Ok ok!! I know IABU. It’s none of my business. But LOOK AT WHAT HE’S DONE!!

I think in the ‘business’ it’s called ‘doing a Zak Efron’.

Did he do this fat removal that apparently is very popular among celebs?

Honestly - I do think it’s important to point out that this is weird behaviour. Otherwise plastic surgery becomes normalised along with all the issues it brings.

I don't think your mumsnet thread is going to have the impact you think.

But it has been normalised to the degree that is largely goes unmentioned. The press are culpable with this talking about people's natural beauty when they might be make-up free, but they still have had work done. Many are rapidly losing sight of what a non-tweaked face looks like, particularly amongst celebrities. I think celebrities need to be more open about what they have had done.

UneFoisAuChalet · 20/03/2023 20:03

Oh, I don’t know!

I think it’s his business what he does with his face and perhaps it’s wrong to be discussing it. But I promise you, if Marge from accounting came in one day with all the fat sucked out of her face, the office canteen would be buzzing.

I just worry that altering your looks so radically is becoming the norm. I’m of the generation where you had to live with your imperfections unless they were life threatening. I know some young people who are in debt due to boob and nose jobs. It’s as commonplace as buying a designer handbag. And if everybody has that bag, that boob job, those lip fillers why shouldn’t you too…

Nothing in your op indicates you wanted this to be a discussion about behaviour / mental health or “normalising” plastic surgery. You wouldn’t have felt the need to say “ok ok I know iabu” otherwise.

Backpedaling when people are calling you out for being vicious is low.

ThePoshUns · 20/03/2023 20:05

It doesn't look like the same person.
Sad that anyone male or female feels the need to dramatically alter their face in such a way

soffa · 20/03/2023 20:05

But it has been normalised to the degree that is largely goes unmentioned

In real life I don't think it does

GoodVibesHere · 20/03/2023 20:08

Main difference seems to be the beard, to me? Maybe he just looks a bit older, but that's ok?

LizziesTwin · 20/03/2023 20:09

I recently went through the electronic passport gates and quite a few people didn’t go through automatically; I wondered if the gates still work if you’ve had fillers done?

Meandfour · 20/03/2023 20:09

highfidelity · 20/03/2023 19:54

Buccal fat removal and possibly an upper eye lift. Very light Botox on his forehead. I don't think he's had any filler.

I reckon he’s definitely had jaw filler.. look at the shape. Possibly chin filler too.

Haffiana · 20/03/2023 20:09

NewIdeasToday · 20/03/2023 19:42

He has had a really tough time lately. The last thing he needs is mean comments like these. We should all be a bit more aware of the possible impact of unkind comments on people who may already be facing difficulties.

He has changed the part of his body that everyone looks at. Stop acting as if it was something he did just for himself.

Amaskad · 20/03/2023 20:10

I feel sorry for all these young men and women who have fame very early in life, the Disney stars, Justin bieber, Liam I think was around 14/15 when he first auditioned. The prrssure to keep the looks and all the mess and confusion around the all consuming fame

Fancylike · 20/03/2023 20:11

It’s such a shame he’s felt like he needed to do this. Gorgeous youthful face before, now looks like a Thunderbird puppet.

Downunderduchess · 20/03/2023 20:11

I’ve not seen one person that looks better for having this buccal fat removal procedure. It’s a severe/gaunt look. But it’s personal choice.

Cocobutt · 20/03/2023 20:12

This is so sad.

There has definitely been an increase in trying to look ‘perfect’ and it’s sad that so many young people feel they need to have surgery to look a certain way.

None of my business etc etc but what has he done !

thethinendofthewedge · 20/03/2023 20:14

I'm not even sure which is the 'before' and which is the 'after'!!

MidgeHardcastle · 20/03/2023 20:15

He looks a bit like Cheryl to me, eyes and lips. Disclaimer - don't have glasses on

NeverHadANickname · 20/03/2023 20:15

This has made me feel really sad. I have no idea who 99% of celebrities are and people are obviously free to do whatever they want with their bodies. However, it is such a shame that people DO feel the need to do things like this. I can't really explain all my feelings about this to be honest, mainly sad and I really do despair of a society that makes people feel like they need to do it.

highfidelity · 20/03/2023 20:15

Meandfour · 20/03/2023 20:09

I reckon he’s definitely had jaw filler.. look at the shape. Possibly chin filler too.

That shape is achieved just by removing buccal fat - look at Lea Michele (the woman from Glee) as another example. But hey, who knows. Liam, if you're reading, do tell us! 😉

Ktime · 20/03/2023 20:16

The sanctimony is strong in this thread. Doesn’t stop them from clicking on the thread and partaking though.

stoptherainny · 20/03/2023 20:16

I thought it was Michael Jackson at first

Whu · 20/03/2023 20:18

Poor young man. The stress of growing up in the limelight must have been immmense.

DeflatedAgain · 20/03/2023 20:26

I've read that buccal fat removal dramatically ages you as you get older.

Bit of a risk but each to their own!

AngeloMysterioso · 20/03/2023 20:27

Buccal fat removal seems to be all the rage with the Hollywood lot atm. Was quite surprised at the change in Sophie Turner’s previously round, youthful face- she looks totally different now
