To complain about this DPD delivery person??

I was breastfeeding the baby when the door went so I didn't answer it. A note waa put through the door saying the package was left by the back door, I assumed this meant the back gate, accessible from the driveway. I opened my back door and found the package sitting right there, inside my private garden right outside the back door which opens into my kitchen. The back gate was closed and locked (pic attached)

So the delivery person has somehow opened my back gate from the outside and walked into my private garden. I feel like this is absolutely not OK???

Pic - bottom lock is rusted open and broken, top lock is a simple latch. (Yes that is our Christmas tree on the side we dry it out over winter then chop up for garden fires!)

To complain about this DPD delivery person??

So it wasn't locked ?

itsmeagainagain · 14/03/2023 13:40

was the gate locked? can't see how he could have undone it otherwise. if unlocked I see that as no different to going through an unlocked gate at the front

babasaclover · 14/03/2023 13:42

I'd just be glad to get the parcel and not have to go collect it 🤷‍♀️

LadyKenya · 14/03/2023 13:42

So not locked then.

KikkisCat · 14/03/2023 13:43

YABU! Honestly, most people complain about parcels being left in full view rather than putting it somewhere safe like this delivery person did.

ApolloandDaphne · 14/03/2023 13:43

If it was unlocked I can't see what he has done wrong. Delivery men often put notes through our front door then come through our back gate and leave parcels by the back door.

Cloudhoppingdancer · 14/03/2023 13:44

It was a secure location!

daisiesdahlias · 14/03/2023 13:44

I'm not sure why people are saying the gate was unlocked? You can see from the picture that it is latched shut? There isn't a handle on the other side

OP posts:
Redglitter · 14/03/2023 13:44

So you want to complain about them doing their job & delivering your parcel

Theyve presumably left it there because they felt it was safer. I.honestly can't see what the problem is. It's not like they walked into your house

Even thinking of complaing is absolutely ridiculous

JorisBonson · 14/03/2023 13:45

If he'd taken back this thread would be about DPD not delivering a parcel because you were busy breastfeeding 🙄

FluffySatsuma · 14/03/2023 13:45

Sometimes our delivery men yeet ours over the back gate. Are you sure it wasn't a big old throw?

LadyKenya · 14/03/2023 13:45

I honestly can see nothing here to find the energy to complain about, the OP obviously feels different.

ItsAHardKn0ckLife1 · 14/03/2023 13:46

I’m struggling to understand why this is an issue 🤷🏻‍♀️

HJ40 · 14/03/2023 13:46

Perhaps we'll have to agree to disagree but I wouldn't call a gate latched shut locked. That's why I asked.

Crumpleton · 14/03/2023 13:46

YABU....If the gate was locked and the DPD person got in you really need to check your locks.

I'd be pleased that it was put out of sight of people passing by.

ApolloandDaphne · 14/03/2023 13:47

You didn't say whether that picture was the inside or the outside of the gate. I assume he managed to lift the latch from the outside. Or he bunged it over. Or he shimmied over the wall. Anyway you got your parcel so be grateful!

DistantSkye · 14/03/2023 13:47

YABU and overreacting hugely. Maybe the gate was unlocked (I realise you've attached a picture but presumably that wasn't from before the delivery driver came through).
You got your parcel and it was left somewhere safe. I really couldn't be bothered to get all worked up over this. It's not like they came striding into your living room and chucked it at you whilst you were breastfeeding 😂😂😂

itsmeagainagain · 14/03/2023 13:48

are you sure there isn't a latch on the other side? that would be unusual.....

justteanbiscuits · 14/03/2023 13:48

How would he have unlocked it without a key?

Might he have just thrown it over like most DPD deliveries?!

IhearyouClemFandango · 14/03/2023 13:49

It’s a garden. How is it any different to someone opening an outer door and leaving a parcel in a porch?

Clymene · 14/03/2023 13:49

Oh my god how dare he try and keep your parcel safe! What an arsehole

🙄

Botw1 · 14/03/2023 13:50

Yab utterly ridiculous

itsmeagainagain · 14/03/2023 13:51

yes to this ☝

itsmeagainagain · 14/03/2023 13:52

itsmeagainagain · 14/03/2023 13:51

yes to this ☝

sorry was quoting @justteanbiscuits he probably lobbed it over

Aftjbtibg · 14/03/2023 13:52

I don’t get how he unlatched it; Are you sure he didn’t throw it over? Although that has some issues. We have delivery people unlock our gate as you can do it from the outside if you’re tall enough and it doesn’t bother me, I’d rather packages be left somewhere slightly private.
i think you’re over reacting
