Ok ok!! I know IABU. It’s none of my business. But LOOK AT WHAT HE’S DONE!!

I think in the ‘business’ it’s called ‘doing a Zak Efron’.

@QuintanaRoo hate veneers, they look awful. And so bad for your teeth. They literally shave the teeth down to put them on. So fake.

ISpyCobraKai · 21/03/2023 15:48

Harry Styles teeth look the same to me and he's the biggest star to ever come out of X Factor.

QuintanaRoo · 21/03/2023 15:51

Oh maybe it was whitening not veneers actually 😁. Which I guess isn’t as bad. Though I did read an interview with one finalist and she talked about the pressure to lose weight, so definitely pressure over appearance.

ISpyCobraKai · 21/03/2023 16:03

Kym Marsh definitely was but that was Popstars.
That said, I'm not disagreeing that there's pressure over the way you look, but as far as I can tell, none of the other members of 1D have had anything done, I I know far more than I should for a middle aged woman!

JaneJeffer · 21/03/2023 17:01

In Simon's defence he got braces for Niall Horan and it's such an improvement.

I dont know, I think he just looks thinner and older and like he's had possible hair plugs. Also wearing make up in the bigger picture. But lack of beard and age/weight might have just changed his face. Maybe I'm naieve.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 21/03/2023 17:21

I like less than perfect teeth, it adds character. Everyone's starting to look the same.

JuvenileEmu · 21/03/2023 17:27

GrinAndVomit · 20/03/2023 21:57

What do you suggest?

#BeKind. Smile beatifically as young people mutilate their bodies and faces. Never forget, being judgemental is the absolute worst thing you can do!

Celebrities appearance/ looks always get discussed don't they. Good or bad. If we didn't they wouldn't be celebs.

AngeloMysterioso · 21/03/2023 18:10

BloomForever · 21/03/2023 00:57

@AngeloMysterioso my mistake, it's not a pap shot with lots of angles, but a photo call on the red carpet at a premier, which paparazzi certainly don't obtain pictures from, and every picture must have been taken at the same angle.
I'm assuming he's stood in the queue like all the other celebrities for his turn, maybe he got fast passed through if he's super famous and spent a minute on the red carpet. Who knows?!
live and let live I say, he's not doing any harm.

The existence of various angles doesn’t make it a paparazzi picture… Paparazzi are the ones who take candid photos of people who are quite often unaware they’re being photographed (sometimes it’s a paid, pre-arranged pap walk) and they’re just going about their lives, and get pictured sneezing, yawning, looking at their phones, meeting a mate for lunch, not trying to look their best, not posing, not standing in a space designated for photography with pre-erected lights and a little x on the ground so you know exactly where to stand for everyone to get a shot.

For example, here’s three pictures of Kylie Jenner- one is a genuine candid paparazzi shot, one is a paid-for, photoshopped pap walk shot and one is a photo call shot.

Can you tell the difference?

What a strange post. I'm working hard to get my children to accept themselves as they are, knowing that there are others who have 'work done', that I don't want them to follow.

That BeKind shtick is what's being used to excuse and divert attention from gratuitous judgement of things that are nothing at all to do with anybody else. Sort your own kids out, stop judging looks and maybe this shitshow will stop. Maybe not as much fun but definitely worthwhile and no beatific smile in sight.

You just seem very confused between judging surgery as a destructive trend and “judging looks”.

Concern about the ever increasing numbers of young people submitting to surgery is a not a “gratuitous judgment” it is a genuine concern about where this trend is leading.

The idea that a societal trend is “nothing to do with anyone else” is bizarre. It affects everyone, it’s all of our problem, including you who says you “don’t want” your kids to follow this trend. Are your kids allowed to discuss it? Or do you attempt to shut them down too.

TheGoogleMum · 21/03/2023 21:05

He looked so much better before. How sad

It’s like they’ve got their hand on the door handle out just can’t figure out how to open it.

Go on, @LyingWitchInTheWardrobe you’re so close!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 21/03/2023 21:25

Mirabai I'm not confused about it, I've read the thread and I can't see much that relates to concern about the trend for surgery. That is something that is worth discussing, in my opinion. No need for the leap to my children and their ability to discuss things with me.

Dissent has nothing to do with 'shutting down', it's just dissent and perfectly reasonable. This thread wasn't started with any good intentions and there's no need to be disingenuous about it, the vacuous comments are there for all to see.

Your username suggests you're a 1D Fan. Maybe a tad biased? 😂. I'm only joking, it just tickled me

Really? I mean the entire thread exits because a young man has completely altered his face, but apparently you missed that in your rush to promote your own virtue signalling.

I was genuinely shocked as were 77% of respondents. Wrt disingenuousness - your attempts to hijack the thread to showcase your own pomposity means the whine about “good intentions” rings laughably hollow.

He had a nice face, now he reminds me of the guy from Lazy town

Yes!! It's been driving me crazy trying to think of where I know that face.

Fizbosshoes · 22/03/2023 07:23

It might have started as "what does he look like?" But a lot of posters are asking more "why has he done it and why is there a trend for young already attractive people having surgical tweaks and procedures?
What used to be common in main wealthy middle aged or older people is now becoming mainstream among 20 or 30 somethings from all demographics. While some people think that's positive that you can change your look (pretty drastically) for feeling good and confidence purposes, others might have concerns about long term effects, potential dangers and the pressure to look a certain way.

ReneBumsWombats · 22/03/2023 07:29

I think this overly "done" Kardashian look (and its male equivalent) must surely not have long left. It's been around for ages and people are starting to make fun of it. Did fashions always used to last this long?

fantasyhomesbythesea · 22/03/2023 07:42

Very sad that Liam has had this done this to his face. Do celebrities think the public won't notice. But no amount of negative comments will stop the trend. Very sad

2pence · 22/03/2023 08:51

It's been a part of celebrity as long as movies have existed. When your face is your fortune then there's not a great deal of choice if you want to stay relevant.

Madonna's come under fire for her surgeries but, had she aged naturally, then she would not be working in the same way as she currently is. The photos of her naturally aged sisters demonstrate how she might look now had she had no work done and society simply would not buy her products if this was the case.

fairycakes1234 · 22/03/2023 08:57

Liam was such a good looking boy but now to do this, its sad. Hes no different to the millions of women who are doing this every day to their face.

SockGoddess · 22/03/2023 10:09

I don't agree with this at all. It's true Madonna's particular thing is reinventing herself and switching looks, but plenty of brilliant women have continued to succeed into later life without having constant surgery to try to look younger and younger. I don't recall Aretha Franklin in old age bringing the house down with incredible performances, having a tightly stretched face and nipped and tucked body. She was just herself, an older woman. Chrissie Hynde, Patti Smith, Joni Mitchell, Celine Dion. If you're good people will keep buying your products. It's just not true that women "can't succeed" unless they do this. Maybe it's more true if you lack talent, and I think it is more true for women than men, but we should also talk about the women (and men) who say no to all this stuff.
