To be getting really pissed off with this

Someone keeps ordering deliveroo food to this house. We haven’t ordered anything and don’t use Deliveroo. It’s been happening every day for the past few weeks, sometimes multiple times a day. I’m starting to get really annoyed. If we are not in/don’t answer the door then the deliveroo driver just leaves it outside right outside in front of the door. Sometimes multiple bags as the orders have been that big. Someone is obviously doing it to us but no idea who. The drivers can’t tell us the phone number of the Deliveroo account that is making these orders due to data protection, I have asked them multiple times when they knock on the door. What do I do? Aibu to be getting really pissed off with this?

Report it online/non emergency number to police, keep a log of dates and times and contact deliveroo to say you've had a lot of unwanted deliveries, you want your address blocked (they can do this).

Verbena17 · 25/02/2023 19:57

Is there someone you’ve mentioned being a bit pushed finance-wise at the moment? Maybe a friend, someone you work with, someone from a group you’re in/church etc?

Why would someone short of funds order a shit load of food? The OP has already said when left outside it’s not collected.

OP needs to contact Deliveroo and tell them any further deliveries to her address will be lodged as harassment complaint.

Goodread1 · 25/02/2023 20:15

@Mammatoone

I was just about to say same thing as you , but you beat me to it,

I agree too with other poster that is creepy type behaviour,

@honeylulu

that's a good point too, Op could live nearby a park or somewhere where teenagers ect might be tempted to order food online ,an her property is somewhere convenient to drop by,
Annoying for Op,

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 25/02/2023 20:15

It might be worth contacting the police on a non urgent number. I’m wondering if it could be a vulnerable person who for whatever reason cannot remember each time that food doesn’t end up being delivered to them. Some vulnerable people can work themselves into a lot of debt buying things and not remembering, my auntie had severe epilepsy which caused a decline in her cognition she kept buying new mobile phones without anyone realising. We found them all sitting in their original boxes one day in various places around the house.

Verbena17 · 25/02/2023 20:18

@TheVeryHungryTortoise that’s true. The police could do a welfare check from whoever is ordering - although they won’t be allowed to tell @Sunshinealldayandnow who it is I guess.

No, I meant if the OP had mentioned that she herself was a bit pushed for cash at the moment, the. The other person might have been ordering some meals for her as a gesture of kindness.

OldFan · 25/02/2023 20:20

It is a classic online troll tactic, I wonder if someone is set on annoying you. Sad

It made more sense when the food hadn't been paid for first, so each time the delivery person would be getting aggro and asking the target for money.

Presumably a person is paying for this food though, so it doesn't make sense. Seeems like it maybe is someone with issues who has written their address wrong on the system but still carries on ordering food they aren't getting.

Charlize43 · 25/02/2023 20:23

Someone mentioned this before and it sounded plausible: could it be a criminal gang finding an easy way of testing stolen credit cards? They don't card about the goods, they just want to see that the cards haven't been stopped and that the transaction goes through?

CorsicaDreaming · 25/02/2023 20:23

I'd contact Deliveroo and see if they can connect the orders to complaints coming in of those orders not being received from people.

I wonder if your postcode and house number are similar to a local student halls of residence / police station / hospital and it is students / police or nurses on duty ordering food (esp if multiple come at once ) but then getting postcode / address slightly wrong - you get the delivery, they are sitting somewhere wondering where their food is

JudgeRinderonTinder · 25/02/2023 20:24

Maybe the object of the his affections has given a false address and he’s sending her food as a romantic gesture 🤣

OldFan · 25/02/2023 20:26

@Sunshinealldayandnow Hey, maybe PP has a point. It is still Valentine's month :)

MyOldCaravan · 25/02/2023 20:27

Put a note on your door for Deliveroo, saying you have not ordered any food from them and please do not knock as you may be sleeping.

As others have said, see if you can block your address with Deliveroo, which would be better.

WorryMcGee · 25/02/2023 20:30

I haven’t read the thread but I think this is someone testing stolen/cloned cards. It’s the only plausible explanation. I would contact Deliveroo and tell them you want to report criminal activity, then explain what’s happening. Add in that you have children that are being woken up at all hours and that your family are beginning to feel harassed and scared. Then tell them you want your home address erased from their database under GDPR rules.

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 25/02/2023 20:32

So, what happens to the food? Does it sit there outdoors? Do you bin it? Does someone creep up and take it?

If someone is testing stolen credit cards, you'd think they would vary their MO a bit rather than create a nuisance that eventually is going to be reported to the police.

DottieUncBab · 25/02/2023 20:42

Triffid1 · 25/02/2023 17:11

This makes no sense as deliveroo requires a code when you order to ensure its the right place.

Not all the time, I think I’ve had to provide a code about twice and I’ve probably made 50 deliveries in my lifetime!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 25/02/2023 20:51

I wouldn’t eat any of it/ freaks me out. Who has this kind of money to lose. Are your kids teens? Young adults? Any issues with stalkers or fallings out?

JackiePlace · 25/02/2023 20:52

Lock your gate.
Or the next time it happens put a "free takeaway" message on Facebook and (depending where you live) someone might want it.
Are you sure it's a real Deliveroo driver? The uniforms and bags can be bought online. Do you have an enemy that would wish to poison you?

JackiePlace · 25/02/2023 20:53

Or yeah, surely the police could obtain info from Deliveroo about who is paying for these?

So you have a theory that it might be laced with poison but suggest advertising on Facebook for an unsuspecting member of the public to collect it and eat it? 😂

Hawkins003 · 25/02/2023 21:03

@Sunshinealldayandnow are you sure it's not the kids or your other half that's doing the ordering ?

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 25/02/2023 21:12

Do you ever, or would you ever use the service? If you’ Wouldn’t then put a big notice up

Hmmm "data protection" is used a bit too readily....

If this is your address, and therefore they are saying this is your order (you are the only person at this address), then they can give you the phone number associated with this account.

I had this with a fraud - a current account was opened in my name at my address.

The company (Halifax) were at the same time saying it was me and I had to pay the debt and also saying they couldn't show me the document that was used to prove my identity when I opened the account because "data protection". I very patiently explained to them that if it was me it was my proof of identity and that they should have had no problem showing it to me as it was me. If this was a fraud and they were accepting it was a different person they could use data protection and not show it to me. What they couldn't do was both - they couldn't ask me for the debt and claim they couldn't show me the info for "data protection" reasons.

You have the same with deliveroo - either you can say its not you and to never deliver OR if they think it is you and they want to continue to deliver they can disclose all the account details as its you....

Mirabai · 25/02/2023 21:18

You can complain to Deliveroo but ime they’re crap at dealing with complaints.

I think your only hope is the police. Whether it’s malicious or accidental it amounts to a kind of harassment.

Whoops, I didn't think about the poisoning possibility at first. OP Scratch that "free food" suggestion!

maybe they think you are hard up or something and trying to secretly provide you with food parcels !

That was my thought too!
