To say this is average size?

5'3 and 8 and a half stone.
Would you say that is average and not 'tiny?'

OP posts:
StupidCupidKeepsOnCallinMe · 24/02/2023 15:31

Bore off.

Certainly not average when the average UK size is 16 but I suspect you know this

FightingFatAt49 · 24/02/2023 15:31

I would say 5'3" is small, but I'm 5'8" and think I'm averagely tall.

emmathedilemma · 24/02/2023 15:32

It puts you in the middle of the healthy BMI range but that probably makes you below "average" these days. So many people are overweight we've lost sight of what's "normal" and healthy.

RoseAndRose · 24/02/2023 15:32

Yes it's a normal weight for your height

Why do you want to post about it?

Springintoabetterlife · 24/02/2023 15:32

5’3 is short and the average dress size in the UK is 16.

R0ckets · 24/02/2023 15:33

Of course it's not the average but you must know this already or if not you could have Googled it. The height is I believe about average for a women but the weight is definitely not.

Curiosity101 · 24/02/2023 15:33

Not average at all. Definitely normal, but certainly not average. I'm 5'3" and when I was 8 stone was a size 8.

I'd expect you are a size 8-10 which is smaller than average and you're shorter than average.

Meandfour · 24/02/2023 15:34

Very average for your height.

Skyeheather · 24/02/2023 15:35

I used to be 5"2 and 8.5 stone, I was a size 8 and I described myself as small. I'm not a size 8 anymore and nor is anyone I know so I'd say you are below the average and lucky!

Aprilx · 24/02/2023 15:35

I think the height is a little below average, the weight seems quite reasonable for the height but I would assume it is below average. My niece in her 30s is 5ft 3 and probably weighs about that, I wouldn’t describe her as tiny, but there is definitely less of her than the average woman.

bellac11 · 24/02/2023 15:36

You're shorter than average. I would assume you weigh less than average too.

PinkRiceKrispies · 24/02/2023 15:37

A colleague told me I looked unhealthily skinny and it embarrassed me. I don't think I am which is why I am asking.

OP posts:
WeCome1 · 24/02/2023 15:37

People shouldn’t be commenting on it, anyway. But no, you’re slightly smaller than average and perfectly unremarkable.

That's my usual weight - up at 8st 10lbs at the moment but working on losing a few pounds to get back to 8.5 stone or a little under.

I have a very small frame, tiny wrists and ankles, so I just look slim, I would say, not skinny or tiny.

wonkylegs · 24/02/2023 15:38

Average height, smaller than average weight but not tiny
I'm 4'11 so short but currently overweight something I'm changing because I'm not comfortable like this but also not huge. And still below average.
I've never considered myself tiny even when I was a size 6 (it was my 20's and I lived in cigarettes and alcohol)
Why does it matter?

WeCome1 · 24/02/2023 15:38

Jeez! They are clearly rude and jealous. It’s completely inappropriate to comment on a colleague’s size like that.

BigMadAdrian · 24/02/2023 15:39

This has been posted to for one of two reasons: either the op is looking for confirmation that yes, she is indeed extremely tiny or she wants to let everyone who is bigger than her know that she thinks they’re massive. Or maybe both.

Changingnametime · 24/02/2023 15:40

These are searchable statistics (from 2010). The average female height in the UK is 5’3”. Average female weight is 11 stone.

You are average height, but less than average weight. But your weight is very healthy and is definitely not “tiny”. The average weight is too much overweight.

WineCap · 24/02/2023 15:40

I think the average British woman is 5'4 and size 16. However, you are not underweight or unhealthy - you're in better shape than average.

chipsandpeas · 24/02/2023 15:41

thats tiny to me, im 5ft 4 and 12 stone and aiming to get to about 10 otherwise id look like shit

Gwen82 · 24/02/2023 15:41

Op is this the colleague that you don’t like because they call you “hun”

Or is this the colleague that you don’t like because they asked if you receive government support

or is this the colleague that you think doesn’t trust you despite you thought you were close to them

or is this the colleague….. ?

FlameRamm · 24/02/2023 15:42

It’s average height statistically speaking. It’s well below average weight statistically speaking. Facts are facts - you can Google them. Why post here? All you’ll get is people incorrectly saying 5’8 is average for a woman in the UK.

Ashleighz88 · 24/02/2023 15:42

That's a perfectly healthy normal size. The current world seems to turn normal size women into hate figures, open to comments all the time.

I'd get this constantly in work, I'm 5'3 and 8 and a half stone. All bigger and older women would comment "I need to eat something" or "you'll fall through the grid". I'd have probably been sacked if I commented on how their bigger weight was unhealthy.
