume that everyone knew what we were getting. It was pretty obvious imo.

I also blame all of the people who claim that all politicians are as bad as each other. That is just a way of letting the corrupt politicians off the hook, and it's exactly what they want you to think.

The very worst thing about democracy is that we get the governments that the electorate deserves.

thebaneofmylifeisacat · 26/03/2023 23:42

Well ukip has never won a seat I believe but brexit happened.

Look I have no time for Boris he won a huge majority and did nothing with it but to be fair to him no one expected the pandemic snd he was lucky to survive covid. However he's a busted flush now so why keep on picking the sore. It makes him popular in the country as it feeds the theory that Boris was brought down by the establishment.

Reform will not get a seat but they will influence voters. Voters want law and order, decent enough schools, ok nhs, stop the boats, low taxes, nothing to do with wierd trans nonsense and a steady economy. That's a fact.

I could shake Kier to get him to listen to sense! You got to take the daily mail/sun readers with you to win an election!!! Ignore the minority shouty Twitter lot they are irrelevant

SeaWitchly · 26/03/2023 23:54

I absolutely blame you if you voted Tory. All the evidence was there that Boris and the Tories were and are thoroughly self-serving and conniving.

You don't think people have a duty to vote responsibly?

We knew that Boris Johnson was a serial liar without any moral compass long before he became PM. It was abundantly clear that integrity didn't matter to him, so it was hardly surprising when he surrounded himself with others who also lacked integrity.

People knew what he was like but they voted for him anyway. I absolutely hold them accountable for the decisions that they made, because it is those decisions that led us directly to where we are now.

If you think that means that I need to grow the fuck up, then so be it. In my view, it is the people who are unwilling to own the consequences of their choices who have some growing up to do. The electorate are not just helpless victims without any agency. If we want better government, we need to make different choices.

And for those saying voting for Labour under Corbyn was terrifying ridiculous Hmm - Labour's manifesto focused on protecting the NHS and the rights of workers.

UKIP didn't technically win seats, but they've basically taken over the Tory party. A lot of the 2019 Tory intake were ex-kippers.
Why start a new party from scratch when you can infiltrate and existing one and make it virtually unrecognisable. See also the Tea Party in the US.
