YANBU I do fear for a whole generation of boys and girls.
Incels are becoming so pervasive on social media that teachers and parents are referring their kids to the prevent programme which is usually for extremist religious ideologies. I ended up on an incel forum, and they were talking about the murder of a 19 year old girl and the things they were writing I wish I hadn't read and I'm not easily shaken.
Boys and young men are being told by people like Tatertot and in incel forums that women gaining rights, speaking up about and against sexism and misogyny is taking rights away from men. I'm seeing a creeping rhetoric that when women speak out against certain things like sexist jokes and about things like feminism, they get accused of being abusive and misandric and of "toxic femininity"
Boys and young men are being told on social media that girls are only good as holes to fuck and basically doing everything a man tells them to do without complaint.
Girls are being told that if they complain about anything then they're misandrists, abusers and displaying toxic femininity.
It's really fucked up, incels are only the tip of the iceberg. It's the Andrew Tates of the world who are shaping how young men view women that I worry about more, because he does it in an accessible, salesman type way. And boys are listening to him.
I don't think I've lived in a time where overt misogyny was so accepted and seemingly defended, it's insidious.
