childminders on MN when someone is paying them to look after their dc

am looking for a childminder so has a look athe childminders and staffroom bit of mumsntet

and see loads of messages from childminder, in work hours on line, in time they are be paid to work by us hard working mums, moaning about us hard working mums.

how dare they? I mean, if you are going to moan, do it in your own time

I don't have time to go on mumnset when I'm with ds, how do they find the time? what happens to the kis they look after? and t add insult to injury they are using their paid time to moan about people who are paying them

but not even that, I can't believe any reputable childminder or nanny can be on mumsnet when they are supposed to be looking after kids

money for old rope

FAQ, I'd love to, give me 8 weeks.

TalkroundupElf · 08/02/2008 23:19

Oh dear, maybe i'm a crap nanny too then

I check my emails at work, and my charges are never and would never be neglected

Have you actually never either watched the telly/read a paper etc while you have been with your child? I honestly don't see what the issue is. You don't know what these ladies are ACTUALLY doing with their mindees? They may just have it running in the background and hit refresh every now and then, and tbh if their mindees are completely occupied with something then why the hell shouldn't they sit down for 20 mins, as you would do so at home

As others have said, the idea of a childminder is that it's a home from home. And tbh a childs play shouldn't always be directed by an adult, or they never learn how to play alone or use their imagination.

Rant over

shinola · 08/02/2008 23:20

no, and if you took the time to look at my post you would see i wasn't

but

a - to see some people on here a lot during the day, more than I could manage on a good day with one, so wondering, really, what is happening (or not) that they have the time

b - to see someone who is being paid by someone online moaning about the people paying them, in the time they are being paid for, is adding insult to injury

in fact, i know that many companies would consider it a serious breach to be dissing the company on company time, is it any different to expect similar stanards from our childcare

There are more Mums than CMs on MN, if we didn't post unless our DCs were asleep there would be far fewer messages sent.
I'm also sure that while you don't check MN while at work there are others who do.
As for moaning about the person who is paying them - I'm sure your employer is a ray of light in your day, but I know if I wanted to get the mindees to an activity group or whatever I had planned I'd be frustrated at late arrivals. Is it that different to teachers in the staffroom moaning about kids (not that that ever happens)

FAQ · 08/02/2008 23:20

8 weeks - can't wait that long sorry

BoysAreLikeDogs · 08/02/2008 23:21

It's not your childcare you numpty.

FAQ · 08/02/2008 23:22

"i know that many companies would consider it a serious breach to be dissing the company on company time,"

indeed but how many milliions of workers flout that every day .

shinola · 08/02/2008 23:23

yeah, but not all are daft enough to do it on a public forum where their employers are looking too

OP posts:
VictorianSqualor · 08/02/2008 23:23

I think the mums that come on moaning about playdates are the worst
Theyve invited said brat to come and play with their princess/cherub and they come on posting about how they are drinking alcohol and wanting to throw said brat out before mummy dearest even gets there.
Much much worse.

(where in your post does it say you're sober?)

LyraSilvertongue · 08/02/2008 23:24

Employees moan together about their company in company time. It happens day in, day out.
Shinola, do you really never look at your emails/mn, make personal phone calls from work> Do you really dedicate every single second to the greater good of the company?

FAQ · 08/02/2008 23:24

VS - who was your last comment (about being sober) too????

shinola · 08/02/2008 23:25

i'm on mn at nealry midnight on a friday! I'm clearly a loser

I am of course high on crystal tina, crack and acid to compensate

FAQ · 08/02/2008 23:26

cool - pass some this way and I'll shove some booze yours

VictorianSqualor · 08/02/2008 23:26

Oh, the OP, wasn;t quite sure which person she was answering when she said 'no, and if you took the time to look at my post you would see i wasn't'

I thought I'd better check incase I missed something

BoysAreLikeDogs · 08/02/2008 23:26

loser, schmoozer

Whatever

VictorianSqualor · 08/02/2008 23:27

Nah, wasnt saying you;re a loser, just it's friday night, fight night innit.

shinola · 08/02/2008 23:27

as I said, I'm not daft enough to post on the company intranet..

and its not the occasional postees about best practice etc, but a fair few on here enough to give me pause...and make me want to include ' how often are you on MN' as interview question

OP posts:
BoysAreLikeDogs · 08/02/2008 23:28

Blah blah blah

VictorianSqualor · 08/02/2008 23:29

And what exactly are you doing watching these fair few posting?
Takes as much time to lurk as it does to post.

FAQ · 08/02/2008 23:29

that's ok because I'm sure most of the CM don't have the intranet with their employer

ComeOVeneer · 08/02/2008 23:29

This is quite obviously a name changer/stirrer trying to liven up a friday night.

FWIW there are plety of mners who regularly post when they are supposed to be working in all anner of diffeent fields. How else do we all get through theday?

shinola · 08/02/2008 23:30

loving the closely reasoned argument boysarelikedogs

regularly posting CMs are a bunch of skivers!!!!

OP posts:
FAQ · 08/02/2008 23:31

and if your on here enough to know that they're all skivers then by default you must be one too

TalkroundupElf · 08/02/2008 23:31
ComeOVeneer · 08/02/2008 23:31

Regular posting MNers are a bunch of skivers full stop .
