To be getting really pissed off with this

Someone keeps ordering deliveroo food to this house. We haven’t ordered anything and don’t use Deliveroo. It’s been happening every day for the past few weeks, sometimes multiple times a day. I’m starting to get really annoyed. If we are not in/don’t answer the door then the deliveroo driver just leaves it outside right outside in front of the door. Sometimes multiple bags as the orders have been that big. Someone is obviously doing it to us but no idea who. The drivers can’t tell us the phone number of the Deliveroo account that is making these orders due to data protection, I have asked them multiple times when they knock on the door. What do I do? Aibu to be getting really pissed off with this?

I too don't see the issue. You're getting deliveries of food which you don't have to pay for? In all honesty for a large portion of the population right now given the choices between heating and eating this would be nothing short of a bloody miracle.

If it's someone pranking you, although it seems a weird prank then the very best thing to do is give it little to no attention. Just eat the meals and enjoy the money they are saving you.

GoodChat · 25/02/2023 17:20

Is it takeaways or supermarket shopping?

Do they not put the name on the receipt?

ChilliBandit · 25/02/2023 17:20

I’ve never been asked for a code by Deliveroo, is this a new thing?

I would check bank statements. Deliveroo was notorious for not being ve try secure at one point. Although the scam tended to involve people using your Deliveroo account to order to other innocent addresses and intercepting the deliveries on arrival. Can you think of someone who’d do this to you? Must be costing a lot of money.

Witlof · 25/02/2023 17:20

Enjoy the food.
Did you move onto this adress recently?

Sunshinealldayandnow · 25/02/2023 17:20

They are sometimes knocking on the door late at night when the kids are in bed too and even as late as near midnight when I’m in bed too. They’ve woken the kids up multiple times as well

What happens to the food? Do you leave it outside and someone picks it up? (I've seen a thread on here where ops house was next to a park and people in the park would use her address to get deliveries and then intercept them on the drive. ) I'd take the food inside and shut the door, then see what happens. If someone turns up you can tell them to stop. If they keep doing it you can refuse to hand it over/not answer the door. That should get the message across.

No if we leave it outside no one comes for it.

You've not eaten any of it. Shock That's a colossal waste of food. What in earth are you doing with it all, surely not just chucking it in the bin?

GagaBinks · 25/02/2023 17:25

I'm with you OP. Don't know why everyone is acting like this isn't a big deal. I'd find this really unsettling.

Sunshinealldayandnow · 25/02/2023 17:25

The orders are in a name I have never heard of

To be fair it would technically be theft if OP was to eat it. She hasn’t ordered nor paid for it. It’s not hers.
OP as PPs have said please check your bank accounts haven’t been hacked and you are actually paying for this food.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 25/02/2023 17:25

That's weird OP, have you checked your bank accounts to make sure your deliveroo hasn't been hacked?

This thread is so weird, OP hasn't ordered this food, its turning up late at night and waking her kids up. You want her to sit her family down and force them to eat this random food no one wanted?

Withnailandeye · 25/02/2023 17:27

How long has this been going on, what type of food is it? I would T be comfortable binning food because I hate waste but it’s the most bizarre thing. Perhaps if it continues contact your nearest homeless shelter/soup kitchen and offer it all to them as/when?

Sunshinealldayandnow · 25/02/2023 17:28

Once the person placed so many orders at once that their were 3 drivers outside all at the same time

OP posts:
AutumnScream · 25/02/2023 17:29

Have you looked up this name with the name of your town to see if you can find the person?

What sort of food is it? Im with you i wouldn't be eating random food from strangers.

Yeah right.

PinedApple · 25/02/2023 17:30

To me this sounds like someone's harassing you but not doing a very good job (!) like maybe a teen -- how old are your kids? Either that or someone has put your address on the internet and people are having a laugh sending you food but the fact its always from deliveroo makes me think it's one person. It's a way of getting your attention without being overtly harassing. I'd be worried it could escalate to something else, like police being sent round or something. I would call 101 and also Deliveroo customer service to say this is happening. Every day for weeks cannot be an innocent mistake?

R0ckets · 25/02/2023 17:33

I'm not saying eat it at midnight or keep the kids up but throwing it all away is bonkers. The food is from restaurants not a random stranger its not going to make her sick and surely some of it could be eaten.

Yes its weird but th person ordering it is most likely looking for a reaction so getting on with it or just ignoring the issue is the best option. Equally I'm sure if the OP put a sign up on her door alerting drivers then they wouldn't knock or leave the food.

ChickenDhansak82 · 25/02/2023 17:33

Put a post on your local Facebook group asking if anyone knows XXXXX (name of person ordering) and say that their deliveroo orders keep turning up at your house.

If you're not going to eat the order, then that's a waste, so perhaps you could freecycle it on Facebook to anyone hungry who can collect ASAP!?!

Sunshinealldayandnow · 25/02/2023 17:33

A few times there have been orders from local takeaways (not through deliveroo), they wanted payment. I just told them I didn’t order it and sent them back with the food.

PuppyMonkey · 25/02/2023 17:34

Yeah OP, what’s the problem? This is all totally reasonable, no issue at all here, you should just eat this food no matter what it is and whether you like it and whether you’ve already eaten or are fast asleep.Confused

I mean, I’d be flagging it to Deliveroo head office or Tweet them or something?

Gincan · 25/02/2023 17:35

Where is the food from? Could you contact them and ask them to cancel any orders to your address? (Assuming this is real! Not sure why anyone would spend all that money)
