No agenda I’m just interested as Kier is on LBC this morning…

For me it’s the TWAW magical thinking, and not being convinced they would prioritise average earners, which I want to happen.

OP posts:

Kier Starmer

x2boys · 06/03/2023 09:24

Keir,Starmer whinged ,and moaned throughout the pandemic, but didn't actually offer any helpful alternatives.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 06/03/2023 09:26

Nothing. I shall be voting for them, loudly and proudly.

HiccupHorrendousHaddock · 06/03/2023 09:26

Their refusal to protect women’s rights.

Thepeopleversuswork · 06/03/2023 09:27

It's funny, I've been thinking about this a lot. I do (and always have) voted Labour although I very nearly didn't during the Corbyn era and I'm pretty troubled now by some of the thinking on trans issues (though not to the point of being an "anyone but Labour") person.

For me, the utter corruption, dysfunction and downright incompetence of the Tory government and the way they have run down public services and plunged us into economic penury because of a stupid bit of internecine narcissism is so toxic and self-destructive that getting rid of them takes precedence over their position on women. I also think there are enough sensible female heads in the party to prevail.

I acknowledge the infiltration of certain parts of Labour by anti-feminist elements and it is a concern. But I think at this moment in time this is the lesser of two evils so I will vote (and campaign for) Labour with a clear conscience.

That doesn't mean I'm not critical though.

RobinStrike · 06/03/2023 09:27

Same as you the TWAW. Almost always voted Labour apart from when a LibDem would keep the Tories out. But I feel I will have to spoil my ballot.

Inkpotlover · 06/03/2023 09:28

Lack of clarity over what Labour actually stands for now. I like KS, I enjoy watching him eviscerate the Tories at PMQ, but when it comes to outlining what policies Labour will enact if they come into power there's nothing but empty bluster. I'm more likely to vote Lib Dem this time round.

Bamboux · 06/03/2023 09:28

I'm Jewish.

WhisperingAutistic · 06/03/2023 09:29

The Twaw thing. I've always voted for them, except one time when I voted for Green.
Think I'm going to have to spoil my ballot tbh

GhostsJulianforPrimeMinister · 06/03/2023 09:29

Same as TWAW stance

WiIson · 06/03/2023 09:29

Since TWAW.

Eylis · 06/03/2023 09:30

All that trans shite.

SouperWoman · 06/03/2023 09:30

I’m a Jewish woman

rioseco · 06/03/2023 09:31

TWAW

BourbonBon · 06/03/2023 09:31
  1. Their magic money tree
  2. refusal to protect woman’s rights
  3. Kier always looks confused
countrypunk · 06/03/2023 09:31

TWAW.

MarshaBradyo · 06/03/2023 09:32

Keir Starmer to an extent. A fence sitter and politics by focus group

But more women’s rights, waste of time and money with bad ideas eg abolishing HoL, damaging private education sector, things that will not do much eg just drive Nom Doms o/s

Not convinced on GPs in NHS nor education / curriculum redo either

Thisisthewaywe · 06/03/2023 09:33

I could be persuaded, so this post is not a definite ‘I will not vote for them’ but I have the following concerns:

  1. TWAW
  2. I do not like the look of their education policies at all, although they aren’t set in stone
  3. Private schools and the 20% tax. Undecided re schools at the moment though.
BramleyAppleHotCrossBun · 06/03/2023 09:34

Being in a 'safe' Tory seat. I'll be voting Lib Dem as the most likely candidate to oust the Tories. Will still end up with a Conservative anyway.

NOTHING is more important than changing this shit show. Nothing.

This, apart from the liking starmer bit as I’m not sure i do

the twaw bit isn’t helping either

its stuff like rayner being asked if labour would reverse the corporate tax cuts and being completely unable to say yes…just kept saying the tories shouldn’t have done it

FourTeaFallOut · 06/03/2023 09:35

Their treatment of Rosie Duffield and their quasi-religious way of dealing with dissenting voices as blasphemy.

ChickenDhansak82 · 06/03/2023 09:36

Their lack of common sense over where money comes from and spending too much for the now and not thinking about future finances of the UK.

I don't trust them to reward those who work really hard for a living. The whole benefits system in this country has long been a joke, and I want to see a government who will support those who work hard.

I dislike the attitude of expecting something for nothing and this needs to be changed. The benefits system was brought in to help those desperately in need and those who received it were grateful for the help. It has now become a lifestyle choice and a way of life which is awful.

I've come to the conclusion that Keir is deliberately not announcing much policy, because recent history shows the Tories steal it and pretend it was their idea. I'd keep schtum until an election too...

whenindoubtgotothelibrary · 06/03/2023 09:37

I loathed Corbyn, unlike my teenage children, but would vote Labour now Keir Starmer is leader. However for the past 20 years I have lived in a London borough where a Labour vote is a wasted vote. So I have to hold my nose and vote Lib Dem as that is the only way of keeping the Tories out.

I'm conflicted though - was a long-term Labour party member but cancelled my membership after the David Lammy 'rights hoarding dinosaurs' fiasco. Labour still appears to be totally captured.

LlynTegid · 06/03/2023 09:37

I won't vote Tory, never have done and will never do so. The choice for many who don't vote Tory is not necessarily Labour.
