If you got your period at someone’s house

Totally random but I’m suffering from being peri and periods all over the shop, I don’t always have sanitary supplies on me. If you got your period at someone else’s house what would you do?
Im thinking about putting a little sign saying ladies, supplies are in the upstairs bathroom, please help yourself if needed.
YANBU-great idea
YABU-far too weird

If my periods were all over I’d carry protection always tbh!

Starseeed · 27/02/2023 20:03

Weird. Just carry your own stuff surely? That’s what the zip pocket of your handbag is for - always carry some with you and top it up every day you use some! There isn’t one size fits all anyway - I prefer to use what works for me.

maddening · 27/02/2023 20:03

If I was at someone's house I would either ask if it was a female friend, or roll up a wad of loo roll until I could get tampons.

If I am due on I carry some on me - in your case you should carry some at all times I reckon.

fuzzbearpenguin · 27/02/2023 20:04

Putting a sign up is weird. Especially directing them to a different loo. Just have a few supplies in all bathrooms. Unless you have a large amount of women visit you who don't know you well enough to help themselves, why would you need a sign?!

MissMaple82 · 27/02/2023 20:04

Weird....vwey weird

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 27/02/2023 20:04

We always have sanitary towels by the loo just for our own convenience (for me and Dd I mean). So I’d hope someone was happy to take one, or if not comfortable enough to ask.

I can’t imagine staying at someone’s house I didn’t know well enough to ask them.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 27/02/2023 20:04

I'd ask a friend if they had any spare tampax/pads. If not I'd use loo roll til I got home.

All our sanpro is easily accessible in the bathroom so I'd expect guests to just help themselves.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 27/02/2023 20:04

I also don’t think a sign is called for though

Rupiduti · 27/02/2023 20:05

I tend to carry them on me when I'm due on (and would always carry them on me if I was unpredictable!)
I wouldn't put a sign up! I think most adult females would ask their friend they were visiting to borrow a product. Or use loo roll and nip to the shop!

Terrysnotmine · 27/02/2023 20:05

Thanks, I should carry stuff, I’ve just been caught out this weekend and saw an American post with someone saying the same thing, my initial reaction was weird, but after being caught out made me reconsider.

I'm not sure where you would put the sign.

Comefromaway · 27/02/2023 20:05

A sign is wierd.
I never go anywhere without my handbag which contains a couple of tampons, a panty liner, plasters, mini hand cream, paracetamol & antihistamine

sunshineandshowers40 · 27/02/2023 20:05

I usually have some in my bag but otherwise I would just ask and then pop to the shop to get some. A sign would be a little odd.

MavisMcMinty · 27/02/2023 20:05

It’s 13 years since my last period, and I only recently threw away my stash of Tampax, with vague memories of “toxic shock syndrome” in the back of my mind. I kept the pads though, should anyone visit and find that they need one.

soleilblue · 27/02/2023 20:06

Really weird to have a sign directing them upstairs. Just put a little basket of them in the bathroom or something

FoodNotLoved · 27/02/2023 20:06

Mums/Aunts/Female Best Friends they have supplies in their bathrooms and I just help myself.

Anywhere else would depend who it was, if it wasn't someone I knew well I'd just roll up loo roll and either make excuses to leave early or ask to go to the supermarket/corner shop/whatever.

Swiftswatch · 27/02/2023 20:06

and periods all over the shop, I don’t always have sanitary supplies on me

I don’t understand what you don’t just make sure there are sanitary items in your bag?

How many random women are coming in and out of your house that will randomly start their period? Putting up a sign detailing where sanitary items are is just super weird imo.

Seems like something a 19 year old uni lad would do in an attempt to seem sensitive but hoping to get laid.

ShirleyPhallus · 27/02/2023 20:06

Instead of a sign, perhaps you could print a little pamphlet of essential info about visiting your home? Could also include things like taking off your shoes and whether to ask for a drink and help yourself.

This.

I'd definitely always carry. My friends are free to ask me for some and do, but I don't have anything on display in the loo.

In your house? 😳😳😳

Hellodarknessmyoldpal · 27/02/2023 20:07

The sign seems unnecessary. Surely you would just ask someone if they had something you could use or people in your home would ask you.

Terrysnotmine · 27/02/2023 20:08

As I said previously, it was inspired by an American thread I read. Don’t think I’ve had enough slee 😂

A sign directing you elsewhere is a bit much. I would leave a supply out if i had teenage or quiet/shy women visiting regularly.

Most of my friends and family would have no problem asking me if they needed anything though.

CheersForThatEh · 27/02/2023 20:08

Weird. Just put them in a basket in the loo a guest will be using.

A lot of people use period pants now anyway

WentForAWalk · 27/02/2023 20:09

I keep a stash in my bathroom cabinet incase anyone needs them.

Had my last period 9 years ago and my DC are all sons...
