Ok ok!! I know IABU. It’s none of my business. But LOOK AT WHAT HE’S DONE!!

I think in the ‘business’ it’s called ‘doing a Zak Efron’.

Madonna's come under fire for her surgeries but, had she aged naturally, then she would not be working in the same way as she currently is. The photos of her naturally aged sisters demonstrate how she might look now had she had no work done and society simply would not buy her products if this was the case.

I don't agree with this at all. It's true Madonna's particular thing is reinventing herself and switching looks, but plenty of brilliant women have continued to succeed into later life without having constant surgery to try to look younger and younger. I don't recall Aretha Franklin in old age bringing the house down with incredible performances, having a tightly stretched face and nipped and tucked body. She was just herself, an older woman. Chrissie Hynde, Patti Smith, Joni Mitchell, Celine Dion. If you're good people will keep buying your products. It's just not true that women "can't succeed" unless they do this. Maybe it's more true if you lack talent, and I think it is more true for women than men, but we should also talk about the women (and men) who say no to all this stuff.

Aretha Franklin lived in a very different time and her "product", for want of a better word, was very different too.

There has never been a time when people weren't outraged by Madonna. It's what she does.

He was so handsome before.

Don’t @ you, @LyingWitchInTheWardrobe ? How old are you?

@SockGoddess

I thought about Debbie Harry too. Her product has evolved as she's aged. Debbie Harry was a sex symbol who has aged and she no longer sells sex just her talent when she performs.

Madonna's product is different. Madonna has always pushed barriers and now she's saying why can't I be sexually provocative and relevant in my 60s? The plastic surgery, hair dye and corseted outfits are a necessary part of her product.

Your examples are more similar to the path Debbie Harry has taken I think.

This whole cheeks thing is weird anyway - he had nice cheeks! Having normal cheeks isn't some kind of fail. Making them look sucked-in tends to make you look oddly puppet-like, villainous or consumptive, depending on your bone structure.

Has Cheryl had the same surgery?

ThePoshUns · 23/03/2023 22:23

I was thinking the same, Cheryl has also reached the ' too much' tipping point in terms of fillers and other facial treatments

3luckystars · 24/03/2023 09:11

I just saw a photo of Cheryl, she looks a bit like Rachel Mc Adams now.

what a beautiful woman, she didn’t need to do a thing. Rachel mc Adam is beautiful also.

I feel equal amounts of pity and frustration.
I feel sorry for them that they feel the pressure to do this to themselves but I’m also so angry that they perpetuate this pressure.

It’s so, so unhealthy and it has to stop.
