Peanut butter and other things we get wrong

OK so I really like things like reeses with peanut butter in but when I have bought peanut butter and put it on bread, it's the most claggy, odd sensation and I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but what?

I'm a grown ass adult so should be capable of making a sandwich. Please enlighten me.

Also feel free to add things you need enlightenment on.

Peanut butter on toast is horrible. The best thing to do with peanut butter is to cook it with coconut milk and chillies and shallots, to make a banging satay sauce.

Whole earth crunchy on granary with jam is yummy.

@Somanymistakes do you mean the jars of Princess sandwich spread? Only ever get the fish ones and make sure you use proper butter.

Haslet you are on your own but ox tongue is lovely in a sandwich.

Peanut butter is great on toast but I prefer it on cool crisp toast - with butter obviously

Totally agree OP. I so want to like PB but just don't, tried lots of diff kinds including posh crunch ones. They all have a weird texture when eating and stick to my teeth and make my mouth dry. Not enjoyable. I have been thinking about trying it with jam but doubt I will like it.

Just eat it with a spoon. Bread is fattening anyway.

Always have your sandwich with a hot cup of tea. And don’t use any normal butter.

It is also very good with honey on toast.

Brown seeded bread toasted with butter, peanut butter and banana is delicious!!

I like the Waitrose whole nut one the best.

I wouldn't put it on bread though, toast or oatcakes usually.

I think by sandwich spread they mean the one that's a bit like coleslaw in a jar?

You need to try it on those fruit and oat ryvitas, takes bloody ages to chomp!!

When I hear sandwich spread I always think of the one that's like finely minced vomit.

Definitely crunchy, and preferably 100% peanuts. I like mine with marmite

Mani-life peanut crunchy butter on fresh wholemeal bread is the best. Also on a hot cross bun.

I don't like it on regular toast particularly.

I agree with all the pp , on hot thick seeded toast ( I use tescos seeded loaf ) then stick it back under the grill for a few seconds to warm up a it , def need a brew with it tho .
I have had ii with thin sliced apple too , using the apple like bread

I like mine with apple slices or banana. Also occasionally on a cinnamon bagel with gooseberry jam.

I once worked for an American family and their favourite sandwich with PB was with mayo and crispy lettuce. Don’t knock until you’ve tried it. I make it for myself now and again. Always crunchy, and if a PBJ the jam has to be raspberry. It’s the law

I used to have it with sliced pickled onions. But the thought of it makes me feel sick as an adult.

My preference is smooth peanut butter on thick toastie white bread with seedless raspberry jam.

Salted butter first and the peanut butter on toast is also good imo.

Highly recommend it on danish bread toast it's delicious ! Eating some now.
