childminders on MN when someone is paying them to look after their dc

shinola · 08/02/2008 22:55

am looking for a childminder so has a look athe childminders and staffroom bit of mumsntet

and see loads of messages from childminder, in work hours on line, in time they are be paid to work by us hard working mums, moaning about us hard working mums.

how dare they? I mean, if you are going to moan, do it in your own time

I don't have time to go on mumnset when I'm with ds, how do they find the time? what happens to the kis they look after? and t add insult to injury they are using their paid time to moan about people who are paying them

but not even that, I can't believe any reputable childminder or nanny can be on mumsnet when they are supposed to be looking after kids

money for old rope

SHINOLA

It's FRIDAY NIGHT (otherwise known as "fight night" - PEOPLE ARE PISSED, people are tired (been working/looking after children all week)....

VictorianSqualor · 09/02/2008 00:06

And post number two, I doubt very much the time difference between them is fifteen minutes.
(And I made sure everything was typed correctly which I dont normally do)

VictorianSqualor · 09/02/2008 00:07

Less than a minute.
I thank you.
Good night.

FAQ · 09/02/2008 00:07

shinola - trust me I have 3 children and it's perfectly possible to watch them and type at the same time!

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 09/02/2008 00:07

I'm not impressed.

If you want to bitch about mumsnet why hide behind a pretend persona?

Plenty do it out in the open. Find your backbone.

kindersurprise · 09/02/2008 00:07

Nancy,
I can see your point, but your cleaner is likely to be working for a couple of hours, not all day.

How many office workers can honestly say htat they never use the internet for personal reasons during office hours?

And many childminders will not get a proper "break" during the day, when all the children are asleep.

You would not complain about a childminder sitting down with a cup of tea and the Daily Mail to have a rest. What is the difference to that and MN?

FAQ · 09/02/2008 00:10

and what about the essential sh*t???

Phone rings (potential mindee??)

Door bell goes (parcel needs to be signed for)

Preparing lunch/snack/dinner for mindees (I presume it's not considered good practice to let the mindees in the kitchen especially if there's hot food being cooked)

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 09/02/2008 00:10

scottishmummy we had a bad experience with a nanny recently, but it has not put me off. At the moment, in our situation having a nanny works best for us. I just think you made a very judgmental comment.

Lauriefairycake · 09/02/2008 00:10

actually i would complain about someone sitting down with the Daily Mail

I mean, it's the Daily Mail for fucks sake !!!

who the hell would want some right wing nutter looking after their bairns

FAQ · 09/02/2008 00:11

god yes - if it was the Daily Mail/Sun/NOTW etc etc I'd be withdrawing my child immediately

shinola · 09/02/2008 00:11

right, am off to bed

to ponder whether or not to post agian, do this profile malarkey etc as I AM ME (goddamit)

or just give up in disgust in something that seems pretty much a force for good (apart from the skiving childminders cos no one thinks I'm real

am real, am new, have opinions, happy to state them, still think some childmniders spend too much time on here (you know who you are) and will be vetting any prospective ones to see if there is a pc on display, other than that good nightm be nice to each other, its late and time for bed

Lauriefairycake · 09/02/2008 00:12

shinola,

its way too early in your posting career to flounce

scottishmummy · 09/02/2008 00:12

oh let it go!im stating my preferences as are you if you find that judgmental thats your issue not mine...did the bad nanny give you the heebie jeebies

me?Fabulous nursery. No complaints

not judgemental

TabithaTwitchett · 09/02/2008 00:14

I agree with Nancy75. I might take time to get a coffee when in the office if I can but wouldn't be surfing the internet outside my lunch break. I might have a minute to look at the paper when watching dd but that is my day off too. I would not expect someone being paid to look after dd to do the same.

nancy75 · 09/02/2008 00:14

if the children are all asleep fine (prefer it wasnt the daily mail though!) but from what the op has said it apears to be at time when they are not all asleep, that would be my problem. Yes a cleaner probably wouldnt be working all day but then they also wouldnt be responsible for the safety of a child.
As for how quickly you can post, yes you can do it in a minute but be honest who ever comes on here, posts one thing and then turns it off? its easy to get caught up with a chat board and an hour later realise you are still typing!

Wotz · 09/02/2008 00:14

FAQ can I just point you that it was you who told me to f**k off first because you thought I was being clever.

It is late, I am tired. I can't understand this thread anymore. It is moments like like that I wonder why I bother at all with MN and why newbies bother to stick around at all.

FAQ · 09/02/2008 00:15

see you tomorrow Shinola

(and please don't discard CM's because they happen to have a PC......most decent nurseries will have PC's for the children to use )

FAQ · 09/02/2008 00:17

Wotz if you can't see what I'm saying that is YOUR problem not mine. You're really pssing me off now, I've come on MN tonight to "wind down" and try and forget about sarcastic/clever/"witty" comments that I get all fcking day.........so for you to get all sarky just because I happened to quote you (TO CLARIFY WHICH POST I WAS RESPONDING TO!) that's just tough.

TabithaTwitchett · 09/02/2008 00:18

yeah, you just don't want the pc used to research the next Centre Parks (or whatever) holiday when they are paid to watch your kids!

kindersurprise · 09/02/2008 00:19

lol, I did wonder how many of you would pick up on the Daily Mail. I considered putting Guardian/Times but thought DM was bound to get a response.

ComeOVeneer · 09/02/2008 00:19

So basically people expect CMs to take better (or rather more vigilant) care of their children than they do themselves?

TabithaTwitchett · 09/02/2008 00:19

FAQ - calm down there is no need.

Wotz · 09/02/2008 00:21

So you just want to vent at me - go ahead if it makes you feel better. These are only words on the screen.

TabithaTwitchett · 09/02/2008 00:22

I am always watching dd and would expect a childminder to do the same. I was simply making the comparison with a usual office job where no-one could give a shit.

FAQ · 09/02/2008 00:23

oh forget it Wotz - once again my point is totally being missed.

TT - do you REALLY watch your DD ALL the time???????
