If you got your period at someone’s house

Totally random but I’m suffering from being peri and periods all over the shop, I don’t always have sanitary supplies on me. If you got your period at someone else’s house what would you do?
Im thinking about putting a little sign saying ladies, supplies are in the upstairs bathroom, please help yourself if needed.
YANBU-great idea
YABU-far too weird

All my stuff is in an open basket on a shelf in the bathroom anyway as I'm peri menopausal and never know when/if my period is gong to arrive. I'm quite happy for someone to help themselves, I wouldn't expect to be asked either

I'd put on the sanpro I always had with me, along with my own contraception, medication, money. Part of taking adult responsibility for myself.

I think that's infantilising. I want women to be MORE independent, more accountable, more self- reliant. Not less.

Why stop at one sign when you can make it a treasure hunt? On the front door: Ladies if you need supplies / You’ll find the next clue in disguise. Then on the DC’s dressing-up box: Got an unexpected trickle? / Seek what you find, don’t get in a pickle. Inside the lid of the old jar of gherkins in the fridge: Surprise! You’re on the blob / Try looking where I do my job. In the print tray of your WFH space: Got a visit from Aunt Flo? / The utility’s where you need to go! In the lint tray of the tumble dryer: We guess you need a sanitary towel / Try asking a wise old owl. In the beak of a garden ornament: When you’re riding the crimson wave / Your blushes we’ll try to save / Try asking me – be brave! / If you need sanpro for your cunt / It’s in the bathroom, not this treasure hunt.

Definitely do it in the big font like @2bazookas

I keep a stash in our bathroom cabinet for my sons girlfriends and any guests that might need them. My sons know where they are, the same with any spare toothbrushes. My friends are comfortable enough to ask me. I do think that having some out in a basket in your guest toilet would be helpful 😀

Season0fTheWitch · 28/02/2023 12:45

I just keep a little stash of period products, spray deodorant etc in all the bathrooms for me or any other guests who get caught out. Anyone using my toilet will know me well enough to know they don't need to ask.

I'm nosy and look through cabinets when I use a loo so I'd find supplies if I needed them. If you don't have a cabinet, a lidded box by the toilet would do with spare loo roll, pads etc.

ToLongToCharge · 28/02/2023 14:31

@Littleflowerseverywhere They arent for parents with babies
There are lots of other reasons why someone may need a babywipe and a nappy sack…

They are behind the door on a shelf, clearly visible when sitting on the loo but not left out or ‘messy’

ToLongToCharge · 28/02/2023 14:40

So similar to this @Littleflowerseverywhere

If you got your period at someone’s house
IDontWantToBeAPie · 28/02/2023 14:51

I'd literally just ask for some.

soboredoflooking · 28/02/2023 15:36

Yip it's very weird!

If that happens to me and I don't have anything with me, I just roll up some toilet roll and place in my pants until I can get something. If i know them well enough and it's a female of the right age I might ask. I don't have massively heavy periods though so wld be fine until I got home.

MasterBeth · 28/02/2023 15:37

I think it should be a neon sign in case someone misses it.

TickledCrimson · 28/02/2023 15:47

Cringe 😬 😬 YADBU. You’re coming from a good place but I would just feel embarrassed for you seeing this. If people need this sort of stuff then they’ll either ask or they’ll pop to the shop.

Idkrealorfake · 28/02/2023 15:50

Put a little basket with a few supplies in each toilet. If I saw that at a friend's and needed it I would help myself to one and then mention it after with thanks.

Thankyou for that ….I’m on a learning curve here.
but
Why would anyone leave supplies of make up wipes
I don’t even use these myself, whats wrong with a face cloth
i suppose more to the point why would women be doing their makeup in your house….if they stay over don’t they bring their own…..v confused…..
And why toothbrushes. Although to be fare I do always have spare, and DSs friends have used them if unplanned stay over…… but generally because I buy in bulk not specifically for visitors ….

Make-up wipes because our house is a magnet for teenage girls, and I'd rather they use wipes than flannels, given that the flannels turn up weeks later, all crusty and horrid under a bed somewhere. I don't wear make up but lots of girls do. They all get ready to go out here, because we're the closest to the night life.

Toothbrushes - as you say, for random sleepovers. I've sometimes had 8 girls staying over unexpectedly after a night out (again, as they don't have to walk far to get here). I've also had my DC's friends turning up because they've missed their train and that sort of thing. So it's as well to have all the stuff they might need, so they can just help themselves.

I grew up when periods were regarded as a bit secret and shameful, so while I've never been 'in your face' about periods with the DC, I've just left all the stuff out in the same way as I have several spare loo rolls by the side of the loo. I don't think anyone should have to ask or feel uncomfortable about something that happens to virtually all girls and women. I clearly remember stuffing loo roll in my pants at other people's houses/at school and I'd far rather have been able to help myself to a pad.

londonrach · 28/02/2023 18:38

Strange re the sign. As an adult I'd ask the other female in the house if any I could borrow and replace tomorrow...if not I'd ask whoever there...male or female if they wouldn't mind popping down to get me some from shop whilst I stay in bathroom. It's a fact of life. I always carry some no matter what anyway.

This isn’t mine, but I have something similar (I also just think the screenshot is hilarious).

Damn, I just spotted this on FB and couldn't wait to come and post it on here! Grin
