MavisMcMinty
And here’s the Tory donor BBC chairman, who is so committed to the impartiality of others

We are going back as far as 2001 now are we? Grin

We are going back as far as 2003 now, are we?

I don’t understand all the references to Lineker being funded with taxpayers’ money. As far as I’m aware the licence fee isn’t and never has been a tax.

According to Twitter, Andrea Jenkyns thinks it is.

Mind you, she's as thick as pigshit as well as being an uncouth yob.

MavisMcMinty · 11/03/2023 20:08

Which is why the government should play no part in choosing lapdogs on the BBC board.

MavisMcMinty · 11/03/2023 20:09

Sorry, that was to @Clavinova .

Also recycling a link from this morning which I must say I think is commendably environmentally friendly.

We already have earlier in the thread - hence my Grin

Do you have a link for that?
Thanks op. I have at least two complaints to make.

The David Attenborough was always planned to premiere on iPlayer, that but is a total storm without merit.

Ah right. It was in the daily fail so yeah should have realised. It was something about one of the episodes would annoy one politician or another

LadyWithLapdog · 11/03/2023 21:25

I’ve re-submitted 2 complaints to the BBC as I didn’t get a case number & acknowledgment this morning (after I clicked the link to verify my email). I only realised you need to get this when I submitted a 3rd complaint. Check you’ve got yours.

Interesting. The first complaint I submit I didn't get a verification, the 2nd time I did, the 3rd time I did and got an acknowledgement.
Perhaps a sign that the BBCs complaints system has been a little busy.
Perhaps I need to submit my original complaint for a 3rd time (the 3rd one today was different) in the morning. And then an additional complaint about the complaints system.

😂 I feel like a frothy DM reader submitting so many complaints to the BBC

Shulk · 11/03/2023 21:48

The BBC is dead to me, until and unless it’s current leadership resign.

I have been troubled by apparent right wing bias in recent years but, the fact that many on the right feel the opposite, quelled those fears.

I did not realize how packed with Tory donors and supporters the upper echelons of the BBC was and, by singling out Lineker for censure, they have demolished all perception of impartiality.

There is no way that Lineker would have been sanctioned for praising government policy.

Fuck the BBC.

And they kept Lineker in post after slagging Corbyn off, which is hardly neutral or apolitical. But he was on the same side as the Tories then sooooo...

Hopefully you have all cancelled your TV licences as complaints are often ignored.

Why don't you set an example and cancel yours?

OP posts:
LlynTegid · 12/03/2023 06:53

I don't think anyone should cancel their tv licences. However, I think a number will and therefore it will cost the BBC lost income, or just the cost of chasing up and maybe prosecuting those who do.

coffeeandbiscuittime · 12/03/2023 07:23

This was mine.

The wrongful suspension of Gary Lineker

I am very concerned about very obvious right wing bias at the BBC. Why are Gary Linekers personal tweets a problem but Alan Sugars right wing anti union tweets are not? I understand the need for impartiality from news presenters but the BBC does apparently not expect this, eg Laura Kuennsberg inappropriately challenging a factual comment about Boris Johnson without sanction and Fiona Bruce doing the same about his Father both on news programmes ?? To say nothing of the BBCs reputation being brought into disrepute regarding a failure to deal appropriately with a certain persons clear involvement in Boris Johnson’s finances. He should be suspended whilst that is investigated in the same way that apparently Mr Lineker cannot perform his job after defending the vulnerable. Even if you don’t agree with him he has a right to free speech. The BBC has shown total partiality in recent actions and also a lack of consistency in implementation of “rules”.

Valeriekat · 12/03/2023 08:24

The BBC have been strongly criticized in the past for breaking their own impartiality rules and warned about losing their charter because of it.

Did the BBC deliberately have LK on this morning to ensure there were more complaints?

Do I need to get my pen out again? I’ll have to see what LK said now.

Utter refusal to address whether the language used by Tory politicans is dehumanising and othering.

Not really a surprise.

I think you have confused me with someone else.
I posted the link so that anyone could complain about anything they liked about the BBC.

I have to say I think Andrew Marr sums up the situation rather well.

You’re complaining because he breached his contract?

Which part of his contract has he breached?
