childminders on MN when someone is paying them to look after their dc

shinola · 08/02/2008 22:55

am looking for a childminder so has a look athe childminders and staffroom bit of mumsntet

and see loads of messages from childminder, in work hours on line, in time they are be paid to work by us hard working mums, moaning about us hard working mums.

how dare they? I mean, if you are going to moan, do it in your own time

I don't have time to go on mumnset when I'm with ds, how do they find the time? what happens to the kis they look after? and t add insult to injury they are using their paid time to moan about people who are paying them

but not even that, I can't believe any reputable childminder or nanny can be on mumsnet when they are supposed to be looking after kids

money for old rope

Oh now I know you aren't for real! "Darling"!?!?!?!?!?

VictorianSqualor · 08/02/2008 23:55

I will say in all seriousness though, scottishmummy is right to a point, make sure you use a good chilcare provider, be it nursery or cm/nanny.
My childminder is my old next door neighbour, so I know how she is with the kids.

shinola · 08/02/2008 23:55

scottishmummy - how horrible for your friends!!

am now in a greater quandry than before

BoysAreLikeDogs · 08/02/2008 23:55

Think we have been riding a troll ladies

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 08/02/2008 23:56

scottishmummy thats a shocking attitude.
What an assumption to make based on a few 'friends' experiences.
For a lot of people nannies/cm are their lifeline and they have fantastic relationships with them.

kindersurprise · 08/02/2008 23:56

There are good nurseries and bad nurseries and there are good CM/Nannies and bad ones.

You have to find childcare that suits you and your child. It does not mean that all other forms of childcare are shite.

FAQ · 08/02/2008 23:56

Devil - I did suggest earlier that perhaps this was a regular who had named changed to start a good Friday night scrap.

But Shinola says she came on this evening , read through lots of the CM threads, found her way to AIBU and then posted

scottishmummy · 08/02/2008 23:57

i dont want this to degenerate to a Nursery Vs Nanny/CM.But Imo more checks and balances at nursery than one sole individual

ComeOVeneer · 08/02/2008 23:58

Who else has been calling everyone darling? (I want to read that as "dahling" ).

Lauriefairycake · 08/02/2008 23:59

cod ??????

FAQ · 08/02/2008 23:59

Wotz - you decided that as you didn't agree with what I said you'd make "clever" comments about me quoting you.........does kind of help on a busy fast moving thread such as this to "quote" once in a while....

You've pssed me off - but you know what - you can say what the fck you like to me but I don't give a damn, got eenough crp going on to worry about a random stranger telling me to Fck off

shinola · 08/02/2008 23:59

faq

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 09/02/2008 00:01

Whoever it is ought to hope they are not recognised.
It's a ridiculous thread to start for a joke, one that will just upset people, and not remotely funny.

nancy75 · 09/02/2008 00:01

i think some people are being a bit harsh to shinola, and i agree with her, what you do when you look after your own children is one thing, when you are PAYING someone to do a job you expect them to be doing it surely?would you be happy if you had a cleaner who took a couple of 15min breaks to go on a chat room while they were meant to be cleaning? of course not. a child minder should be minding the child.

FAQ · 09/02/2008 00:02

yes actually it is hard to believe.

I actually have a lot of respect for a lot of MN'ers...........perhaps seen as though you're so "keen" on reading up about things on MN and getting a "feel" you'd like to have a look and see.

I don't think you're going to get a "flavour" of childminders from a couple of hours reading ona Friday night - sorry!

shinola · 09/02/2008 00:03

dahlings!!!

(have had a glass of wine now)

here are my observation re mumnset

get cross very easily

think everyone has a hidden agenda

start small individual fights

think people change names to have opinion

however, still have no opinion on nanny v childminder v nursery

so am unsure whether to thank you or not

OP posts:
scottishmummy · 09/02/2008 00:04

TheDevilWearsPrimark - i am actually relating factual account, not an attitude. since attitude is not necessarily a behavioural outcome. so lighten up and accept it as it is an account of something that happened to 4 mums i personally know

i also accept that other posters (maybe enven you) will also cote factual accounts of bad nurseries

and guess what............................

we are all right, all citing our opinions that are generalisations

we all chose childcare according to preference and my preference is nursery - thats all

FAQ · 09/02/2008 00:04

15 minute breaks..........ermm since when did it take 15 minutes to lean over to the computer, click refresh, type a quick post and then continue as you were??

shinola · 09/02/2008 00:05

nancy 75

thank you!!!

this is exactly what I'm trying to say

plus, if you have more than one you need eyes in the back of your head

not focussed on your keyboard and screen

OP posts:
ComeOVeneer · 09/02/2008 00:05

Bloody quick glass of wine

VictorianSqualor · 09/02/2008 00:05

Okay post number one to see how quickly I can type two posts of an average length.

Lauriefairycake · 09/02/2008 00:05

yes shinola, you have just summed it up

oh yeah, and people are very nice too......
